I just stayed here 2 weeks ago, this place is amazing! I would highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't been yet. The buffet food was great and the beach was awesome. Lots of excursions around the area to do as well.
Yea I’m first! Was planning to upgrade to the palace but it was fully booked pre labor day, so we decided to just stick with our original reservation, the luggage scale is a plus, we were overweight on our 2 check in last time we are at the airport and Spirit air is a sucker on excess baggage fees! Hope the sargassum Armageddon is over by end of August.. fingers crossed🙏🙂
Great video but you missed 1 exciting part of the Beach Hotel, it's the Adult only pool that's tucked away between the two building that you stay at. This is a very calm atmosphere and a fun time - sorry I forgot the name of the pool.... your friends from Canada
🤷🏼♀️ it’s hard to predict - spring and summer tend to bring more seaweed. We recommend joining the Barcelo Facebook group, where you can chat with people who are there right now to see how the beach is 👍🏻
I really enjoyed my stay at the Barcelo Maya Beach. The food at the buffet is delicious and the waiters are fabulous and professional.I just came back from my trip 2 weeks ago and I am planing on going back for summer time🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Was the wifi free with your stay? I just booked through a vacations package there and it seemed to indicate that wifi is not included but on Barcelo's website it looks like it is. Not sure if the vacation package info is just outdated. Thanks for the response!
I went last year to the adults only. It was awesome! I did not see any sargassum until the last day of my trip. Even then it wasn't as bad as this! Amazing resort! It's huge!
@gabrielsanchez2448 Nope I believe not. I saw some people sneak in from the resorts next to us and as soon as staff noticed their different color bracelets, they kicked them out.
From my understanding, there is a waterpark on the grounds, can you confirm? I know you show the splash pad, but i thought there was a bit of a larger one too with slides?
There’s a bus that takes you between Barcelo resorts and to the Maya mall - but otherwise, there aren’t any carts to take you from your room or lobby to the beach 🤷🏼♀️ it’s not a very large resort to walk, but just keep that in mind.
They’re pretty similar 👍🏻 the Bahia Principe Tulum I would say is the newest and nicest one of the bunch and has lots of activities for kids 👍🏻 the Barcelo is great too, but a bit more dated.. although it’s part of a great complex with tons of activities as well
I'm going to Mexico for the first time ever in September. Just booked Maya Beach... My question is about tipping... Who do you need to tip, how much, in what currency and how often??
We tipped our housekeeper a few US dollars each day, a few dollars to the bar tenders whenever the service was great, and we tipped a few dollars at each meal - usually more at dinner time and at the specialty restaurants. Just use your discretion 🤷🏼♀️
@ThunderHockeyTFL Just curious if you visited The Palace while you were there. I didn't think it was included. So I asked them online if they offered day passes. They said I didn't need one, the palace is included.
We very much enjoyed your videos. We are heading to the Barcelo Tropical in a week for 10 days and we have been told that there is a really good spot to snorkel at. Do you know where that spot is? We are thinking it is over by the Barcelo Beach Resort, would like to know for sure.
We toured a superior room and a premium level suite only.. here are the links: Superior room: th-cam.com/video/RGc-oGXWjos/w-d-xo.html Suite: th-cam.com/video/JDyOktDYwUE/w-d-xo.html
We booked a vacation package that included our transfers. You can also google “Cancun airport transfers”. We’ve used Canada Tranafers in the past and they’ve been great 👍🏻
Thanks for watching! The Mayan Riviera has a lot to offer, from adventure, to culture, to shopping… there are Tour operators at the hotel that can help you book your activities. We didn’t do any excursions this time but we love taking catamaran and snorkelling excursions 👍🏻
Here’s a link to their pricing. I’m sure those prices are subject to change 🤷🏼♀️ www.barcelo.com/content/dam/bhg/master/es/hoteles/mexico/cancun/occidental-costa-cancun/documentos/SALUD%20Y%20BIENESTAR.pdf
Have not been since my wedding in 2000. Planning on going back with the kids this year. I am sure much has changed. Does it matter which hotel you stay at? seems they are all the same.
Hi, great video! My family and I are going to Barcelo in a few days, on August 17th, may I ask what's the seaweed situation are like right now? Thank you!
Can’t say about right now, but when we went in June, it was not bad at all. I would recommend joining the Barcelo Maya Grand Facebook page - and you can ask people who are currently there to show you pics of the beach 👍🏻 have a great trip!
Hola & Hello the1412, I live in//on Riveria Maya & sargassum is HORRIBLE this year. Normally, it begins its' invasion of our beautiful beaches in May. This year, it began arriving in February; getting progressively worse monthly. I've lived here since 2007 & this is the WORST year I've ever seen. Locals say the same. If you're planning a trip here, I recommend ANYTIME after mid-October. Also, by then our rainy season & hurricane season is all but over. 🙂 After 20 October is my recommendation. Best regards, Ben

