You people realize that they didn't change the track when they changed it from Mission 1 to Mission 2. Same ride just faster and new effects and music.
I was there the year they were refurbing it entirely from the original to Mission 2, it was quite a lot of chaos going on (thankfully since our group from college's IT course) were able to get around the refurbishments of Space Mountain. But yea, it was chaos with construction cos of the snow and ice (we went in January of 2005).
I wasn't a big fan of this space mountain in particular, I felt that the restraints were too tight against my chest and shoulders and ended up getting a big bruise a few days later after I got home (which caused me to actually miss college for several days as I could not lift my left arm)

Space mountain mission 1 is about a voyage from the earth to the moon. But for mission 2 it’s a voyage into deep space in search for a supernova.
Mission 1 was all about Jules Verne's book "From The Earth To The Moon".
The Mission 2 refurb was just a supernova search, that was it.
