Allen, I appreciate that you pointed out that you should design your own garden with plants and decorative items that are meaningful to you; not simply things that are currently 'fashionable'. IMHO that is how we should design everything in our lives.
Happy New Year! One point about whimsy in Southern Gardens, try to avoid water features. Copperheads, Rattlesnakes, and Water moccasins, are likely to be unwelcome guests along with Raccoons- the little devils!
