Bit of a trivial one but in 2010, Alan Didak kicked a hat-trick of goals vs WCE in under a minute beating the soccer world record of 70 seconds. I was there that night too
It's not supernatural that Didak hasn't played at the SCG. I just did a quick search and Nick Maxwell hasn't either, so I'm guessing most of those Collingwood guys from that era haven't. Daniel Harford climbed the post in 1998 against Essendon. Russell Robertson being on almost footy legends is quite known, it was on their best of 2004 dvd. Here is a fun fact - I dated an AFL players sister 😄
Yep, during that era we played away games against the Swans at Homebush. Collingwood also plays away games against the Cats at the MCG, so it’s unlikely any recent Pies player has straddled Kardinia Park, at least while wearing a black and white jersey.
The SCG fact does surprise me, I definitely remember watching Bucks, Rocca, and Tarrant play at the SCG multiple times, these guys did play with Didak tho may have been half a generation older than Didak/Maxwell etc. Then later, from 2012 - 2023 all Collingwood v Sydney games were at the SCG for 10+ years in a row. I guess there must have been a time in between where the pies never played the SCG.
You mentioned Gaol time in promo , Did you know , that Former Australian Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies, used to stop at Pentridge Prison to pick up Carlton superstar John Nicholls chauffeur driven to Princes Park and let out the Bentley next to the Robert Heatley Stand, watch him and his Blues play and go to dinner and drop him back at Pentridge, A trivial matter , smack on wrist today , luv it
Would be cool to do a video about club champions actually playing for two teams - ie. Buckley starting at Brisbane Bears and Gary Ablett Sr at Hawthorn.
The league officially recognises Richmond as the wooden spoon winners because they came last overall, but Fitzroy came last at the end of the home-away season. I guess it's kind of hard to say when it should have stopped being counted because all 4 teams played in finals, unlike now days if you come last at the end of the home-away season that's it, because you don't play in finals. But even the last place team for the 1916 season played so there is an argument to be made that they could have counted up until the GF.
I’m not sure if this is true, so I apologise if I’m wrong, but apparently Luke shuey won the norm smith medal (2018) and “statistically” performed better than every other player to win a norm smith medal! Not sure if this is confirmed but very interesting!
Guess what! I don't have any claim to fame, nor have I ever done anything of note to help the human race. However, the fact that Fitzroy won both the wooden spoon and the premiership in the same year has become common knowledge, throughout the football world, I feel is my doing. Let me explain! Being a die hard Saints supporter I purchased a book with all the VFL/ AFL records of every game since 1896. I did find that over decades and decades that my beloved Saints had their problems and the stats weren't good( actually abysmal). Whilst studying the records I ran across the anomaly of Fitzroys results in 2016. Deciding to make an AFL trivia question of it, I started to ask some mates which club won both the wooden spoon and the premiership in the same year. Nobody could answer bar one bloke who guessed it must of been a world war year ,but he couldn't guess the club. That happened close to 20 years ago and has taken hold throughout the football world over the last decade. So without putting myself on a pedestal I do feel that although I've contributed close to nothing for society I really think I do think I managed to contribute this almost meaningless piece of information. KUDOS TO ME🍻🍻😁🐎🐎👏👏👏🍻😁🍻🍻
The league officially recognises Richmond as the wooden spoon winners because they came last overall, but Fitzroy came last at the end of the home-away season. There were also only 4 teams competing this season because of the war.
Not sure what the record is. But hawthorn have one a grand final every decade since the 60s 61 71,76,78 83,86,88,89 91 08 13,14,15 Hopefully 2020s coming up
In 1945, the week of the Preliminary final when Carlton and Collingwood were to play , Carlton skipper Bob Chitty, cut off his finger in an accident at the munitions factory, he starred , and then he led Carlton to the famous Blood bath Grand Final Premiership, they were hard men then , GO BLUES
Yeah, it's because Fitzroy was last at the end of the home-away season but Richmond finished last when you include the finals games. So I guess it's about when you think the counting should end/if finals should go towards these kinds of scores
Amazing , the longest run by the same team without a change is 7 games , not many , but in footy, that's nearly 2 months that a long run , but WHO DID THIS ,WHICH TEAM and WHEN ,I'm so curious , cool I enjoyed that , even if you did miss only 1 GF ,has an aggerate of 50 goals , the first GF won by the team kicking the least goals , Collingwood did this for the second time ,(as usual last year ) nah it was informative
In 2016 the dogs were the first time in AFL/VFL history to have a premiership handed to them on a platter. Despite not being the best team on grand final day the AFL gave them the win to give their supporters something to cheer about. The only game in VFL/AFL history to have an *
Who body jumps the AFL players or are they under computer control I'm sure there hands are under control and when kicking for goal I say there robots playing foos ball😅
