Hi ! I am French and I loved this video. You nailed it , my evening go to is a cat eye and red lips. I am also so much into skincare... I think that many French commenters did not get that this was an evening look, obviously heavier than the day one. Greetings
MrJovitageorge you highlighted in the tutorial but not in the title that this is TH-cam American makeup which is not what you will see on most faces. In fact, you'll see more women going for the French deal these days. I thought it was really interesting that the French products weren't cruelty free. Thanks for interesting content that isn't the same old!
TheBaumcm I disagree lol. Maybe just where you live? I'm American and I have friends and family all over the country... we don't wear "light" makeup like French people tend to do. It's actually really rare for me to meet someone who doesn't like wearing tons of makeup lol. Makeup is so fun 🙂
I definitely did not get that it's an evening look. lol That helps, I am American though and would never wear the american style personally. For one thing I am too pale. lol I mostly see my latina friends using such make up in daytime. I have many times done very similar to the french style shown here. For daytime if I even wear make up it's typically skincare routine with some light brow work and brown mascara. PERHAPS very light neutral eyeshadow.
She obviously HAS to generalize, since she's doing makeup looks that represent an ENTIRE country. So many people are like "UM, FRENCH WOMEN DON'T WEAR THAT MUCH MAKEUP." or "I'm French and I never wear foundation." STFU, she addressed that.
@Rosida Andriyana you don't need to be rude about it... Also she was correct in her spelling. Here is a link to the Merriam Webster dictionary if you don't believe me. www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/generalize
I think what people need to remember when commenting on here is that she is doing popular makeup trends that makeup lovers from both countries like not what the "average" woman necessarily would wear.
You nailed it. She does her makeup based on what’s very common or stands out in certain countries. Like Russian makeup is very bold, dramatic lashes and doll like. That’s not to say that every Russian woman wares their makeup like that. It’s just what’s iconic in Russia. I think it’s cool she showcases different makeup trends in different countries
Oooh, try a type of african (Nigerian maybe) make-up versus something else - it's so much brighter and louder and artsy than what most other places are doing.
WakeupGrandOwl yes that true i am nigerian and our makeup is bright and colourful it will be awesome if she does that. I love her she has such a fun personality like i can watch her all day on fact I do
MrJovitageorge Try searching for Nigerian makeup artists. I once came across one, & they had such beautiful beaded jewelry & huge poofy headgear with folds.
Honestly, I'm American, and my makeup looks similar to this on a day to day basis when I go to work or go out at night. The "Kylie Jenner look" is what's in right now. You hit the nail right on the head. Good job ☺️
Nicole Perez Im just a curious and innocent woman, with that kind of makeup everyday, how can you not feel uncomfortable? I mean I touch my eyes or my face pretty often in a day. I don't know it's impossible for me to bear that much makeup during an entire day >
Kelly Mengue I'm just super into makeup, and I've found a lot of different brands and formulas that allow me to not feel like I have "cake face." It's not for everyone, and I don't think everyone should wear it. It's just something I love to do and use to express myself. I've also just learned to not touch my face because hands are dirty and cause breakouts.
I'm french and here's my makeup routine (I don't represent every french woman at all! but I don't think it's much different from what the majority of french women do) : on the night, when I am not lazy I clean my skin with an Avène lotion and put Eau Jeune's micellar water. For my daily makeup routine to go to school/work, if I have time I put Nivéa's moisturizer with three drops of a L'Oréal face oil. I never wear foundation because it's too heavy and a lot of people in France think that it's "too much". I put a VERY little bit of concealer (from Sephora) under the eye and blend it with a brush or my fingers, then I apply a little bit of powder (not too much) from Rimmel to set the concealer under the eyes, and on my nose and what is left on the brush on the forehead and chin. Then a little bit of bronzer (from The Balm) in the cheeks, and of course blush! I don't wear highlighter I feel like it's too much and people point it out when I do. Then I put mascara on (I almost never see false lashes in France, I have seen girls with false lashes in France only like one or two times max and I'm not sure if they wear actual french or tourists) from Maybelline or L'Oréal and I only put some brow gel to my eyebrows. For the lips I either put nude or sometimes darker/red lipstick, or just vaseline to moisturize them and I'm ready to go! If I want an heavier look I put eyeliner on (not too strong!), black pencil on my water line or a transition shade in my crease (yeah in France that's considered an heavier makeup look ;) ). But to go to school/work, if I don't have enough time in the morning I don't mind going out with just brow gel and either a creamy lipstick or just vaseline. On the weekend I often don't wear makeup so I only put vaseline on my lips to moisturize them and sometimes I also put a little bit of vaseline on my brows to set them. When I go out at night that's the time when I can dare putting more makeup on like eyeshadows or bolder lips. But there's a very common rule in France : it's either bold lips or bold eyes, never both! And a lot of the time it's nude lips and nude eyes! Hope it was interesting :) Love to see culture's differences, if american or other countries's people want to share their routine under this comment I'd lovee to learn! Bisous ;)
MademoiselleEmmaEmma How fascinating, just out of curiosity would you say it's considered improper or looked down on socially to wear a lot of makeup? Or is the natural look simply just a preferred?
