This is a beautiful song and Home Free puts a beautiful message behind it. Their voices move me from the first line sung and even without the video by the end my vision is hazy with the tears in my eyes. I always have to take a few minutes to compose myself after.
My 14 year old son found a small flag on the ground slightly tattered. He removed it from the small wooden post and asked me how to properly dispose of the flag. As an Eagle Scout, I made him and my daughter well aware of the rules of the flag from the time they were young. He first folded it properly, it was then placed in a paper bag and reverently disposed of in a fire. This was done July 4th weekend of this year. I am immensely proud of him for his dedication in wanting to do it right while honoring the flag and the sacrifice our vets have made for our freedoms. Thank you, sir, for the information on the dog tags. I have seen a lot of reactions to this video, and no one has ever mentioned that. It was extremely informative.
Do not be ashamed of getting emotional. I have listened to this many times and it strikes me the same way every time. I am a 74-year-old vet. I never saw combat (fortunately), but I lost three good friends who did.
33 years in blue, 26 active duty Air Force (1974-2000). I do appreciate when people say "thank you" but I considered myself blessed with the privilege to serve. I served expecting no reward. I believe I am ong millions of veterans who feel the same way.
I, too, thank you and everyone else who has served / is currently serving in our Armed Services. This was always my biggest fear when my youngest son was being deployed in the Air Force. I've already buried 2 of my children, and I dreaded having a knock at my door .... My heart goes out to every family member who HAS opened the door to the men in Uniform bringing news that will bring them to their knees and change their lives forever ....
Thank you for you service and I feel your pain. Veteran here also. These songs are difficult to listen to, but needed so that all will remember and/or learn what sacrifice is. Shout out for you attention to detail on the dog tags. Hurrah.
Thanks you for your service and I am a veteran as well. I served in desert shield desert storm. You do NOT need to apologize for letting your feelings show. It proves you are human. Home Free did a couple of other hymns that I am certain you will really enjoy. Their version of How Great Thou Art and another one by Peter Hollins ft Home Free Amazing Grace. Once again, Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your Service brother and thanks to those who have passed. Love you guys and this country. Also thanks to the men and Women who are serving still to this day. America!!!!!!
I remember when I was in the 5th grade I alway had to go out and raise the flag in the morning then at the end of the day take it down and fold it exactly like that everyday. Still remember to this day. It was actually my favorite part of the day.
Home Free did a collaboration with Peter Hollens and they all sang Amazing Grace, it's beautiful too, and Tim's bass shows during his solo part. You should check it out.
Fortuitous that you watched this video on the same day as your loss. I’m so sorry. I agree with you that Heaven for me will have Home Free music playing. This song is especially meaningful. I loved their insertion of Amazing Grace in the song too. It just fit right. By the way, Peter Hollens (he’s the singer who sang Misty Mountains with Tim) sings Amazing Grace with Home Free. You’ll love it. I did not know that about the dog tags. Very interesting and sobering. God Bless you. Great reaction!
As a old Marine I've sent a few of our brothers home and it's never easy brother however and just my opinion but I believe they now stand guard at the gates! Just saying.
Love ❤ there rendition of this song, they do it beautifully! If Amazing Grace is one of your favorite songs then you need to listen to it done by the Pentatonix which is another acapella group it's beautiful 😍
First of all..thank you for your service to our country and protecting me. Second…I just found your channel a few hours ago. I’ve been binge watching. This is the first time commenting. My dad was a vet. Be careful listening to Five Finger Death Punch Wrong Side of Heaven. My nephew was in the Gulf War and he came back with severe PTSD. That song always makes me think of him.
The Amazing Grace portion of this song was put in place of the instrumental portion of the original song. And Tim was the perfect choice for it. Never apologize for feeling sad about a fallen friend/hero, Sir. We are only human, until God calls us home.
Thanks Tim for that info about the dog tags. You are right, with all the reaction videos I have seen , no-one else has mentioned it. I am going through my long list of reaction videos to "reduce the numbers", yours will be staying on the list. I am glad I found your channel. Thanks again.... for all you have been through, seen, done, and continue to do.
My stepdad was a WWII vet .He passed away last month at 97, and we played this at his funeral. He earned the purple heart for getting injured in battle at 19 yrs. old. My granson and I both said we had to play this at the service.
No need for apology Sir! You have that right! Trust & Faith my friend - Only one way to pass into the Kingdom of Heaven! Acceptance of the One and Only! It's that personal relationship, that one on one that makes all the difference in the world!!!! Every bit of it is between You and God -- 100% Vince started writing this song on the passing of Keith Whitley. And oh what a voice. Vince furthered the song, complete at the time, when his own brother passed. Not sure that is was complete but recorded it and released. He personally asked Ricky Skaggs and Patty Loveless to sing it with him. Vince, Keith, Ricky, and Patty all have Bluegrass roots and background but had made the transition to Country ... Keith was on the verge of super-mega star when he OD'd on alcohol. (You may know the story) an unexpected result but many not so surprised. My understanding is that Vince has added another verse to the song -- haven't heard it performed but I imagine it fits very well. --- Be Safe
Home Free know how to tug at the heart strings. Five guys harmonizing, just beautiful. Every Sunday morning I listen to anything gospel done by Home Free
Thank you so very much for your service... I served from 1985 - 1993 in the Navy. Was off the coast of Iraq during Desert Storm. Thank you for your review of this song. You are so right no one else saw that about the Dog Tags.
