I think you guys missed out on the coolest bit of lore from this set. So Mishra and Urza they found these things called the mightstone and weakstone and then Tokeshi got between them and tried to stop them and take the stones but she got blown up and died. Otherwise a very good review 10/10

My favorite part was when The Mightstone and the Meekstone did a WotC Approved Family Friendly Act and created Optimum Prime, who then blew up some cave named Tocasia, which caused Urza to murder thousands of innocent people because Mishra rolled through too many stop signs

If you're including DND cards, Elminster is unbeat in terms of body count. Ghosts, Liches, Dragons, Lich Dragons, Elminster romances anything not related to him. Elminster's Daughter is about one of his many children, who robs him and by the end she meets more of her half siblings. Did you also know that he blew up Tocasia in the Caves of Koilos and fled?
Damn El Minster is a horny boy!
Guys did you know that after Tocasia got blown up, she exiled herself from the Dig Site to bring back artifacts with total mana value 10?

Definitely undervaluing Myrel as a commander for Soldier tribal. Her ability to shut people down on your turn is huge, and that attack trigger is amazing.
its probably a slightly worse Krenko. Adeline i would say is still a lot better than Myrel as a commander. I just dont like having to risk Myrel to get her ability. sure theres a lot in white to pump her to mitigate that but thats extra steps. Adeline pumps herself and doesnt have to attack herself
It's one of the few outside of goblins that get such an overpowered token ability on attack.
@@joe2125 Adeline is the better mono white commander sure, but it's not a soldier and doesn't make soldiers. For soldier tribal specifically, Myrel is better.

The bit I love about Simic Tawnos is that you will never feel bad about being killed by Tawnos. The beast and bird deck is never a feel bad

I agree with some comments that Myrel is stronger than what you listed. Having grand abolisher in the command zone is quite a powerful effect, and the amount of times its caught people out from doing block/sacrifice shenanigans in my play group is already adding up. It also forces people to do combat "normally" which means as the combat deck you have the advantage. Also, the fact that the soldiers are artifacts adds that little extra twist so you can play stuff like Losheel. In a lower power meta where people don't run 4 tutors per deck, once she gets rolling, the timers ticking!

I really enjoy this series and love how you compare the commanders to everything not just within the set.
Ashnod is really cool, she was definitely evil and had a staff that could kill a lot of people. She kept trying to help Mishra, he banished her a couple times and she did more things for him and came back, she was very loyal. It was in the final days when Mishra was surrounded by priests of Gix that she got really weary and when we found out about the phyrexians and that they had changed Mishra she gave the Silex Tawnos and told him to give it to Urza, relaying the instructions of how to use it. So she was eveil but she was ultimately aligned against the phyrexians.
Urza puts his duty free shopping bag in the overhead bin on full flights.
When you hand Mishra your phone to look at your pictures he will just start swiping through them without asking.
The original 80's transformers movie is one of my first memories. You know the biggest part of it I recall? A rockin 80's soundtrack.

Really excited to try to build out Soundwave. I love tokens, but I feel most token decks dont have much going on besides just either going wide or making interesting tokens. this one has a clear gameplan, but also feels like each game with it will be different. Also I love how each side kind of feels like different missions. feels like one of the most unique commander designs ive seen in a while
If you put X spells in the deck, you'll always be able to cast them for whatever amount of combat damage is dealt to players and convert Soundwave to boot. Seems fun 😆

Myrel is a grand abolisher+krenko+artifact synergist all in one (the tokens are artifact soldiers). Definitely underestimating this card a good bit yall.
The Mightstone and Weakstone were actually found in the caves of Koilos and as Mishra and Urza were fighting over them like children, because they kinda were children, their mentor Tocasia was killed by Colossal Dreadmaw just outside the caves. Thats actually how it happened.

Bumblebee IS Goldbug. Lore is he died in the cartoon and was rebuilt as Goldbug, and the reason they chose him is because Goldbug is the name he uses in the Shattered Glass storyline. Same reason why Slicer isn’t Wheeljack

So many great commanders, don't know which to choose for my next deck.
My only complaint with the video is that I felt there wasn't enough lore for Urza and Mishra discussed. Such as how Urza claimed the mightstone and Mishra the weakstone. But most sad of all was Tocasia getting blown up during the battle between the two brothers.

There are also a ton more soldiers around than you guys seen to think, they have been around since almost the beginning and some of them have fairly decent abillities, although azorius isnt the best colors, should have been bant or jeskai and would be really decent.
Cant wait to build a Jodah Deck with all Transformers and maybe even put all the Saturday Morning Cartoon Secret Lair cards into it for more flavor.
Prowl can also exile your own creatures. This can be good for getting ETBs a second time and for feeding his backside's ability as well

It would be intersting to here why Urza joins as being a 10 Power making there be only 7 cards with a power level of 10. His ability alone to meld is 7 where Mishra's is a free meld when attacking with a piece that can be unearthed. If Urza Dies the chance to get its meld piece back seems difficult.

Holy molly, Ezuri, claw of progress is rank 1175?? O_o he was my baby commander many years after release, flavorful, not broken but powerful. Well I don't have that deck anymore cause I got tired to put +1/+1 counters everywhere :D but now he is in my artifact/phyrexian/sci-fi whatever commander cube 😇

I run a non combo Mishra deck, and it does fine in a combat meta, by using really strong etbs (DrachNyen and Ish Sah) you can keep a lot of creatures in check and sneak the 4/4s through

In the mishra precon you can get cursed mirror and brunaclad working and it is ridiculous.
The transformer cards are honestly dope. Working on collecting all the shattered glass versions so I can stop tocasia from blowing up Optimus prime.
As the transforms theme says gotta collect them all in the shattered glass form to stop the evil Tokeshi.
Also, Hajjar is okay in the new Jodah.

Question (advice): if you were making an upgraded deck from the Urza precon, and you were lucky enough to pull both the Urza, Lord Commander AND Mightstone/Weakstone….would you include them in the deck as part of the 99? Or no?

Nah, Jetfire (known as "Skyfire" in the original series) is a big time awesome transformer, with a more interesting backstory than most. Something to the effect of originally being programmed (or maybe brainwashed? Someone can chime in) by deceptions to be evil. His story begins when the autobots discover him frozen in a glacier where he's been for many many years. He is ostensibly an autobot from that point forward but has several plot lines in which he questions his place in life (like, am I good or evil?). This includes his autobot comrades infrequently exhibiting their distrust of Jetfire in several plot lines.
Really just one of the deeper characters in the original story and honestly was a heavy fan favorite. I have no idea where you guys are coming from with those comments. Keep in mind, I'm not even into transformers that much (since being a kid anyway).

Bumblebee technically is in this set because Goldbug is the name Bumblebee took up after he was rebuilt.
Jetfire is a fairly popular character being the first Autobot to have a flying alt-mode and having pretty major roles in every cartoon he's appeared in.
Turning into smaller objects like a cassette player and boom box is achieved by warping away excess mass. We are aware this makes no sense.
Starscream is easily the best written character in the entire franchise.
I do care about all this but why do the females have boobs? :P
@@NitpickingNerds Unfortunately this franchise was made in the 80's lol. They really thought girls wouldn't be interested if it wasn't VERY clear that one was a girl. Arcee and Flamewar aren't even the worst. Look up Blackarachnia lmao. They literally sent the guy designing her to the strip club before working on her design because they wanted her to be a sexy femme fatale type and they figured if he was horned up he would deliver 😂. So my answer is sexism and also more sexism

Built a Slicer deck and he can consistently kill people turn 4, often earlier even. Maybe the strongest voltron commander ever
