For the business activities, what happens if you're doing multiple things like for example (Fitness, cutting grass, making music) what if I want to do all of these things under one business name?
Great question! The ministry has put in regulations that the business names and activities must correlate. So for example, if you have different types of activities, you may need to register as separate businesses for the names and activities to match :) OR If you choose to incorporate a business, there is no limits on the different types of business activities. You can run many different types of business all under the same corporation. For more information on this, check out our videos on incorporation (th-cam.com/video/xsdvok6PUzU/w-d-xo.html) , or reach out to us at inquiries@ontariobusinesscentral.ca or 1-416-599-9009 to speak with one of our friendly and knowledgeable agents :)
What kind of tax deductions can I make once a sole proprietorship is made where I would work from my home? Part of rent for an office? Hydro? Internet? Can business expenses be retroactively deducted (for example if I started a business in January, and register now could I deduct expenses from January on)?
Hi, thank you for your inquiry. Yes, business expenses such as a portion of the home, internet and hydro can be paid by the business and taken away from your personal income from the business. It is best to speak to a tax expert to get the applicable amounts for your circumstances. We wish you all the best in your business!
Hello OBC, Love the video it is very informative and easy to understand although I still have a question. Can I get an import/export license for my sole proprietorship in Ontario? Am I allowed to import/export goods on a sole proprietorship?
Hi Anant, thank you for your compliment. Yes, you can import or export goods. You can obtain an import/export licence for a Sole Proprietorship in Ontario. If you register with us, you can include the import and export licence set at the same time as registering.
Glad you liked it! Unfortunately sole proprietorships don’t have name protection. The only options for name protection would be to incorporation or to trademark the name 🙂 For any additional help send us an email at inquiries@ontariobusinesscentral.ca or call us at 416-599-9009 we would love to help!
@@pauljamieson803 Thank you for your inquiry, Paul. If you are looking to Trademark the name of your business, you will want to search for a Trademarking agent in your area. We are not able to complete a Trademark.
If I register my sole proprietorship as "ABC123", does my TH-cam channel have to have the same name? Or can I choose a different name in the form of "ABC123" operating as *insert TH-cam Channel name*?
Thank you for reaching Sahsouh. Yes, you are able to employ individuals for your start up. If you do have employees on your payroll, you can set up a payroll account through the CRA or us. This is our link: www.ontariobusinesscentral.ca/forms/bn-registration.php
Yes Badis, you can. The business will need a physical location in the jurisdiction you wish to register. Your personal address can be in Canada or abroad. Hope this helps!!
Hi. How r u? Can any science student do business in canada like mobile store business, any kind of business if they have masters in science (MSc) degree? I mean is it compulsory to have a person MBA degree to register in business website in canada or start business in canada? Because I am an MSc student
Hi Abdul, there is no criteria in Canada to hold a degree to start a business. Having a degree in a field that you intend to pursue a business can always be a plus. If you are a professional such as a lawyer, accountant, chiropractor who wants to practice their profession, there is a specific form of incorporation called a "professional Incorporation" that applies only to those individuals. I hope I have answered your question.
@@OntarioBusinessCentral May u explain me your last sentence. I didn't understand that pls. "if you are a professional such as an accountant who wants to practice their profession, there is a specific form of incorporation called a "professional incorporation" that applies only to those individuals"