That but also i think in France when you put makeup like foundation, countouring, etc... a lot of people consider it's because you don't accept yourself, and don't have self-confidence in your own beauty. Of course the Kardashian trend in instagram, make that more french girls do the "american makeup" but for most of the girl i know, it's al about mascara, concealer and powder (if they wear makeup), but yeah it's very interesting how our culture can change makeup habits ;)
MademoiselleEmmaEmma I would love to know what real French women/men think of the Kardashians. For example..their style of dress and makeup. We won't even get into their lifestyle. Most people love them or hate them. But there's no denying they are fashion forward and beautiful. Any thoughts, ladies?
In france people think that beauty is made for model, stars, adults, beautiful women. I love makeup, and strangers look at me like i have something disgusting on my face (maybe i do it wrong who knows😂) but yes in France we like it fresh, nude but crazy, with a lot of bright colors ! The rouge is not that much use anymore but i love it!
Thank you for watching my love. I was explaining after each step that " French women don't always wear rouge, French women don't always wear eyeshadow" but that made the video too long, so I just kept that information in the beginning. So, I've clarified in the description that French women usually never wear makeup. Sometimes parties, they wear the makeup I've worn in this video. I loved reading your comment! Thank you :)
Is it just me, or did both sides wind up looking about equally 'done' - but the American side took twice as long and involved 3x as many products as the French??
That's because the Americans use too much make-up. If you look at it, just for the base (skin ton/hiding imperfections), the Americans go all extreme on it and put on several layers to be sure nobody can see their skins. But the french side shows how it isn't necessary. Just taking good care of your skin and using foundation can be enough most of the time. Most french women I know only do these steps: clean face daily (at least twice a day) + "let it breath" (absolutely no product on it), hydrate it, put on some light foundation the colour of your skin (going for a darker/tanner shade only makes you look ridiculous to them since it's obvious that it isn't your natural skin tone), use eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick/gloss if you want to. Also there's a pretty known rule in France: you put make-up on your eyes OR your lips, not both. For example, if you put a strong red on your lips, you'll only use mascara/eyeliner for your eyes. If you work on your eyes, using eyeshadow and such, you'll leave your lips nude or use a non-flashy nude-looking lipstick. The idea is that you want people to look at a particular part of your face that you like, that you have highlighted, so you put on this part make-up, and the other part you leave it pretty simple so people will only focus on what you want them to focus on. This rule is universal, but most Americans tend to ignore it.
Yes, popular American makeup (not popular by the masses, popular by TH-cam and Instagram) generally uses a LOT of products and takes FOREVER. Average makeup here is not all like that. :)
Bubbling Waffle.. I think it's more about preference than "too much makeup". There are plenty of Americans who prefer to just wear a little concealer and blush, just as i'm sure there are plenty of French people that prefer more dramatic makeup. As for the bit you said about focusing on one part of your face that you like the best, why shouldn't you want to show your eyes and your lips equally? A dramatic eye can look incomplete without a dramatic lip to match. Most of the people I know that wear makeup regularly only do t to accentuate the features they already have, though -- just filling in their brows and some concealer to cover up any blemishes. But I know if I'm going somewhere nice I like to look a little more done up, so I'll lean towards a more dramatic look. It all depends on the situation and what you personally prefer.
This is the first video I've seen of yours and I loved it! I'm from Los Angeles, California and I think the American side was pretty accurate. Highlighting, bold brows, and nude/brown lipstick tones is exactly the look we go for. I personally don't wear that much makeup, but it is definitely a popular look here. Ignore the rude comments by others, I think you did amazing! I am now SUBSCRIBED!
For me, I can say that all the Frech ones that I know don't wear bb cream but almost all wear nothing or powder. That was so much bb cream in the video!
Hi I am American, and will tell you, the Frenchies spend a lot of money and time on skin care .. they consider it the building block .. if you have shit skin, make up makes it worse looking .. they go to facials at least every 60 days , or give them selfs one .. self love gf !
I just read a comment bellow that said "To me they look almost identical, just slightly different colours..." and my thoughts on that were: - You can see how you can achive something flawless and equally beautiful without that huge amount of products and time as they do in America. To me, the French makeup looks so perfect and it takes less time and less products. You realy don't need to highlight and contour the face so agresively, or go nuts on the eyebrows, or wear fake lashes when your natural ones are just as pretty... In conclusion, French makeup looks natural and as every bit as beautiful as the American one, and it doesn't cover the face in things that you don't need
I agree! I also think the French side is more flattering on her, but most American mua use way too much product. I even use more now than I did a few months ago, just on a daily basis. Plus, that heavy concealer? They use like half a bottle every day! The skin can't breathe like that.
Actually as a French-American girl this is pretty spot on! I'm surprised by the amount of research that went into this, i expected just a typical makeup tutorial. And a lot of people don't seem to get that this an evening look not an everyday thing. PS: Cruelty-free makeup isn't really a thing in France, it isn't really a known thing here.
