Nah you can’t let 16 seconds run off the clock, there’s no explanation for not giving that young green quarterback to process a situation like that!!! Period!
What’s so hard about that? Those other guys are vets. They did this with Kirk. What’s the difference? They obviously knew the play already. Just get lined up and run it! There’s nothing to process. They’ve done this thousands of times before. That’s why Raheem let the clock run, so Penix didn’t have to try to solve a complex defense. Mooney won his route with like 5 yards to spare. Penix missed him. Like Arch said, it happens.
@@dukeonwheels The rush-to-line-up vs Tampa was a shorter distance. Time out would've saved 16 seconds & allowed 2 more plays for possibly a shorter FG. Coach Rah was reckless with "The Church's Money" and lost a crucial winnable game.
@@dukeonwheels at the end of the day, I would rather my young inexperienced quarterback to go against a complex defense, who actually been seeing exotic defense all night rather than battling time. Time wins 9/10 times my brother.
Raheem can come with all the dumb excuses in the world, but anybody who knows football knows he was bluffing. Not only did he not call a timeout in two different instances, his players showed no urgency to run to the line, which indicates a coaching issue.
You’re talking about the same offense that ran a play to the middle of the field and was able to get lined up for a spike in 12 seconds against the Bucs on TNF to send the game to OT. They’ve done this a thousand times before. What does a coach have to do differently to get his players to execute a situation they’ve navigated flawlessly against the Eagles, Bucs, and Saints?
I cannot believe how Archie is sitting up there giving a pass to Raheem for that bone headed decision. He himself questioned Raheem during the broadcast as to why a timeout was not called. That explanation simply does not fly. I don't care what Quinn could have dialed up for Michael P, you have to give him multiple opportunities and time which he did not, instead of placing even more pressure on the guy. I'm so sick of the Derrick, Archie and DJ constantly giving this coach a pass every week. SMH.
Coach Morris didn't want to let Quinn's defense get set. Wanted to keep them off-balance... Unfortunately, there was not enough time for that strategy. Call a T.O. have a quick-hitting play to avoid a sack...We needed six more yards for makeable FG range.
If you call the timeout... yeah they can try some exotic pressure package, but at least you get multiple tries to score ( or at least gain more yardage). by not calling the timeout, you only get one shot at it.
Thank you. I agree whole heartedly. I'm really surprised at Archie giving Raheem an out on this terrible decision. He himself questioned Raheem's failure to call a timeout during the broadcast and now reverses course. Rob Tribble is the guy to listen too, Atlanta sports guy.
@WilliamPaul-v3b To clarify for you, I'm surprised because Me. Archer said during the game radio broadcast he did not understand why a time out was not taken and is now seemingly understanding. If it's because he's a paid employee, he was paid when he said it on the radio., what's the difference There you go
Daniels was locked down in the 1st half, don't tell half-truths. Lake and Morris played not to lose instead of playing to win in the second half. Any quarterback will kill you dropping 8. Another lost season due directly to coaching.
I'm really happy you guys broke it down and explained it a little bit for people to hear. I don't like the decision to not call a timeout in those situations but the Raheem and staff put thought into this situation. I would be livid if it was a case of a coach being clueless in the situation but that is not the case here.
"I would be livid if it was a case of a coach being clueless in the situation but that is not the case here." well thats what it was. Its not "if" lol.
@@Dankbanker-i2c it’s way deeper than that bud this game was lost when we didn’t run the ball in the 2nd half we played perfect complimentary football in the 1st half only to completely abandoned the running game in the 2nd half & I don’t care if you would have settled for field goals the whole 2nd half we would have controlled the clock & held the lead it’s not rocket science play to your strengths & what we do best & our identity is running the ball & our coaches gassed our defense from once again NOT RUNNING THE BALL . These guys work for the Falcons organization, they will never say exactly what they feel. All i know is ,they hired the wrong coach. Raheem is a coordinator and not head coach material.
There’s no excuse for not calling the timeouts. To bring up successes from a 13 year NFL veteran from earlier in the year as an excuses to not call a TO for A ROOKIE QB in his SECOND START. Is ridiculous. After 5 seconds you see it’s taking to long you call the timeout and even then it’s to long to not call the TO
To think he threw his first touchdown passed to get us to overtime. In his second start. First start on the road. To receivers the he has not thrown to in practice for most of the season. Successfully completed to Kyle Pitts. Who gave him his first interception. The week prior. Penix is the truth. The future looks bight.
these guys are ridiculous. They know the dang truth. If they don't they need to change careers. They don't want to lose the press pass, it's that simple
This is definitely the lowest point in the season because if we’re all being fr tampa isnt losing Sunday. We are done unfortunately i just hope we go all in next year and this team needs to understand that the playoffs is the expectations this is ridiculous. Getting close to a decade long drought from the playoffs
The interception because the QB not enough time practicing with the starting offense. Blame coaching staff. Zack needed to be more assertive with Morris about that.😮
Cousins should have been benched after the horrendous loss in the Broncos game. The Falcons had nothing to lose but more games. This is and was a sign of poor management and coaching.
When I watched that game...... I saw Jackson put his Superman cape on....just like Lamar Jackson, just like Allan and have an MVP type performance.....and he should have lost to Penix if Morris just called a TO. That's how good Penix was clutch wise in that game. Wash had the ball the whole 3 Qtr and most of the 4th and Penix still with a few passes almost won that game Penix has that Brady, Manning, Mahones "IT" gene..... You can play the game of your life and still walk away scratching your head, wondering how you lost.
The Atlanta Falcons and the Washington Commanders will meet next year. The Sunday night game had 19.7 million viewers this hasn't happened since 2019. Jayden Daniels and Michael Penix Jr is a big draw. The NFL is all about ratings and the bottom line. 🤔
Im convince a call was made by NFL, because it is not time for rhe Falcons. They was not expected to play like that and they didn't want anorher Philadelphia game. We wasnt suppose to win.
The penalty the Falcons had at the beginning of the second half. Where they came off of back-to-back sacks. Changed everything.
