Thank you for posting! I watched your video because I believe one of my employees has OCPD. She is an awesome employee and she helps me be a better manager! But what you said about getting bogged down on the procedures is spot on. I’m always worried she thinks I’m flaky or careless because I’m very opposite to her but we also seem to compliment each other. I’ll keep watching your videos for more insights!
Hi Brenda! I’m so glad you found this video useful. That’s really great that you are learning to better understand your people! Not everyone does that. This continues to be one of my more popular videos, so I will definitely consider making more related content.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm looking for a diagnosis of OCPD and I feel like this video will be good to share with others for them to understand how the condition effects me.
Hi Louise! I am grateful that you found this video & you think that it will be helping in explaining your life and behaviors with OCPD! OCPD has a good prognosis, meaning a high likelihood of recovery with proper treatment :-)
Great insights. OCPD should be renamed as PPD (Protectionistic personality disorder). This will avoid confusion with OCD which is totally different form of disorder.
thank you for sharing. i relate quite a bit. I do not have perfect grades, interestingly enough my standards were unreasonably high enough to make me frequently look down on my teachers 😅 as in if i didnt respect the teacher, if i didnt think they were intelligent enough, or hard-working etc then i just not make an effort at all 😪 on the point of giving things up? if i really respected one professor i'd fixate so intensely on doing well there that i'd fail 3 courses if thats what it took to get my perfect grade in the one i liked 😥 these days it happens too that if instructions arent precise enough i freeze and cant even get started because my debilitating fear of failure floods my mind with all of the ways in which i could do the thing Wrong.
Apologies for the late reply, but I've been thinking about your comment! An interesting perspective to find yourself looking down on the teacher but entirely understandable with OCPD. This is what I love about posting these kinds of content -- hearing how OCPD differs in our lives. I relate to what you said about crappy instructions. I find myself critiquing everything rather than moving forward when, of course, we know that we are logically and technically intelligent enough to figure it out; it's the mental illness and deep-seated beliefs preventing us!
I feel this personality disorder should be renamed to Overcontrolled Personality Disorder which still has an acronym of OCPD. It's very annoying when people look up the current OCPD and almost always get OCD instead just because the names are only different by one word.
I have no idea who or what I am suppose to be. I change personalities daily and whatever my surroundings are. I feel like an actor in this movie called Earth. Nobody gets me not even myself. Iure people in at the same time I push people away. I feel like I will never know and meet the real me. I am just walking around in this so called person suit.
I have felt this same way with OCPD, depression, and IED. One thing I've learned is the complexities and contradictions that make up life. We can feel like an actor in this movie, watching ourselves live at the same time that we are actually living. What's interesting is based on this comment of yours, you seem incredibly self-aware, even though you say you don't get yourself. I saw this tweet recently that say "Every therapist I've ever seen said I am 'so self-aware.' And I said 'I think that's part of the problem.'" It resonated with me.
@@youseemnormal Oh yes I am well aware. Mostly my issue I tend to overthink or over analyze. I like seeing thinks in many different perspevtives. Guess why I am numb and neutral. Just staying in my mental hive.

Sounds like borderline personality disorder.
@@klewinhicks OCPD always seems to intertwine with BPD
