The system is absolutely broken, its messed up. And the fact that the system lets the claimant decide an not a third party is so fucked up. I had someone claim ALL of my music because they ripped it and added my music into content ID.

So, as an "IT" professional myself, the especially problematic aspect of all this is that I KNOW the algorithm can be improved, but TH-cam/Google just choose to not prioritize it. It's just pathetic. It's literally their user base's content that made TH-cam what it is, and they now abjectly disrespect these people. It makes me disrespect Google right back. Honestly, it's one of the reasons I went back to Apple for my primary computing device. Might as well. When an actually viable alternative comes along, I'll be championing it.

Man this is such BS. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I write my own music too but I don't post it on TH-cam for reasons such as this. Plus someone could easily steal it and claim it as their own because I don't have all the legal stuff taken care of + not associated with BMG or ASCAP, etc although I'm well aware of how important that is for serious, well known musicians. I hope YT fixes this crap so good content creators/musicians like you don't have to go through this BS!

Not enough people watched Terminator growing up... Haha. But honestly man the more they try to trust automated systems for regulation, the more the implications of the double edged sword of AI are presented. If it sucks, this happens, if it gets good, then it becomes a tool that can be easily used for nefarious purposes. And you made a good point about it's like copyrighting the C major triad. The same thing happened to me. Like you, I publish my own music videos weekly but in my case every Saturday. (sorry for the plug) I like the Distro kid scanning in advance concept. TH-cam should have its own free scanning system like Distro Kid's for us content creators for example in TH-cam Studio. Scan in advance of publishing. Knowing in advance could allow us to augment the track at the pre-publication level. We could make subtle changes before uploading. Sorry to see this happen to you.

I’ve had two completely original tracks on my SoundCloud account ‘claimed’ by Warner Music Group. Both tracks have been disabled/removed. (Both tracks are still available on Spotify.)
I’ve tried disputing the claim using SoundCloud’s claim dispute process, but I get back the same auto-response. SoundCloud simply tells me to take it up with Warner Music Group. I’ve never had a response from a human on the matter.
They’re not claiming that my tracks infringe on tracks they have publishing rights/copyright over. They’re claiming my tracks actually belong to them.
For me, music is just semi-serious hobby, so I’ve basically given up trying to get them to correct their mistake.
These platforms and their shi* y ContentID algorithms need to be held accountable. TH-cam is is particularly unwilling to respect Fair Use/Fair Dealing exemptions, but even large YT content creators who have had work unjustly claimed, such as Rick Beato, do nothing, despite having enough clout to create a stink on social media, and potentially even a crowdfunded class action lawsuit.

Subscribers and TH-cam channels are replaceable, but all the work you’ve put into making these videos over the years isn’t. I feel for you and other creators Dylan, some cruel realities here in YT land for sure
    :(
*It could be years before it happens again, but it's likely all the same(when not if).
*It's no more broken than it was 5 years ago, in reality - you've been blindly bumbling along and have been fine until now - that's not negative or criticism, but it is the reality
*By accepting YT platform to grow your audience, this rubbish lands with that territory unfortunately.
*There's nowt you can do about others likely not reviewing your video and on the face of a YT system message, taking money they're told they're entitled to.
*As bad as all of this is, and it is bad I know, imagine all monies are stripped from your hard work and the whole vid makes zero grrrrr
All I can say is this, I hope what happened brings you a new dawn of realisation. A new awareness (albeit unwelcome for sure) about what you change now. They say knowledge is power, and YT isn't gonna change - so sadly it has to come via you. Maybe, scrub through parts of the audio track. Play smaller snippets. Playing shorter parts from the different areas that were presented originally would make it hard for AI to flag it. People get away with playing copyright audio "clips" in vids and YT AI doesn't pick it up, when it's shorter. I watch channels where they play snippets of their own released music, and they don't get the AI bots flag it up. It has always been about how you do it, not what you do sadly. Your track should not have been flagged, but something within it set the flagging off unfortunately.
To me, as an outsider - there seemed zero point ignoring that warning and uploading it as it was. I know you shouldn't have to take pointless action - but it is what it is. So with this new knowledge, and changes on your part - you shouldn't see this again. But - this change will have to come from you alone, as YT will do jack shit about it. So, logically if this was me (and I appreciate it's not me) a way to mitigate this is, use smaller clips of audio, and have more than one project version edit file saved before you upload. These edits are only in the area where you plan to play complete audio - the rest of the video can be the same. You could have project A.1.1 and A.1.2. Version 1.2 could use short clips from say the start/middle and end of the beat/track instead. This would cheat the AI.
One YT channel I watch will literally when recording live, scrub through different areas of a completed released song on camera without edits and upload it without issues. So, in that respect - he's not creating 2 finished vid projects for uploading processing. So, he never plays a whole long part of his released track ever. You have to weigh up whether the changes you need to consider are worth it for you - my guess is, they would be worth it and in 3 months time you'll never think about this nightmare again.
Learn and benefit from this. Why not do something totally unique to correct this scenario? A free suggestion for ya...
    ;)
Edit the project you uploaded. Cut the AI flagged audio in places down to just say 7 second bursts from different parts of the track - not the whole thing. You can just cut/splice/fade the clips in. I've not watched the clip, so hopefully you aren't talking through it all and won't need to record new dialogue for that section. Then upload that, and prove to yourself that you can work around the crappy YT system. You've done all the work, so the edit would be peanuts in comparison. Then you can release it as a new vid here and use it to educate others too, win-win. Then you can remove the old vid and stop that other channel getting any further monies too if you like. This vid is liked regardless...
    :)
Edit: I've just watched that section the YT AI flagged. BS for sure, but it changes nothing. I can only imagine something in the audio in the beat you were building, sounded alike in places to the other audio track from the other vid you referenced. Possibly due to the really basic beat/nature? Who knows.
