Afternoon Dave thanks for all the info you gave me and after 4 months waiting for my “midi pro lathe” it arrives on Wednesday so I’ve been without a lathe all this time as I sold my 1st lathe but looking forward to using this beauty once all setup plus I did buy the extension bed with the plate system should make life easier 😊 again thanks.

I'm impresed mate , it looks a great piece of kit, seems very well built and I like that the motor is behind the head stock rather than below it,
It definitely gives the similar axminsters tradeAT350WL a run for its money. I would seriously consider purchasing one.
    Brilliant review mate, Cheers, Bram

Hey dave... congratulations to this wonderful lathe, ive also buyed myself one in may, very fine choice.
I personal like it, even if you need a stable underground.... you can make bowls up to 350 mm... and more.
    It never lets me down.
Good luck... you will have much fun vs a longliving machine.
    Greetings from austria.

Great review Dave, I subbed to your channel a while back after seeing this review. Here are some of my thoughts on the Midi Pro and why I got it. (In addition to everything you said)
I wanted to upgrade from my Charnwood W824. That lathe has a 12" bowl capacity but struggles to turn a 12" bowl. The motor loses power at lower speeds. However, I got the Midi Pro. At first, I was concerned that it wasn't rated as being much more powerful, but the 3 phase AC motor is constant torque. So, it doesn't matter what speed it's turning at it's always full power. It is so much better.
I looked at a couple that were £200 less than this but felt they had compromised on features to get the price down. The RP Herald, with its none self-ejecting tailstock, the motor control fixed on the motor so is in the wrong place when you turn the headstock, the tailstock spindle comes out the back, I'd be wary of scraping my knuckles when winding it and the belt change is round the back (Compared to the Midi Pro.) The reverse switch on the Herald is also a game as well.
The other one I looked at was the Laguna Revo 1216. The headstock doesn't turn and you'd need a pretty large floor space to turn off of the back of the headstock. More than I've got anyway.
The RP coronet Envoy looked good but was £400 more and I didn't have space for it. Since getting the Midi Pro last August, I have honestly not regretted it for a second, it has done everything I have wanted it to. I haven't felt like it needs more power or capacity. I have made one simple mod on it, that is to turn a small thumbscrew for the belt cover so I don't need to fiddle about with an allen key (That said, I have pretty much left it on the middle pulley!)
Oh, one honest niggle, the MT2 hole through the headstock spindle, doesn't go deep enough for my Jacobs chuck. That's not a deal-breaker for me, But it was a shock when I tried to mount the jacobs chuck on the headstock!

hi Richard thank you for the info same reasons i went for this lathe since buying it have not had any problems and have not looked back ps good idea about the thumb screw might try that myself take care dave

Nice !!! A fine looking bit of kit Dave. Should be happy with 😃😃👍 The rotatable headstock is a feature I predict you use on every bowl to do the inside - much more comfortable and safer than bending over and having awkward hand positions. I am envious! Can't wait to see it in action⏳ Stay safe. -Mike😷

Now I have an existing bench, but I'm a little concerned over the height of the machine, as my bench is quite high!!