How was the seaweed situation in this hotel? Was it affected this year? I'm planning to choose this hotel for next year's trip to Mexico. I went earlier this year to the Grand Riviera Princess, loved it. Great hotel and beach area, so I'm a bit hesitant about going back to the Princess or try this one out. The beach area is already a negative point, compared with the beach at the Riviera Princess, but it would be ok if there's no seaweed during Summer time at the Barcelo Maya.
@@WherewegoingNext Thanks for the reply! That's great to know. How about the beach itself? I see you said it is great. Is it worth compared with other hotels? I see there are a lot of rocks... I enjoy your videos, really helpful when planning my trips and choose the best hotel/option!
There are some rocks scattered throughout the beach at the Barcelo complex. The only really bad beach is at the Maya Palace where you can’t enter the water. Other than that, it’s gorgeous and the water was so warm in June! We saw lots of people in the water at the Maya Beach and Caribe and that was our fave spot as well!
Realy Nice but in wondering how much is it fir the premium lounge because for the Brand of alcool I would not pay for that tequila José cuervo gold 😂😂 give me some class azul I will pay
@@WherewegoingNext yes but the Brand of alcool They propose suck if I pay more money its for something more lol I dont understand why i will paid more if I choose that option for those alcool Brand and Theres look like theres no bartender lol
Thank you for the video! Trying to decide between Barcelo Maya Beach and Colonial. Looking for the kids activities and the night shows (entertainment) as well. Please help me decide :) Thanks!
They’re basically the same and have access to the same activities 👍🏻 the Colonial is closer to the Maya mall, but the beach is better at Maya Beach 🤷🏼♀️ the rooms are a bit newer at the Maya Beach as well
I would say that RIU Palace Peninsula has a better beach, but is a smaller resort. The Barcelos have more amenities for small children with lots of splash pads - the the complex is huge, so there’s lots to do.
I just stayed here 2 weeks ago, this place is amazing! I would highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't been yet. The buffet food was great and the beach was awesome. Lots of excursions around the area to do as well.

Yes we stayed in that resort it’s beautiful and the beach is amazing
We loved this one! It was one of our faves out of the Barcelo complex! 👍🏻🙌🏻
This is the resort I’ll have been waiting for

Right! We did see it, but didn’t show it in the video 🤷🏼♀️
Hi from Canada I just booked this hotel for January 2024, thanks for the info!!!
Hello fellow Canadians! Thanks for watching!
Just booked. Going in 10 days!!! We couldn’t decide between this and the tropical one I hope we made the right decision
We liked the Beach better, so good choice 👍🏻 but you can visit the tropical as well 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I’m going there soon

I am between Colonial or Maya beach or Tropical, please give advice
What is it you’re looking for in your vacation? They’re all pretty comparable, but there are a couple of nuances that make them a bit different.
From my understanding, there is a waterpark on the grounds, can you confirm? I know you show the splash pad, but i thought there was a bit of a larger one too with slides?
There is a water park in the middle of the complex, but it’s not included in the price of the all-inclusive
@@WherewegoingNext Thank you so much!!
If you stay at the adult only can you visit all the hotels ??? And which one is the adult only ?? Thanks
Barcelo Maya Riviera is the only Adults-Only Barcelo - and yes, if you stay at that one, you can visit all the other Barcelos
Hello. What do you prefer. Barcelo tropical or Barcelo maya beach?
They’re very very similar- but the Beach rooms have been more recently refreshed. They both have access to the same facilities 👍🏻
Was sunscreen expensive at the gift shop? I have been to a few other resorts one where sunscreen was $25 and one where it was $50
We don’t remember exactly what it was at this resort, but yes anywhere from $30 to $50 USD for a bottle 😟 either way, very over priced!
I noticed a lot of little ones in/around the pools, you said you were there in June, was it early, mid or late June? Thank you.
We went June 10-19, 2022
Are there carts that take you around? as we are traveling with my mom who is not very mobile
There’s a bus that takes you between Barcelo resorts and to the Maya mall - but otherwise, there aren’t any carts to take you from your room or lobby to the beach 🤷🏼♀️ it’s not a very large resort to walk, but just keep that in mind.
Is there a shuttle to transport you between resorts? Are they able to carry a baby stroller?
Yes there’s a bus that takes you around… I think you should be ok with a small foldable stroller 🤔
Do you have to make reservations at the restaurants?
Yes, you can do that at check in 👍🏻
Hello! Trying to decide between this resort and Bahia Principe for 10 and 12 year olds. What would be your opinion? Love your videos. Thanks so much!

@@WherewegoingNext So do you bring a stack of one dollar notes with you before traveling or do you get them in Mexico?
Definitely before you go! We’ve never wanted to worry about having to find a place to exchange money in Mexico.
For the resorts that are connected to the mall, is anything in the mall included price wise, such as restraunts and entertainment?
Yes, the restaurants and sports bar are included 👍🏻
Drink/eat as much as you want at any of the bars/restaurants on the resort. The place is awesome I just got back a week ago!

I think the best snorkelling spot is over by Barcelo Maya Palace 👍🏻
How can you find out what’s included food drink, kayak, snorkeling
Here’s a link to their website: www.barcelo.com/en-us/barcelo-maya-beach/all-inclusive/all-inclusive/

So it's more than one kiddo pool? Or just the one?
They have the one large one, plus u can use all the other pools at the other Barcelo hotels, besides the Palace and Riviera
This is great! I am going there next week. What resorts are the best for activities and dining? Best restaurants or buffets?
We enjoyed the Beach and Caribe buffets and the Maya Mall has great activities and restaurants 👍🏻
How did u arrive from the airport to the hotel?
We booked a vacation package that included our transfers. You can also google “Cancun airport transfers”. We’ve used Canada Tranafers in the past and they’ve been great 👍🏻
Hows security in the area as people can go from one resort to the next.
Security is great - the Barcelos are in a gated complex. Yes, you can walk from one to another 👍🏻
Did they have any entertainment by the pool, like games or water yoga?
Yes, they will have pool games and usually some water aerobics 👍🏻
Thank you for your tour. What activities are available? Did you go on any excursions or just hang at the resort?

You can only book once you're on the resort.

They are all located on the beach 👍🏻

What is the season for no seaweed?
I don’t think that exists anymore. Global warming changed the ocean and now there is seaweed all year, but more or less depending on the tide.
