I lived through this time. The views expressed in this video are largely accurate. However, the term "democratic socialism" was not a term used back then, nor should it be used in reference to Dr. King because it didn't depict what he was trying to establish. Dr. King wasn't trying to establish the supremacy of one group over another, just to give black Americans, for example, a path toward equality with all Americans. We should guard against these attempts to pigeonhole past figures and philosophies into modern ideologies because the meanings are out of context.

Martin Luther King Junior was a Christian pastor he believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Jesus Christ never said to trust in the government or to trust in Rome. Jesus Christ was not a socialist. Jesus Christ was the way the truth and the light. There is no way the Martin Luther King would reject Christianity to except a system that is trying to abolish faith in Christ.

MLK was a Liberal Christian, so he wasn’t a Biblical literalist (he didn’t believe in the virgin birth, for example). He wrote a paper in 1948 saying as much. Also, I forgot to mention that Martin Luther King Jr. was a democratic socialist, you can easily read about it if you search the web. And you actually can be a Christian socialist, because Jesus never denied any economic system. I find it really quite strange that most Christians are against communism and socialism, when the early Christians were proto-communist (they shared their wealth with each other) and Jesus, if he were alive, would’ve been very anti-capitalist (i.e, sell all your possessions, it is easier for a camel to enter through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter into heaven, etc.). Jesus definitely would’ve been a communist, anarcho-communist, or some other such thing (Marx actually wanted the government to eventually whither away, and anarchists don’t want any government).
PS, I’m neither a Christian, socialist, or communist, etc.

One, socialism, only serves its own selfish purposes it is covetousness. And to covet thy neighbors goods is breaking one of Gods 10 commandments. Christian is to have complete and utter faith in Jesus Christ not the Government. Jesus Christ never taught to trust in Rome (the government) Jesus is the way the truth and the light. Well originally, we used a latin word for black to describe people from that part of the world, but now that word is viewed as extremely hateful and racist that we are forced to use even different words.
The Spanish word for black is unacceptable as well.
Soon the English word for black will be unacceptable.

    Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
    would oppose Black Lives
    Matter, Antifa, and Critical
    Race Theory were he alive
    today. Reverend King said:

    “I have a dream

    of their character."
