Great trick for your ice box is to use salt ice if available. It's colder, stays as ice for longer. Just remember to wipe off the top of your drink before a big scull of your favorite bevy!
I use xt90 connectors, not much bigger than the existing plug, can handle 90 amps all day so running 5 amps is nothing and they just look nicer than a big old anderson hanging off a fridge.
You should also keep the car open as much as possible. A fully sealed/closed car will reach crazy hot temps in summer. So leave the windows down a bit and park it under shade if possible, or leave the doors open if your near the car.

I want to put a 12v fridge in the back of my camper. Question: would additional ventilation be required when the rear hatch is closed, to prevent the fridge from overheating?
Hi Bill, Yes, we definitely recommend you ensure your fridge is getting as much ventilation as possible to prevent it from overheating and causing problems. Regards, Mia
My 12 volt refrigerator had an E1 error code. Not sure if error codes are the same for the different brands on the market. Leaving the refrigerator disconnected from current didn't solve my problem. After getting the error code to appear i touched a second button that was opposite of the other on button and the temperature showed up on the display and the error code has stayed off. I made sure that the refrigerator was level because the error code for E1 on one brand of refrigerator was for the fan. I had been moving the refrigerator around reorganizing where I was placing the unit in a different area which could have had a more than 30% pitch causing the error code E1 and problems with the fan. Hope this helps anyone in the future.

A "house" battery, aka a second battery, run it on solar alone or solar and off the alternator as well using a VSR switch. That will make you able to run a 12v fridge most of the time.
I just spent about $1500 on a fridge, fridge slide, battery, battery box and solar panels and their advice is… “keep your drinks cold by putting them in an esky” haha, Nice one.
Hi there, Thank you for reaching out. If you could please contact social@4wdsupacentre.com.au with a video of the fault and your order number, we can look into this for you. Kind regards, Rachael
You made the same mistake as many campers do. You measured the open voltage at the end of the cable. This is incorrect. You have to do the measurement using the “running” fridge as a load…. Then probe your feed wire with sharp probes to see the voltage. Or use an adapter & probe the connector. The more current being drawn by the load at the end, the more volt drop you will get. This is why you need to use a thick copper cable. The current carrying capacity of a copper cable eg 40A is misleading. Go for 80A cable for less volt drop. See this video link for a better understanding. th-cam.com/video/svdcHeSavEY/w-d-xo.html Cheers….. TJ in West Australia