I can only speak for the American side, but I think it's very accurate for what is usually the most depicted makeup choices of woman with high profile lives.. I also know plenty of woman, myself included, who do our makeup very similarly to the way you did, give or take a few steps. As TH-cam as your source of research I say your American side is spot on!
This is such a cool series and I love your approach to this! You were so thoughtful and actually used products from each country. You are absolutely beautiful, the finished product was amazing ❤️
I guess I'm part of the stereotype! I'm the only french I know who wears red lipstick everyday. My friends usually wear no makeup, or just some concealer, mascara and blush. When girls wear more makeup, it's very common we actually get makeup shamed. Whenever I visit another country, it always seems so different to me cause nearly everyone wears a lot of makeup, unlike here in France !
Women speaking French........you're making my heart beat a little fast. lol There's actually a growing number of men here in the USA who think makeup can hide any amount of "ugly"
Its very similar in the UK, plastered on heavy make up is seen as 'uncooth' and even (god forbid) chavy (although it's a different game at night time) It's all part of the awful class system that dominates almost every part of british culture.
I feel that way about the american look except I am way more likely to wear the french look! lol I don't know many women who wear lots of make up here...as teenagers perhaps, some young women or really old ladies. lol I guess LA might be different but in SD there are so many subcultures that wear make up differently. When I think of American make up overall I think of a barely-there look though maybe I'm behind the times. I know latina's wear a day look very much like the american one in this..and maybe even "goth"s. Then there's emo and scene and the girly girls............glamour....I personally focus on skin care, and some brown mascara and light eyebrow work since my naturally blonde hair can make me look like a chemo patient. :/
You mean transgender? lol Not trying to be mean but they wear the most make up I have ever seen. I know of a ton of men in America that judge you harshly if you wear heavy/noticeable make up, and there's been a big movement for men getting angry finding out how much make up can hide...yet I do know the typical "hot" woman in advertising etc has lots of make up so it's a double standard for sure. I actually feel I get treated better if I don't wear make up, even though I feel ugly/"meh". I thought in the USA the "average" look was to USE make up to look natural (which is ironic) with perhaps a little eyeliner. At least where I live if you're wearing as much make up as in this vid. you're probably part of a subculture like latina's are, or "emo"/scene, goth...etc.
Animal testing has been illegal for all cosmetics sold in the EU since 2013 (even if they are manufactured elsewhere) so they probably don't say "Cruelty free" just because it is assumed for all products in France/the rest of europe.
I don't get why so many French people in the comments seem to be offended. I'm from Belgium, right above France (half of my country speaks French) and my mom, who went to beauty school and worked for a lot of French makeup brands actually wears her makeup the way you did. She's not big on heavy foundation, primers, dark lipstick and especially eyeshadows with a red undertone. So you really nailed this comparison. My mom is religiously into moisturising and cleansing her face. In my opinion, this was great! ^^
Thank you so much for the support love. I guess some of the French women watching the video were comparing this video to their own everyday natural makeup. :)
MrJovitageorge It's the point isn't it? you say "French women prefer this... or that etc", so we compare with our own routine and the one of our friends lol.
I am American and am appreciative this video was made but am complaining because I don't understand! lol I rarely see people here wear that kind of make up (american) even at night. Mostly the latina culture and I know in LA that might be more of a thing. In San Diego there is so much diversity in the way people wear make up I don't see how it could be put into one look without mentioning subcultures. I wear the "french" style here very often and have since 15. I never was aware it was french lol Though America is a melting pot ..which is why I don't see how we can have a "look" ..but if we did I'd think of a barely-there look.
In Europe it is illegal to test cosmetics on animals- the French products may not need to state this because of the legal setup here. However, they may not be as strict as some other criteria's such as the leaping bunny one.
Lola Arcana It is illegal to test in the EU but not in other countries. The biggest brand in Europe is the French brand L'Oréal and they own everything from Lancome to LA Roche Posay to the body shop etc... It is an international brand so they can do their testing where they want and then sell the final products in Europe. This law is just a big scam in this international world!
In fact the products sold in EU are not tested on animals HOWEVER the ingredients (specially those which are not first made for makeup) can be. And this is precisely why products sold in EU are not totally cruelty free, only the finished product isn't tested. The Leaping Bunny, the Peta bunny and the One Voice label however are way stricter than EU laws. So as long as a product doesn't wear one of the cruelty free labels, you can't consider it is. The EU law is tricky, brands (and their comunication and laboratories) are using it at their advantage. And as said above, they still test in other countries (L'Oréal being the "perfect" example). Btw sorry for my broken English, it is not my mother tongue.
Alexia Gautier MAC NARS L'Oreal and all its franchises test on animals and they are sold everywhere in France so again this EU law would be great only if brands were not international or if all continents agreed on that law. Maybe one day...
