Hi, I received a travel incident report and am waiting for a letter with further instructions.
I am new to the UK from Australia and have a Student ID Card. I was under the belief that this is the same as a railcard.
I bought a ticket through the app and selected 26-30 railcard. My ticket was checked and I was asked for a railcard, and said I don't have one, but have a student ID. I explained that I am new to living in the UK and showed my Aus ID as well as my UK drivers licence when asked for my details. I apologised and said it was an honest mistake. The lady informed me that I have been giving a travel incident report and will receive a letter in a few weeks with instructions. Will I be prosecuted or can I pay a fine?
In case of hearing that, make sure to buy ticket carefully on the trainline app. If suddenly happened to me, I would prefer paying it than going to court and leave the record. Because I don’t want further trouble happening to me again. If there’s an option to answer, I would prefer paying it for discharge the case.

Hi, I have a question about rail card expiring and what might happen. My railcard expired about 2 months prior but didn’t realise, will older fares be included and back dated or just the one time?
Hi this happened to me aswell I got a letter today where i had to send my details through, did you receive a fine for the one ticket or did they look at older tickets?

What annoyed me was my gf bought 2 tickets on her phone she had a railcard but didn’t know she couldn’t do that, I had a valid metro ticket which covers the e area of travel I appealed when it was just a TIR didn’t hear anything back and got an FPN 13 days after the letter was issued so had to pay it 🙁and also said I had attempted to avoid the fare😂
