      If THIS version put you in tears, I don't know *what* would happen if you tried listening to Wanda Landowska's performance!

      thomase13 The version of different people playing won't make any difference to me! My initial imagination of the interpretation of the music is in my head. And what's in my head is just how Bach himself would play it, so in other words, any other performer who'd play it, it would simply be a disappointment for me if I were to pay attention to their ways of interpretation, so that being said, since nobody in the whole wide world can play it just like Bach did, it won't make me cry not even a single bit! The only reason why his music puts me to tears is because I hear it just like the way he did!!

    After countless transcriptions of his contemporaries concertos, the master is ready to play his own hand and write an original concerto for solo harpsichord. As is clearly evident, all that transcribing was practice well spent! Thank you for taking us on this journey Gerubach. We appreciate all that you do for us fellow music lovers. :)

      Johann Sebastian Bach died six years before Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born. When he was eight years old, Mozart met Johann Christian Bach, who was a son of J.S. Bach and a composer. At that time the music of J.S. Bach was out of fashion, even his children did not compose in his style. When he was older, Mozart did become familiar with the music of J.S. Bach, in particular with his Well Tempered Clavier. In some of his later works, Mozart was influenced by the music of J.S. Bach

    12:44, how could one possibly have the guts to keep a recording where that flow has been broken and not try again recording the third movement from the beginning?

    • @albertomarcantonio3179

      terryss95 I think that's intentional and not an error.

    • @terryss95

      Alberto Marcantonio
      For wich reason? That is one of the main climaxes of the 3rd movement, why break the flow? It would be of poor taste...

    • @albertomarcantonio3179
      @albertomarcantonio3179 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the performer thought that not as a climax but as an end of a phrase and the beginning of an other. It's a debatable decision but still comprehensible.

    • @terryss95
      @terryss95 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alberto Marcantonio I understand this logical assumption, and if it would be the case, not of bad taste, but please take a closer look at that precise moment: i see the full stop there as an harsh way of pointing out the end of a section, he breaks the tempo.
      What is suggest is, wouldn' t it have been of much greater taste performing that logical separation at the beginning of the new section, rather than at the end of the previous one, breaking the flow that should be kept during the whole movement?

    • @terryss95
      @terryss95 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be precise, why not doing there just a staccato, rather that breaking the tempo, and just pausing a little, right before the part played on the "piano" keyboard of the harpsichord?

      @@user-fu7zf4ck9z I am very pleased about your Italian musical taste.
      It is evident Zane, that you are not «one of the most» who ignores the ABCs of the Baroque. Very good!
      Videos like this one (th-cam.com/video/Ra3I4iYvB9I/w-d-xo.html), where we can hear a bad performance of an Italian composer (quoted by you: Marcello) convey the «scenery» of today musical ignorance.
      An ignorance i mean, that applauds the German '600-'700, almost as if Italians 600-'700 did not exist.
      And, above all (above all), it was absolutely unfair that German and English composers, 300 years ago, have deliberately plagiarized Italian musical geniuses, not clearly stating their sources about their «re-compositions».
      Result: The mediocrity that pervades most of today's «brains», manages to pass off these «transcriptions» as if they were «original compositions».
      Well; On this point I am uncompromising.
      Veritas premitur, non opprimitur.