The people being rude in the comments need to chill... Of course not every french or american does their makeup this way. The video is meant as a comparison. Even in my close friend group, each of us does their make up differently : I never contour or draw my eyebrows because i think it looks silly on me. But oomf always wears "heavy" make up. Another friend never wears eyeliner because of the shape on her eyes. The last one never wears red lipstick because she thinks it doesn't look right. To each their own :)
I guess America is known for lots of make up but just wanna say I am american and was not aware of this. lol If anything I would have said we like a natural look...but that's just because I don't see many people with tons of make up unless they are part of a "loud" subculture
As a french woman I have to say I am pretty impressed by how accurate your french makeup was ! We love to keep it simple... not big fans of full face makeup and sometimes over judgmental about it on some people on the street even if this is completely stupid (everyone has the right to make up as they want). Anyway, very great video loved it ! Still preferring our french make up than the american one sorry westerns
It would also be interesting to do a side-by-side comparison of makeup styles from the same country, but different decades. For example, makeup now vs. makeup in the 80's.
You nailed the American side. Especially with the whole highlighting, contouring and brows. Apparently it's all about the highlight and how it's not on fleek unless you're glowing 😂😂😂😂. I honestly prefer the French side.
Repuglibe SandersVonRubio I'm not a hater. I'm French and most women in France wear barely any makeup. Maybe some eyeliner, mascara, lipstick or/and BB cream but that's all. A lot of French women don't even wear makeup.
I'm Canadian (so basically, American :P ) and live in France - this video was super accurate :P It's actually difficult to find false eyelashes in most cities in France, so totally accurate to go without :D
Your eyes are captivating, and i'm not talking about the color etc, i'm talking about the shape. They are perfect, I wish I had eyes like that. Kisses from France
In France this would be our "party" makeup, our overall day makeup is pretty nude, maybe with just a little bit of eye liner or just the red lips but rarely both at the same time (except for party or bold makeup for a date night). but the makeup you've done is pretty :)
I'm an American expat in France and this was fun to watch and relatable as my beauty supplies went from bulks of makeup to predominantly facial care products like toners and creams. I also really like your style. You're funny and approachable and clearly very interested in make up as culture as well as aesthetic. The most enjoyable beauty blogging I've seen yet.
neko2798 I'm obviously not her, but when you're applying facial creams/bb or cc creams with your fingers, apply them in an upward motion starting at your chin and working your way up. :)
I'd just like to add something. You mention a few times that the make up doesn't have a cruelty-free label on the french side. It is true because there is law that prohibit any cosmetic test on animals in France since 2009.
You did a great job for the french side except maybe for the foundation, Vichy foundation is well known for being very heavy and full coverage that's why it's not very popular. I think most of french women tend to wear the american brand or high end french brand :D The red lipstick is maybe cliché but definitely a classic :)
I'd like to see Mexican vs. American makeup (or any other country vs. mexican makeup) I know they are very similar but I'd like to see the subtle differences, I'm mexican and I almost never do my makeup, I only do my brows which are full and thick, mascara and if I have any blemishes I cover them up, and that's it. Before anyone else comments, I know Mexico is and extremely diverse country, and we have a lot of influence from the US, but I'd like to see the comparison between each makeup look :))
....and huge differences in the looks between social classes. But, for the woman on t.v. I'd say that in Mexico the women wear strong eyes and a strong lip. The overall effect is alot of makeup. But the everyday woman I think sticks to liner, mascara and sometimes something on the lips if she's going out. But like you said, it varies across the country for sure.
I thought this look was very mexican, but that's because I have seen many american latinas wear the style of make up shown in the video. Some teens of varying cultural backgrounds do too but not many and definitely rare to see in adults at all especially if not latina.
I am from SD and rarely do make up either btw. But that's because it's time-consuming and many days it'll just sweat-off anyhow! :p Usually just do eyebrows and brown mascara because my pale ass lashes and brows look invisible otherwise! haha
And I am glad to hear it varies in Mexico!! It sounds very sad in France to have one typical look...I don't feel this video justifies "american" make up because there are SO many different daily looks. I am thinking of making my own video but I am not as brave as these youtubers lol :p Maybe you can make one for different looks in Mexico?! Not just one look but the 5 or so main ones...?
This video made my day! It was so neat to see how you covered two different styles and talk about the preferences of each culture (be they internet based or not). Plus, you are so adorable!!!
Thumbs up! You'd look gorgeous no matter what, but I 100% prefer the "French" look! As an American, I think your take on American style "Instagram" type makeup is pretty accurate (though a few of those products are from very uncommon brands in the US, though they may be gaining some youtube exposure). I'm SO GLAD that that looks isn't worn by all American women (I don't think it suits everyone)!!! Not may favorite at all, and if someone does it poorly it goes off the rails fast. And I absolutely laughed at your Tarte shape tape comment; that stuff IS ubiquitous! (I'm not a color pop fan at all, though they are fairly popular; their texture bothers me, and they don't wear well on my skin.)
ETA, I mean that it's accurate to looks that go for that "Instagram" look, which is a minority of "Actual" American women. There's a lot of variety in how American women wear their makeup in real life (which I know you know as you referenced your look as 'Instagram' type). Most American women have more sense, and better makeup skills. Instagram is a sort of stage and I consider Instagram makeup a variety of stage makeup. Super fun in it's place, but out of place in the everyday.