You never need to apologize for your feelings. I'd be more concerned if you didn't show them. My Dad is a very macho type A personality and music can destroy him in one phrase. This song puts us in a state of thoughtful reflection and sometimes that is rough! Sending virtual hugs and sending up prayers for all veterans and current members of our armed forces. Thank you for all of your service and sacrifices! 🇺🇸❤
1st-Thank you for your service. 2nd- if Amazing Grace is one of your favorites, check out Home Frees version with Peter Hollins. Actually, it is from Peter featuring Home Free.
Very informative reaction...I loved it! I've seen many reactions to this video...and no one ever mentioned the dog tags! I just watched Mikey D react to this same video! Home Free also recorded Amazing Grace with Peter Hollens.....and Tim recorded Angel's Among Us with original band member Chris Rupp...Adam's brother! You should check them out!
Have you seen the video of Vince singing this at George Jones's funeral! Whew! I never make it through this song without goosebumps and tears, but THAT video will make you sob! It shows how much Vince loved George. I've only seen it twice and neither time could I play it straight through.
Thank you so much! Watched Mikey and he had me crying! As I was clicking off of him I heard my notification bell go off for you so I hurried over here and now I'm crying for the second time in like four minutes. Please don't apologize anymore about your emotions! It is an honor to be allowed to see into another person's heart and soul! Thank you for letting us see inside! My mama used to say that tears help wash the dust off the heart and helps keep it fresh and clean so that the Lord can get to the inside easier! Us women folks have a very tender spot for men who cry! It kind of melts us and pulls on our heartstrings! Make us want to hug y'all men and pat you on the shoulder and tell you it's ok! Thank YOU for YOUR service! This is indeed a beautiful song and video from some of the most beautiful people I've ever seen and heard! They are truly wonderful young men! I'm thankful to the Lord for bringing them to me! As well as you sir! God bless you mightily! Can't hardly wait for the next HF video!❤️😢🇺🇲🍟
Beautiful song! My daughter took me to a HF concert 3 months after my husband died. It was uplifting & fun until they sang this. Almost took me to my knees. Still hard to listen to! This is a beautiful tribute written by Vince Gill for his brother! I’d love to be met at heavens gate with HFS beautiful rmonies💕
Thank you for your service to our great country! Our Men and Women in the Military are what keeps us safe and free! I knew when I saw that you were going to react to this that it would be tough! Good catch on the dog tags. I've watched many reactions to this song and it has never been mentioned. Great reaction. Stay safe and take care!
No apology needed, other military personnel that have seen this video have reacted the same way. I'm sure my husband had the same reaction, he was in Iraq during Dessert Storm, it affected him as well. For those of us that have never been in a war or experienced the loss of a brother or sister in arms, can't feel the same effect. My father in law never talked about being in WW2 and Korea and I realize it is because if you weren't there and experienced it, just don't understand what it was like. Thank you for your service,!!!
I’m not a veteran but I have several family members who were so THANK YOU for your service and to all of the veterans out there. I hope Amazing Grace is on your list as well as Adam Rupp’s Drum Solo.
Great emotional reaction. . Gill began writing the song following the death of country music superstar Keith Whitley, who died in 1989 (Whitley, who struggled with alcohol addiction throughout his life, died of alcohol poisoning) . Gill did not finish the song until a few years later following the death of his older brother Bob, in 1993, of a heart attack.
Im sorry for your loss. Thank you for your service. God Bless you. Home Free does a cover of your favorite hymn. Amazing Grace with Peter Hollens. It is a beautiful rendition. Thank you for your emotional and beautiful reaction.
It is to our everlasting shame how we treated Vietnam Vets when they returned home from the war. I visited the war memorial in D.C. a few years ago and just sobbedf. I don't think our generation, or our country has ever gotten over that one. Bless you for all that you did for our country. We can never thank our service men and women enough or ever understand the hell they live with from the memory of war.
Wove Amazing Grace into an already great Love Of Country tune (Vince Gill) .... beautiful as usual. If you want another GREAT ONE of this genre .... Try "BROTHERS IN ARMS" moving as a musical experience can be. Home Free !!! God bless us !
I'm not a veteran (about the only regret I have is not serving) but want to echo your first words and also thank you. I choked up when you said you hoped HF was playing at the pearly gates (as long as it's just piped in from down here on earth). I hope your next one is something like All About That Bass....
Don't apologize for feeling that the universe told you you needed to hear the song This Day to Remember your fellow Soldier I cry everytime I hear this song also no I'm heading over to hear Mickey D's reaction
my dad was in the 101st screaming eagles co. B in d-day & bulge & Holland etc (same path as Ez company "band of Brothers" when they landed)...when i was little, he told me what those notches were for...much respect to you sir & love your reaction...
I had heard that about the dog tags somewhere, but I'm 70, so little pieces gotten into my brain over the years. My dad may have told me, because he was retired army. Don't remember.
Vince Gill had to be inspired by an angel looking over him during his grief for his brother and Kith Whitley to create a song with this much impact on everyone who hears it.
Check out amazing grace Home Free and Peter Hollons it really amazing
No words Triple, just thank you, and bless you're heart. 👍💕👍
This is a beautiful song and Home Free puts a beautiful message behind it. Their voices move me from the first line sung and even without the video by the end my vision is hazy with the tears in my eyes. I always have to take a few minutes to compose myself after.
Yes, this is simply beautiful !!!
You will find how patriotic Home Free are. Amazing!
Thank you so much for your heartfelt reaction. God Bless you.

