As much as I love Avatar for their willingness to try new styles and instruments for a song or two, that does make it quiet difficult for live shows. I was disappointed in the lack of cello when I saw them live once, but getting a bunch of violins might be difficult if they had help. A piano would be badass to include, but I don't expect an organ for Sky Burial to appear on a stage for one song.
I was hesitant to pick up this album, because I loved the previous two so much. I heard Johannes say in an interview it was a 'concept album'... well fucking done. Concept solidified. Avatar does not disappoint
I discovered them last June when I stayed after the opening I came to see finished. Fucking INSTANTLY they went into my top 5 bands. Right beside Judas Priest, KSE, Rammstein & LoG
This tune is so damn amazing! I can't get over how amazing Avatar are! I'm so glad I stumbled upon them a few weeks ago and instantly fell in love! I was lucky enough to see them in Belfast a week ago for the first leg of their Eu Tour! They blew me away!! This takes place near the end of the story, Eagle lies dead at the efforts of Wolf and Owl, and although Eagle is gone, the sun continues to rise, Owl pleads Wolf for an answer to why this is, but Wolf is weak, and dying from the battle, with his final words he explains what is happening, the truth of the sunrise. Owl finally admits defeat in her war against the light. "Wolf said, 'Now I must rest, for his claws cut me deep.' And Owl answered her friend, 'It's alright... Go to sleep.'" At which point this song begins, Owl's lamentation for the death of her friend Wolf. "Wolf drifted off, and his old eyes went black. Owl knew he was gone, and was not coming back."