Lol wearing more makeup doesn't mean you're stupid. During the weekdays I tutor chemistry at a college and love calculus, engineering, and physics, but when I go out on a date with my boyfriend, you better believe I'm going all out, which involves TH-cam videos of makeup tutorials.
Very good video ! You're really talented and beautiful haha :) But like many comments here from French people (I'm French too), we don't wear that much makeup... Indeed, we're more into the "natural" beauty, and ok maybe the little fantasy is the red lipstick ! But from what I guessed, you're not French, maybe you never been to France so maybe you don't know and that's so okay??? I mean I see a lot of French girls being pissed in the comments; but c'mon girls, she didn't do anything wrong. I see some French girls like this in college, or when I used to be in high school. I'm sure she did her research for this video, and that's very good. You go girl. Maybe try a little less makeup next time (especially for the eyes!) but I enjoyed watching your video. :)) love ! (Sorry for all my grammar mistakes:( )
Loved the way you made this video fun laid-back and informative. Also I really appreciate The subtitles for understanding what is being said and the product names that I am unfamiliar with it thank you so much value for the first time today and you are now my all-time favorite!
Ohh, I love both the sides! You are so good! I am from Bulgaria and I want to see a Bulgarian\Balkan kind of makeup VS sth if you understand me :D :D :D So can you pleace do sth like that? Thank you! :* :*
I love this!! I think you totally got what American/youtuber overdo it. I hate the concealer brightening thing so much, it's just out of control here in the US.
I am American and, honestly, the average American woman doesn't wear a lot of makeup, if any at all. At least not in New York. The beauty trends you speak of are prominent on Instagram and You Tube, not in real life. I wear the type of makeup you speak of in my You Tube videos and people stare at me when I go out during the day like that. LOL.
Right, I am from NYC and women do not wear that much makeup for a night out. But now that I live on the west coast I see more heavier makeup during the day and night. Hispanics mostly although Blacks wear very heavy false eyelashes during the day and heavy thick brows like Hispanics. But it all depends what part of town. I think people wear a lot more makeup on social media for selfies etc., like they are preparing for a photo shoot or something.
Totally agree with you. I'm French and I live in NY and none of hers representations are reals. None of my friends here or in France wear makeup. Like you said, this is just IG, definitely not the real life.
LonDen Makeup Artistry I don't think she was going for everyday looks. she never claimed to have gone for that look. and sure not everyone wears this much for an occasion or going out for a night. she highlighted the trends from these areas. that's all.
As we're so used to watch American You tubers and we learn almost from them , I'm pretty confused now whether to wear the highlighting concealer all over the face or not ? .. what's the correct way to wear the concealer ?
nadia mohsin You should look up Lisa Eldridge she is a REAL long time successful makeup artist and she makes beauty videos where she explains in detail everything. She does natural to editorial look. You'll get all your answers plus she is super nice!
Lisa Eldridge is lovely, super talented and has a gorgeous less is more attitude which is a great different voice on youtube. I also really recommend watching the sephora tutorials about contouring (and highlighting with concealer) for different face shapes. Contouring exploded on youtube and most (Western) youtubers all started doing it the same way but it's not a one size fits all kind of deal. The sephora pro staff are also really sweet and have a bit of a softer approach to makeup as well :)
This is a lot of fun! The American overlining lips is pretty outrageous! lol I'm so over the highlighter. Although American, I like the French side so much more. Thanks for doing this video, I love it!
Hi, I am french and like other girls were saying in coments , we are unfortunately very judgemental and if we wear american style make up , everybody iwill look at you and think who does she think she is? She thinks she's a star? Or they gonna think if we are a prostitute or an escort or whatever.. Maybe not in nightclub but the during the day yes .. Sad, i know but it's just like it is . Anyway, i really really like american style make up but not time to do it as too much product used so i used to make up like this: 1 fondation , 1 concealer, 1 blush , 2 eye shadow maximum or 1 black pen liner, mascara ,1 nice gloss and thats it !! Hihi I like you video and the way your talking to us you re funny, i am suscribing now !!!
I love the research and application techniques you used. I've watched a lot of makeup tutorials from different cultures to find what suits my dark American skin. You've nailed the these looks. Now, I'm a new subscriber!
Erika Moreno I don’t think it’s a very uncommon idea she probably just also thought it would be cool to do, also other youtubers have done this sort of video too
I was browsing through when youtube sent your video my way. I actually came by to tell you that you're looking frickin RAVISHING! God I've never seen an Indian youtuber look this beautiful, no offense to anyone they're all beautiful in their own way. But you Jovita stole my heart. Lots of love and if I was a boy, some lust, LOL xoxo
Hi ! I am French and I loved this video. You nailed it , my evening go to is a cat eye and red lips. I am also so much into skincare... I think that many French commenters did not get that this was an evening look, obviously heavier than the day one. Greetings
Anne Rateau thank you ❤️❤️❤️
MrJovitageorge you highlighted in the tutorial but not in the title that this is TH-cam American makeup which is not what you will see on most faces.
