Yeah I agreed, you know doom performing it is my bane of my existence because whatever I see a map that has platforming I think twice about it before I give it a Go since I knew I'm going to die a lot and suck at it.
This is why I'm not a Doom TH-camr. If I had to do 18 attempts at any level my entire commentary track would be an evocative description of what I was going to do to the designer of the level when I found him, along with detailed explanations of what farm implements I was going to do it with.
If placing monsters had a power cost depending on how hard they were... Platforms would be worth the most. The fact you can hear decinos keyboard is a testament to the hidden stress.
Indeed. My one enemy in classic DooM and ESO is platforming. Nothing scares me more than the teeny tiny DooM II MAP24 The Chasm's tiny catwalks and that one lever/switch in ESO's Dreadsail Reef trial..... you just have to jump twice over I think 3 wooden floating platforms in total to reach that lever but ESO's wonky jumping physics are second to none (unless you count DooM's wonky bump-into-whatever physics) which is the reason I NEVER do that jump at all.
I rewatched the original Sunder stream not long ago and was fearing for your sanity :D 18 attempts is not bad AT ALL! amazing how you aced it not even braking sweat :O Can't wait for the rest of the levels!
Even though I'm nowhere near good enough to beat it without mods, I have to say Sunder is one of my favourite megawads. It is by far the most beautiful and terrifying depiction of hell ever made.
My vote goes to Pale Monument. Just something about it that makes it seem like a much bigger space than it is, like you're in part of some non euclidean, fractally geometric, endless labryinth of torture. Of course the Misri Halek music helps that vibe a lot.
As someone that's going through sunder myself (using IDFA frequently to get ammo) I can safely say these levels are WAY harder than Decino makes them look - he's just VERY good if that wasn't already obvious 😆 I play on hurt me plenty and I still die all the time even though I allow myself to use infinite ammo basically. Awesome to see someone go through em without codes at all!! Nice job man!!!! 👍

My first time going through Sunder, I skipped right past Precarious because it looked like such a chore. After beating my head against the wall (savescumming to infinity and cursing until my throat hurt) through maps like City at the Mouth of Ire and Beneath the Waves of Styx, coming back to play this one was refreshing in a way. I think a major improvement to the level design would be to have the edges block monsters to prevent them from being knocked over (excluding the parts involving flying monsters). And add a much closer perimeter to prevent monsters for flying too far away.
This map bruh. This god damn map. Yeah you said it, the platforming is hard but mainly due to nerves. Having monsters fall off fucking sucks. But the pain elementals have been the run killers for me.
