Wow this actually makes sense. It sounds more like a Dissociatives than a Young Modern song!

And the middle melody was taken off and used in Silverchair song "English Garden"

Damn I had no idea this song was written three years earlier than Young Modern! Thank you what an awesome find

This is such a bonkers song. I remember hearing it for the first time on this tour (The Dissociatives) and thinking it sounds like something from The Nightmare Before Christmas. After all these years (pun intended) I'm still not sure what to think of it!

It's similar to Silverchair's song "(Without You)". That was written during the Neon Ballroom Era. And I guess you could say the same thing about the song "( 16 )". Yeah it wasn't released by Silverchair themselves officially, but they did play it live 6 times in 2010, and then in 2015 on Daniel Johns's Solo album "Talk" he released the song "(16)". And lastly if you think back to Silverchair's early days, during late 1995, through to late 1996, they were playing alot of The "Freak Show" albums songs live on tour. Oh and Silverchair were playing a very similar version of the song "(Spawn Again)", during the latter part of The Freak Show World Tour, which ultimately ended up being on Neon Ballroom. So it seems they Silverchair, and Daniel Johns himself have and/or had, being doing this since basically the Band's early years beginning with The Frogstomp World Tour throughout 1995 and 1996. So yeah, just a very small tid bit of information their. But I guess most Bands and I'm sure a large majority especially towards the beginnings of a bands history they will have that in their catalogue. Guns N' Roses for example, The song off Chinese Democracy called This I Love was written during the Use Your Illusions era, and November Rain was written well before Appetite for destruction, as was Don't Cry. And I'm sure their are so many songs from not just Silverchair or GN'R that have dozens and dozens of songs with some sort of idea or demo or blue print of a song put down, but for any number of reasons it didn't suit the albums sound or tracklisting etc, etc. So yeah thankyou to anyone who literally takes the time to read this long, long, massive comment/post, I appreciate it. Peace from Tom in, Sydney, Australia.

Well, the Spawn Again thing is because it was originally a song called Spawn, made for the movie Spawn, and it was revamped into Spawn Again (hence the again) for Neon Ballroom.

Diehard chair / dissos / DJ fan. I love this version a lot more than the (still awesome) YM version.