I never saw combat (fortunately), but I lost three good friends who did.
Don't apologize for your emotions - you've earned them. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I cry with this one every time ....

Beautiful song with so much meaning behind it.
Have you seen HOME FREE w/LEE GREENWOOD & SINGING SARGEANTS (US AIR FORCE) doing "God Bless The USA"?
It is awesome!!!
No apology needed. Remembering and respecting a hero is a beautiful tribute to him 💗🇺🇲. Praying Home Free music is playing in heaven.
No need to apologize. I can't imagine what you have seen and endured. My heart goes out to you.
Their version of this song reaches in and touches your heart. It left me emotional too
Don't be sorry.
I know the feeling.
I have lost so many services members in my life.
It makes me cry every time
Amen and AMEN!!! ❤️🙏🏻
I remember when I was in the 5th grade I alway had to go out and raise the flag in the morning then at the end of the day take it down and fold it exactly like that everyday. Still remember to this day. It was actually my favorite part of the day.
Thank you too and love ya brother! HOOAH!!!
So good. Love the added Amazing Grace. They sing Amazing Grace with Peter Hollins and it is off the chain

Very emotional! I love your genuine, heart felt reaction!
Another homfredian masterpiece. Damn.
Never apologize for your feelings, Tim. What was his name? I'll add him to my prayers.
Another one that is hard to keep a dry eye to.
The song and the video was fitting to show the saddest of the lost of a love one who served in the arm forces 💔 ❤❤❤
Beautiful reaction, my man. Great music elicits an emotional reaction. Home Free are great at it.
My son in law has taught his oldest so far how to fold the flag
I'm not a veteran (about the only regret I have is not serving) but want to echo your first words and also thank you. I choked up when you said you hoped HF was playing at the pearly gates (as long as it's just piped in from down here on earth).

Don't apologize for feeling that the universe told you you needed to hear the song This Day to Remember your fellow Soldier I cry everytime I hear this song also no I'm heading over to hear Mickey D's reaction
You are forgiven, my friend. We have travelled a lot of the same road. I know you well, though we have never seen each other face to face.
Dog Pound grab a tissue or box of them.
Vince Gill wrote this for his brother.
my dad was in the 101st screaming eagles co. B in d-day & bulge & Holland etc (same path as Ez company "band of Brothers" when they landed)...when i was little, he told me what those notches were for...much respect to you sir & love your reaction...

If this song and this video don't hit you in your heart you don't have a soul.
How great thou Art
Vince Gill had to be inspired by an angel looking over him during his grief for his brother and Kith Whitley to create a song with this much impact on everyone who hears it.
Love ya too
Have you done How Great Thou Art by Home Free? Gives me the chills and makes me cry every time I hear it
Thank you for your beautiful reaction. I didn’t know about the tags. I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙏
Is that a D.I. hat I see on your wall? Thanks for the training that saved you gave us Viet Nam vets that saved lives.
