  • Audubon Corkscrew Sanctuary is located east of Naples. It was an easy drive from our hotel in Naples (Staybridge Suites). It is a wonderful 2.5 mile walk on boardwalks though wetlands, 500 year old Cypress trees and swamp areas. We saw many alligators including 12 inch babies to a HUGE 12 foot gator, s well as many birds, raccoons and even Painted Buntings ( a first for me). The boardwalk is in amazing shape, with plenty of benches and shaded areas. I did push a wheelchair in case my hubby needed so the boardwalk was conducive to a wheelchair. There is a nice gift shop and a small cafe at the main building. Parking is adequate for the size of this activity. There are signs asking for you too keep the noise and talking down, most people obscured this, some people were loud and messed up the enjoyment of others but for the most part the serenity was preserved by most people.
This video is of the two days we went so you can see what we saw one day and then what we saw the next day. We did see way more alligators teh second day.
