I didn't give the Elders the satisfaction of announcing my name from the platform. I didn't answer the Elder's calls or text messages. I didn't answer the door when they came knocking. I returned their certified letters unopened. I took away their fake power.
I’m so lucky my little brother woke up before me. He was able to fade super super slowly which helped me fade quicker than him. He helped me block everyone and keep myself safe from others. I was able to move out but unfortunately my parents caught me in my lie so I don’t have a relationship with them anymore but my brother still does. She is right you have to fade gradually and pretend to still “act” complicit around your family (if they’re heavily involved)
I've been asked why I didn't just write a letter of disassociation. The main reason was not to play into their games and satisfy their fake power. Another reason was to let all my J-Dub family and friends _choose_ if they wanted to continue talking to me or not. I didn't want to make that decision for them by allowing myself to be disfellowshipped. Needless to say, 100% of my so-called family and friends immediately shunned me and cut me out of their lives. Fast-forward six years later... nothing has changed. I'm dead to all of these hypocrites.

_If_ you are planning to fade from the Jehovah's Witnesses, the importance of keeping it to yourself is that whoever you talk to, will tell on you. Whether it's your mother, father, children, wife, husband, cousin, best friend, etc., they *_will_* contact the Elders and tell on you. They are trained to do so under the pretense that if they love you, they must turn you in. Plus, if they don't, they are sharing your sins and will risk their passage through the Great Tribulation.
Yes, yes, yes! This cannot be overstated. And besides just wanting to avoid getting "in trouble", you need time to process everything for yourself. Your entire world is about to be rocked. You need to unpack and figure things out without interference.

They are "supposed" to, but Im not sure I believe they do. I've heard elders, and CO's talk about how "unbreakable" the dedication vow is. It might be like the Hotel California...you can check out anytime you'd like, but you can NEVER leave 🤣It's like the telemarketing do not call list...not sure that is real either 🤣
