The first of several wrong things that Phil did to Mitch. Plus as Mitch said in the other voicemail at the end to Phil - he was marrying his sister so that was the more primary reason he couldn’t date his cousin 🤣

This scene isn’t in the video here, but later when Claire and Phil were fake fighting to teach the kids a lesson for finding out everything on the answering machine: Where Claire was being sarcastic and joking to Phil that if she hadn’t gotten pregnant by him, she would have married her ex-boyfriend Bobby Nash and that’s where it got real and Phil was no longer faking any more. I don’t think that Phil had the full luxury to be upset about that though, because as was revealed in the Tableau Vivant episode in season 3, Phil wanted to break up with Claire in the early days of their relationship and he tried to but he couldn’t because he was too scared to do it as he is when it comes to telling the truth, being honest and upfront with people. So that reveal in season 3 I’d say calls into question Phil’s stance as a dad and in their family if it had all been a mistake and a lie to him because he wouldn’t have all of it if he hadn’t been too afraid to break up with Claire in the first place. Still, he stayed and didn’t run. Basically, it’s like the writers either forgot about Phil’s reveal in Tableau Vivant or were trying to change it to make fans feel more sympathy for him. Not that I didn’t sympathise with Phil; only a little for what Claire said, but what he said back in season 3 just makes me question their dilemma in this episode even though Claire wasn’t serious about what she said about Bobby.
I don't think that's much of a problem. It's mentioned at some point that Claire herself wasn't sure about their relationship for six months in, which is when she was pregnant with Haley. So it makes sense that the point when Phil wanted to break up with Claire was way before that point because Phil is never depicted as a guy who would leave a pregnant girlfriend. Why on Earth would that fleeting moment of doubt that he had in a very young relationship call into question his stance as a dad now, 20 years into marriage and such a devoted husband that he cannot even bear to LISTEN to a music that he heard when he was with someone else? So both of them had their doubts along the way, as do most couples, and they were pregnant in less than six months they were together. I mean...I don't think there's a lot of people who are sure about wanting to spend the rest of their lives together less than six months into their relationship. Phil is upset because he loves his family more than anyone else in the world. Of course he'd be heartbroken to think his wife would be with someone else.(which is of course a mistake) Why would the fact that he wasn't sure about her VERY early on their relationship be a problem to how he feels about her now?

I'm trying to figure out what you meant instead of "in thrater seasons". In three seasons? Other seasons? Hailey was basically "stupid" in every season.
You mean with how the kids find out from the answering machine that Phil and Claire got pregnant with Haley while they were still in college? If so, then yes, I agree. That calls a lot into question, particularly how they made it all seem that they only got married because Claire was pregnant. As I've also commented, it's like the writers had forgotten that in Tableau Vivant at the end of season 3, Phil said that in the early days of their relationship, he wanted and tried to break up with Claire but didn't because he was too scared to. Whether that was before or when they were expecting Haley wasn't revealed, but it likely wasn't. Remembering that, it calls whether Phil maybe felt that their married life and family was a lie and a mistake to him because although he didn't run away, Phil still thought about and brought it up after 20 years. Therefore, when they were fake fighting and Phil got upset, I don't think he had the full luxury to be because if he hadn't been so afraid, he would have broken up with Claire and they wouldn't have their marriage and kids.
"i have to be with claire!!"..how can you not love phil..
Classy start to a classy life

This show ALWAYS made my evening! One of the best shows to come out of American TV! 🎉
That is why she doesn’t allow Haley to go to the concert😂
Just about EVERY sitcom nowadays has it revealed that the parents only got married because the mom got pregnant. 🙄
name every sitcom that happened

I think that's a very common thing
Just checked. A bit less common than it used to be. Around 60 years ago it was roughly half of all marriages
So what it makes a good show
Such a great episode!😅
Julie looking absolutely gorgeous!
phil ruined wayne's world for me😂😂
@1:14 why cut out the best part for no reason.