TheBaumcm *especially for nighttime glam!
WakeupGrandOwl yes that would be cool!!
WakeupGrandOwl yes that true i am nigerian and our makeup is bright and colourful it will be awesome if she does that. I love her she has such a fun personality like i can watch her all day on fact I do
vintageinidierocker Nigerian is definitely on my list! Need to do my research. Give me all your tips ladies! How do you like to do you makeup?
That's a super cool thought! Can't wait!
Good job ☺️
Oh just don't forget to bring the foundation down your neck. That's definitely a common thing here
Nicole Perez oh yes the foundation would have to come down the neck.. I messed up there. Thanks for watching and commenting love!
It's not hard when you wear this makeup everyday to know you can not rub your eyes, etc. lol
She doesn't even need makeup, she has such natural beauty.
Of course! Nobody needs makeup. Like we are consuming air water and food to survive . She wears makeup bcoz she loves it.
@@shradhaagarwal7824 girl .... You are ..... I don't have words to describe disgust after Reading your comment
True..!!
@@donaldtrump7685 Why is that disgusting?
Edit: Nevermind, I just read your username.
@Rosida Andriyana ..okay? How is that relevant, lmao?
Either bold eyes or bold lips in France, I think it's very true! Your English is very good by the way, bises
annabelle7123 merci hahaha!♡
In france people think that beauty is made for model, stars, adults, beautiful women. I love makeup, and strangers look at me like i have something disgusting on my face (maybe i do it wrong who knows😂) but yes in France we like it fresh, nude but crazy, with a lot of bright colors ! The rouge is not that much use anymore but i love it!
But i think a lot of us used to do their makeup with the americain style... beauty blender, prime, eavy foundation, full coverage, master brows etc...
I thought the same thing! :P
americans are over using everything ;)
As a french girl (not really into make up) I can say you're rocking the french part !!
(and you're really pretty)
I want to see Italian vs Indian! :D and i love both tea and coffee, hope you're doing well
Georgia Hewitt I second the Italian vs Indian 😊
this sounds good!
Georgia Hewitt That sounds cool!
Georgia Hewitt ,,, please go and check my lifestyle blog,,,thelifestylecodes.com
Mini S your website is super cool, thanks :D
I'm not even a makeup person, but this was very entertaining. :D Very cool to see the results!
Love this! Can you pleaseeee do Indian vs western brides next!
Absolutely!
Yeah you should totally do this. There's a stark difference between the two.
Giuliana Y I need this video like oxygen. I only discovered this channel and I'm already in love omg I need mooooore😂😂
YES!! Great suggestion!! I would also love to see a Western vs Eastern bride look :)
Giuliana Y it should be a specific country not just western
I've been loving this series! Your comparisons are on point!!
I am now SUBSCRIBED!
agreed!
i love how you respond to many of the comments! i'm sure it brightens many people's moods :)
These comments brighten my day too :)
Please please do Russian vs American or Slavic vs American!!!
Amadea Ramirez Yes that would be so cool.
Yes!
Yass girl
!!!! Yes
Russian I think would be very interesting!
Loving the French side. Love how they don't use so much product. Might start using my BB cream more often
Both Sides Looking Gorgeous ❤
I like the fluffy full brow of the french makeup!
I just read a comment bellow that said "To me they look almost identical, just slightly different colours..." and my thoughts on that were:
- You can see how you can achive something flawless and equally beautiful without that huge amount of products and time as they do in America.
I agree. I'm American and all I ever see is highlight and light undereyes and that doesn't look good on everyone.
Really interesting :) but really in France most woman don't wear much make up. A little bit of mascara or very light bb cream is usually the routine
Yes ofcourse, I have noticed that is the norm for daily makeup :) This was a comparison of night time / glam makeup for both the cultures :)
DarkStrawbee totally accurate for full glam! American girls usually have more simple daily routines and glam like this!
DarkStrawbee Thats exactly what she said.
Love France ❤❤
DarkStrawbee c'est entrain de changer beaucoup s'inspire des américaine et font des vrai makeup maintenant
Yes but we don't even use this kind of product in france lol every girls go to sephora or buy drugstore makeup like gemey maybelline.
Rebecca Smith I see. Well that's great that you have good makeup at Sephora and the drugstore 😁
Naoline ça doit être un peu différent! Mais bienvenue dans le club des fidèles au rouge ;)
Women speaking French........you're making my heart beat a little fast. lol
There's actually a growing number of men here in the USA who think makeup can hide any amount of "ugly"
Because most french people like to find a reason to complain 😂
Lydia Botros Amen to that. I don't get worked up by French people creating drama out of nothing. I think it's hilarious.
Gosh you are so so so so so beautiful! And seem so sweet! ♡ Had to subscribe! ♡ God bless!
