    Thailand's is the 2nd largest in the world. The largest one, opened in Nov 2019, is in Chicago at 3251 sq. meters (35000 sf) and has 4 floors. I'm in Chicago and used to be a baker there. Our recipes came from Princi (joint venture partnership with Starbucks) in Milan, Italy and we received frozen dough from a central kitchen in Chicago every day to be baked fresh in the store twice a day. Very expensive but customers in Chicago don't mind paying for good quality and the "ambiance". Cocktails and wine were the big moneymakers though.

    ICONSIAM is the most beautiful shopping mall I have ever seen. It is worth the visit, even if you don't buy anything. The top of luxury (you can shop Bentley of Maserati, Gucci and Louis Vuitton), but also mid range restaurants, and fast food. The extraordinary is the water music show in the evenings ! Splendid !

    Thailand can be expensive if you want to live a western lifestyle there.

    • @RansomMemoryAccess
      @RansomMemoryAccess 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It depends on what you consider western lifestyle. You can still enjoy luxury at budget prices, but it's so much on offer - spending loads of money is as easy as anywhere. Especially if you get in the monopoly money mindset because the bath generally is worth less than most western currencies.

    This is a place people come to hang out and enjoy the view and spend time. You do not come here to get a coffee to go and walk out. Much different than in the US or elsewhere. This is a luxury experience that people do for a special occasion. There are also benefit cards from Thailand Starbucks that has rewards similar to the US. Buy one get one, free desert etc after earning points. Before pandemic Starbucks on the 2nd floor, Icon Siam, always busy with tourists and locals.

      @Nebula37 Starbucks is serving decent coffee, but not the best in the world. I agree with you that it’s a good ‘hang out’ place to meet friends or sit down for a couple of hours without feeling embarrassed that you only ordered 1 drink.

    Epic views on the terrace...would totally enjoy a tasty Starbucks beverage while watching the world go by on the river at sunset. Stayed right next door @ the Millenium Hilton a few years ago when they were building Icon Siam

      You can come to Bangkok! You just have to do 16 days of strict hotel quarantine at your own expense. I'm currently in Day 4 and I can see IconSiam from my hotel room (which I haven't left in 106 hours). Look up "Thailand COE" and you'll find all the details.

      @@biztosdotcom yeah I know all about it, but sorry for this year I think I’ll pass...it seems very hard and unfair to spend 15 days in total isolation at my own expenses. A negative Covid test should be enough, anyway good luck with that!

    Starbucks charge 160 Baths for a cup of coffee, I can buy locally brew organic coffee for just 30 Baths and honestly, I think the 30 Baths tastes better.

    I like the little kiosks often set up outside Macros. I enjoying supporting the independents whenever possible. Starbucks is also a favorite, and have enjoyed them all over Bangkok.

    This Starbucks has a fantastic view, all the women are thin, cute, polite & well dressed. Unlike in a western country. This store is gorgeous.

    Unlike everyone else commenting here, I actually think Starbucks coffee is decent. I do find it puzzling that they seem to have higher prices in Thailand than they do in the USA though. In any event, the Starbucks in this video looks pretty cool. I'll definitely check it out if I can ever get back to Thailand.
