I bought the remaster for PS5. I've not kept up with gaming in years. With the death of Max Payne voice actor James McCaffrey, I was introduced to other Remedy works such as Alan Wake and Control. So far, not disappointed. Looking forward to part 2.
i think the story is really good in the first game, and the ways they expand on it in future games is interesting. but the gameplay is abysmal, i put it on easy and just coasted so i could move on from gameplay sections lmao
I actually had a slightly different experience. I didn't mind the clunky-ness of the gameplay. (that rarely puts me off of a game) I liked the flashlight concept. But the story and Alan's character was what turned me off two times before I decided to grit my teeth and power through it. Only in the last third of the game did I get interested in what happens with other characters. I couldn't care less about Alan and his 'fridged' wife.
I picked it up as it was on sale for $10 and yeeeaaah, it sucks! I cant even get into it! Im at this part where you are fighting some shadow things in like a lodge yard or something? Dumb dumb, DUMB! You know what it reminded me of? A crapy version of Deadly Premonition and i loooove DP 🤦🏾♀️
Picked up alan wake 1 a month or so ago. . . . Bounced off it hard. Just couldn't get into it. No hate, just didnt like it and i really wanted to like it.
@@radkatzplus9294 The main character aside from Alan Wake was bland and stilted. She had like no character growth aside from a shoehorned in segment near the end that ends as quickly as it starts. I get the impression a lot of the game was trying to build up dread or suspense or something along those lines but I never felt it. Maybe I'm just too desensitised to horror but those segments just bored me. Also the ending was not great. An "oh no something bad happened, cut to black" kind of affair.

Yeah, Alan Wake's story was good, the gameplay for 1 was....yeah, rough
Switched to easy difficulty half way through due to frustrating game play. This made the game much more enjoyable 😁