Thank you :D Welcome to my channel :*
MrJovitageorge Omfgggagagzhsjsjsjs You're replying to meee xD
Omggg thank you!!!!!!! ♡
Lottie Lameko Agreed! Beautiful woman, seems really down to earth, and has great makeup skills!
Your accent and mannerisms are so cute and uplifting. Subscribed
This is my first time watching your channel and I am already loving it 😄
In Europe it is illegal to test cosmetics on animals- the French products may not need to state this because of the legal setup here.
I could be wrong but isn't MAC an American brand, I'm pretty sure they test on animals don't they?
Yes MAC tests on animals. :)
Alexia Gautier MAC NARS
L'Oreal and all its franchises test on animals and they are sold everywhere in France so again this EU law would be great only if brands were not international or if all continents agreed on that law.
I like the french side🇫🇷
this girl is very nice , lively and pretty,,,so girl keep going on with the videos !
You NAILED the American side! This is super recent but on insta, for americans, huda beauty lip toppers are a MAJOR trend
What about French v Korean? They both enjoy quite natural make up looks!
French has even lesser makeup than korean makeup although the result is a natural look.
I guess America is known for lots of make up but just wanna say I am american and was not aware of this. lol If anything I would have said we like a natural look...but that's just because I don't see many people with tons of make up unless they are part of a "loud" subculture
I'm very surprised, but I think I actually like the French the best!
I'm french and the french make up is exactly mine so good job ! Bisous. Love.
No worries 😊. I'm American but hate all of the layers. I prefer eye makeup with nothing on the face (sometimes lipstick).
It would also be interesting to do a side-by-side comparison of makeup styles from the same country, but different decades. For example, makeup now vs. makeup in the 80's.
I love this idea!
i'm french and I think you wear too much make up for the french part
surtout au niveau du teint
je suis une fille ahah
Just Lucas.
Oui c vraie.
The French look is supposed to be a lot more natural.
Yup. Elle a tellement de fond de teint 😱
We do not like to have too much makeup on the face, it is considered as vulgar. We prefer a fairly natural makeup (men too).
I'm a tea person, and also I have to say I am not educated on french makeup but I will say the American makeup is *spot onnn*
Far too much makeup on both sides. Too complicated. Too heavy. French women do not look like this and the Americans I know do not either.
Carton vert we disagree
That was amazing! You are beautiful and you know how to put on makeup!!
You're not just gorgeous, you also have a great sense of humour! Your comparison videos are quite fascinating.
i am french and there's is not a lot of women who really wear red lipstick and all other stuff that's just what people says it's not true
Pisan Yaelle Grave c'est un peu un "préjugé" mais ça permet de faire une différence entre les 2 côtés un peu plus marqués, je pense.
You nailed the American side. Especially with the whole highlighting, contouring and brows. Apparently it's all about the highlight and how it's not on fleek unless you're glowing 😂😂😂😂. I honestly prefer the French side.
LOVE the highlighter up to your nose idea - so trying! Your dress is beautiful too.
I've never seen French women wear so much makeup
Jean-Baptiste Grenouille moi non plus...
Me too
True dat xD
HATERS
typical ......
Repuglibe SandersVonRubio I'm not a hater. I'm French and most women in France wear barely any makeup. Maybe some eyeliner, mascara, lipstick or/and BB cream but that's all. A lot of French women don't even wear makeup.
I prefer the french makeup !
Could you to do a south indian makeup Vs north indian makeup ? :))
Such a huge fan of the French makeup you just did! By the way, both looks are amazing! Such talent
Omg..girl u look stunning... The best video and the best look ever...Ily😻😘
In France this would be our "party" makeup, our overall day makeup is pretty nude, maybe with just a little bit of eye liner or just the red lips but rarely both at the same time (except for party or bold makeup for a date night).
but the makeup you've done is pretty :)
I think Christen Dominique might have copied this videos
Sam Dav she is a star herself
Rosida Andriyana christen domimique
I'm an American expat in France and this was fun to watch and relatable as my beauty supplies went from bulks of makeup to predominantly facial care products like toners and creams. I also really like your style. You're funny and approachable and clearly very interested in make up as culture as well as aesthetic. The most enjoyable beauty blogging I've seen yet.
I like the french side more, tho the american looks kinda cool too, but the french is my favorite because there's not so much products on it.
can you pls do a video on how to prevent getting wrinkles when you're putting make up on?
and what sort of brands do you recommend?
neko2798 I'm obviously not her, but when you're applying facial creams/bb or cc creams with your fingers, apply them in an upward motion starting at your chin and working your way up. :)
omg her voice.. what an angel
I'd just like to add something. You mention a few times that the make up doesn't have a cruelty-free label on the french side. It is true because there is law that prohibit any cosmetic test on animals in France since 2009.
Honestly, I never see French women wearing this much makeup.
Wren Poldark I'm French, and I don't see the girls with not that much makeup too
YOU GUYS ARE OVER WATCHING THIS, the point was to look as natural, she probably didn't think her skin was even enough 😒
Wren Poldark you're such a dumbfuck, she already mentioned the fact that french women focus more on their natural features.
