I used to drive up once a year from SC to Frederick, Maryland to visit cousins years ago and NEVER knew about Shenandoah Jct, always hung around Point of Rocks and Brunswick then a trip to Cumberland while there. Wish I had known about that place. How many trains run through Shenandoah Jct between CSX and NS a day?
I'd say between 30 and 40 easily over a 24 hour period when it is a weekday and MARC is running. Maybe even more- but traffic is extremely sporadic, especially on NS. You can expect 4 morning and 4 evening MARC trains, Amtrak capitol limited both east and west, a couple of CSX and NS coal trains, multiple intermodals on NS and CSX, multiple mixed freight trains on CSX and NS, some autoracks on CSX, occasionally a grain train or ethanol train on CSX. Occasionally a work train on either line. Sometimes you have hours with no trains, and other times they all come at once. Sometimes CSX is packed and NS is dead; and vice-versa. I highly recommend this spot!!
Coming through Smooth and Fast... Awesome !!
Thanks! Have a great week 😀
Nice catch!!!
Thank you!!
Very nice stack train Happy Monday havea safe week!!😊😊
I remember this one too! I'm glad I included OOOHHHHHHH in my version
NS has a ton of intermodals
NS sure does! Since the bridge collapse, I haven't seen I137 or I138 run at a normal length on CSX
NS 3605 is actually an ET44AC

@@oldmainproductions NS runs some coal on the Hagerstown line? Didn't realize that.
@milepost4846 yep! not as frequently as they used to a few years ago, but there's still a few coal trains that go through on the NS H line!
