      @Josanne, I agree! I'm so glad that I found her videos!!
      I love that she is doing these experiments and sharing with us!
      Are you a pour paint artist also?
      I just discovered Acrylic Pouring on 6/7/22 and I've already done 7 pour Paintings and posted 4 videos on my Channel!
      The first 2 were actually tempera paint pours because that's all I had.
      The next one was with Acrylic craft paints.
      The next one (6/12/22) was what I consider to be my first official one, because it was done with "real" Acrylic Paints and it turned out beautifully if I do say so myself! Lol
      Happy Pouring!!

    As a newbie this was super useful and informative.
    I’m in Australia and have easy access to the floetrol but am discovering that the cells can be a bit much. From your video, the water and paint combo looked the most vivid in terms of colour purity with the US floetrol adding a bit of extra interest.
    Thanks so much for sharing this.

    Claire thank you so much for doing this experiment, it took a lot of time and effort on your part and is really appreciated. As you rightly said, art is very personal and for Dutch Pours I prefer just the water BUT with really good quality paint. Rinske Douna is a master at these pours and only uses either Windsor & Newton or Amsterdam paints. Her dutch pours are gorgeous, really etherial but not really celled. It was incredible to see how your results differed with the different products. Thank you.

    Each painting has its pros and cons. It's really in the eye of the beholder. What effect you are going for. So many flow artists copy each other and don't experiment or try to be creative on their own. The flow art technique can be used in other ways, such as for florals and landscapes. Even abstracts. Don't copy everything you see, find a way to use the flow acrylics in other kinds of art. Great tutorial on using the different products, thanks!

    • @DifferentLightDeb
      @DifferentLightDeb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Angie-zx8ft One suggestion you might try is to decide to splurge on the Aussie Floetrol, but order it from an American supplier (PixelPaintDesigns) so you don't have to pay as much for shipping. THEN.... rather than using the Aussie Floetrol as your pouring medium, try putting just an ounce or so into a shallow plastic lid (think yogurt cup lid, for example) and then, if appropriate for your style of painting, dipping a strip of acetate into it, and use that acetate as a swipe across your paint.. amazing cells result. Learned this from watching Priscilla Batzell of Expressionist Art Studio.

    Thank you for showing this. I've never used the UK and US floetrol and despite everyone saying the Aussie floetrol is the best, I thought they're all pretty much the same. Watching this has now shown me. I'm in Australia, so it's all I use. I only use the glue and water mix for the base coat on the canvas. I find that Amsterdam paint with Aussie floetrol gives the best cell activation doing swipes. I'm glad you like our floetrol. I feel for anyone buying it overseas because they pay a lot more for it.

    • @juliegriffin2255
      @juliegriffin2255 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you should consider painting the canvases with one or two coats of paint prior to pouring so the texture of the canvas does not intrude so much on your otherwise lovely designs. Perhaps let the first coat fully dry, then the second coat can be wet or dry prior to the pouring. This hides a lot of spots that might also be bare under your design. Worth the time. Thanks

      @@juliegriffin2255 I also saw a lot of balding, or spots of what looks like just colored canvas. Like you I also paint my canvases with either a diluted house paint or just a coat or 2 of acrylic. Loved this experiment & preferred the water over all PM. 😁

    • @juliegriffin2255
      @juliegriffin2255 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yvette_is_Mamacado a lot of times in life, we are trained to need and buy things that we don't actually need. That is true of PM and also in our diets. I have made paintings with and without PM (only water) and with and without other additives. One day, I used hand sanitizer because I did not have any other additives to try--just the hand sanitizer and water. The paintings that day were gorgeous. I have discovered that my paintings are the most beautiful when I say a prayer or set an intention right before pouring the paint. When I pray in gratitude, the paintings look the most beautiful.

    Fab experiment. Thankyou. I think all too often we get caught up in a 'craze' where we all want something just because everyone else has it - currently seems to be the Aussie Flotrol. However, what this demonstrates is that it really is all about personal preference. Thankyou for spending your time showing us what each medium can do - side by side I can now see that I'm not that keen on the multi cell look, and instead if I were to invest in any, it would be the American, closely followed by the British.

    I have to say YAY for the USA Floetrol. 🙂 I'm in the US so that's all I have access to, but to have you say that you like it best, was amazing. I shouldn't say that it's all I have access to, because there are other types and brands of pouring mediums, but I like the Floetrol the best. I personally don't like an overwhelming amount of cells, and I'm not crazy about super large ones either. I think the big cells take away from the composition of a painting, and to many small cells seem to hide the paint, or push it out of the way. Thank you for this awesome demonstration. It was the best one I've seen, and I've watched many, and tried many as well. I Love your work, and have tried a few of your ideas, without much success, but then I'm pretty new to pouring. Eventually I'll get there, and I hope I can create masterpieces like yours someday. 🙂 God Bless, and Happy Pouring.

    Rinske Douna uses only water with her Amsterdam paints and always has a nice mixture of soft bloom and cells, I think... It's so pricey here in the UK to get hold of either US or Aussie Floetrol, so this makes me quite happy! Thanks for this comparison, Claire.

    I agree with all your assessments. I also agree with your making sure to give the Australian floetrol a fair shake with the extra canvases. Well done.