American girl here that is absolutely loving the French look! So excited to check out more of your videos.
Your accent is beautiful!
JessieJoe Monge really!! i like her videos but her accent is annoying !
🙏 her accent is so fake and 🤮
You did a great job for the french side except maybe for the foundation, Vichy foundation is well known for being very heavy and full coverage that's why it's not very popular. I think most of french women tend to wear the american brand or high end french brand :D The red lipstick is maybe cliché but definitely a classic :)
Love the way she talks and her accent. So lively and fun! Really translates her joie de vivre. subscribed.
Just found this video but I gotta say GIRLLLL you are so beautiful! I mean your makeup looks great but LORD WHAT A FACE
right? Before make and her bone structure is fantastic and her skin looks great.
American makeup is just on fleek di. 😍
Thanks boo!
What in the world is fleek di ???
Gabby Lane fleek means attractive :)
Love the French look!
You are really putting the ART in make-up artist. So talented and precise and wow! Great work!
Franchement je prefere le français lol
Ps : je suis Française ❤
La Oso Yes! Exactly, that's why I'd like to see the differences between the two, let's say, most common makeup looks
Definitely a "TH-cam" American face:)
I know very few people who actually wear that much makeup but it's fun to watch!
So spot-on and on-trend! These comparison videos are so informative and inspiring. XO from Chicago 🇺🇸
Patrick star???? I'm dying!!!!!!😂 I had to replay it to see if it was real 4:42
I love him! hahaha
I think you meant to say jefree star haha thats why it was funny :) Patrick star is a character from the cartoon sponge bob
Stephanie Da he jokingly goes by Patrick star on twitter
+brookyn lucas ohhhh I wouldn't know hahah I don't watch him
there is actually a youtuber (a guy makeup artist) who is quite famous and his name is patrick star !
Thank you! :* :*
Katerina Kostova Ohh yasss! I would like to see video like that too! It would be really interesting!!❤️❤️
Katerina Kostova ooh, if you don't mind me asking, what type of makeup is common in bulgaria? I have no idea
I don't know actually! Maybe in Google you can find some
information.
But the common brands are like GoldenRose, essence,
Maybelline, Catrice, Rimmel
A lot of Americans and French have dark eyes too! Lol
Jennifer Hughes Hernandez Yess
So entertaining - I love watching your honest take...I'm all smiles!
West Africa (Nigeria) Vs Europe (British) makeup?
french
I love this!! I think you totally got what American/youtuber overdo it. I hate the concealer brightening thing so much, it's just out of control here in the US.
I am American and, honestly, the average American woman doesn't wear a lot of makeup, if any at all. At least not in New York. The beauty trends you speak of are prominent on Instagram and You Tube, not in real life. I wear the type of makeup you speak of in my You Tube videos and people stare at me when I go out during the day like that. LOL.
She did say that is was more based off TH-cam.
LonDen Makeup Artistry she said it was a youtube glam based makeup. so clearly not an everyday or every person makeup.
LonDen Makeup Artistry I don't think she was going for everyday looks. she never claimed to have gone for that look. and sure not everyone wears this much for an occasion or going out for a night. she highlighted the trends from these areas. that's all.
As we're so used to watch American You tubers and we learn almost from them , I'm pretty confused now whether to wear the highlighting concealer all over the face or not ? .. what's the correct way to wear the concealer ?
nadia mohsin under the eye and the bring of the nose
nadia mohsin You should look up Lisa Eldridge she is a REAL long time successful makeup artist and she makes beauty videos where she explains in detail everything. She does natural to editorial look. You'll get all your answers plus she is super nice!
Sarah Baroom thank you so much , Sarah 🤗
thank you so much , Dianna !
Thanks for doing this video, I love it!
please make a video about brazilian makeup X American Makeup.
(if anyone agrees, please give this comment an up so that she can see it).
russian vs. nigerian would be amazing
Definitely can see the differences in makeup cultures here. I love both looks so much!
France 🇫🇷💪 le maquillage américain est magnifique
Clementine Pieltain C'est fou ! Les française préféré le maquillage américain à celui français mais les américaines ç'est le contraire 😂
what color of contact do you use? it is pretty
You are HILARIOUS. That was one of the best make up videos I have watched in a while!
Sorry about the ortograph but english is not my first language ;)
I love the research and application techniques you used. I've watched a lot of makeup tutorials from different cultures to find what suits my dark American skin. You've nailed the these looks. Now, I'm a new subscriber!
How do you feel about Christine Domenic basically copying this video and not giving credit and is now trending. Have you seen the video ?
Erika Moreno I don’t think it’s a very uncommon idea she probably just also thought it would be cool to do, also other youtubers have done this sort of video too
I was browsing through when youtube sent your video my way. I actually came by to tell you that you're looking frickin RAVISHING! God I've never seen an Indian youtuber look this beautiful, no offense to anyone they're all beautiful in their own way. But you Jovita stole my heart. Lots of love and if I was a boy, some lust, LOL xoxo
I loved watching this! Very fun, loved seeing all these different products!
