- I saw that Gotham City (Link in the comments) put up this game yesterday and had the genius idea to upload the game here and provide y'all with a Livesync link so you can watch them together, but it doesn't really work with the edits that were made to Levy's video. So instead i just thought i'd just upload it and copy his title and thumbnail for the giggles. :)

well, he does say that regularly against anyone. he usually says that even though he is losing, but something like "i dont like that move/i feel like he's misplaying this a bit, but he's still better" or something like "i just have to prove it"
but when he compliments a move, i usually pause the video to understand why (or just screenshot if it's his stream)
I believe full heartedly that Hikaru is jealous with how successful Levy's channel has become

I always looked at it as a friendly gesture, seems like hikaru holds levy to high standards and is very critical when he thinks he's not playing as well as he is

I think because he does it so often, people seem to overlook the feat. I have seen him like this, casually roll over Anish like Anish was some 2200+. He is very good.

not to discredit all the GM out there, but Levy is struggling against Kosteniuk in IM not GM match training, so GM is a GM for reasons.

Their commentary on this was actually pretty similar. Where Hikaru was saying Levy made mistakes, Levy was saying Hikaru was destroying him. Both felt the position was lost for white but after losing the queen both said Levy could still try to hold for a move or two before both accepted it was lost and Levy resigned
Both understand the position equally, but Hikaru can control it better.
If I played against Hikaru I would also understand that I am being decimated by him
From Levys POV it seems like you're playing super fast, but from your POV it just seems like normal chess speed
Because Hikaru predicts and tells you the next moves in advance, so it doesn't appear super fast, but it is actually super fast.

@RaniaIsAwesomecalculating lines is a given for them, and pointing out the lines they calculate don’t help themselves in any way and don’t help the viewer either as calculation is just one of those things that you’re either good at or you’re not, and regardless of that you will still have to practice and train a lot and watching high level games won’t help you with that. what hikaru does mention is ideas, positional chess and principles as that is something the viewer actually can pick up on from watching experienced players

It’s true that Hikaru didn’t hold back his thoughts on Levy’s play, but I feel like a lot of the commenters are unaware of how Hikaru normally talks about himself. He’s constantly hypercritical of his own moves, too-I don’t think he was out for blood or anything.
This is just how he talks about his opponents moves when he's streaming. Watching ANY Titled Tuesday game would show people that.

To Hikaru, Levi isn't much of a challenge. To us though Levi would destroy us just as bad. 2300 IM ain't no joke either.
this is a 2700 vs 3200, so levi would destroy a 2200 just as easily as hikaru destroyed him. if you are 1700, you will get just as easily destroyed by the 2200, and so on. basically if you are 1200 you are 4 destructions of 500-rating differences away from hikaru.
