- The mountains on the west of Lake Como don’t have as many roads to ride as the east - but the round trip through Val Rezzo and Val Carvagna on Route SP 11 and SP10 are a good option to explore small Italian villages on tiny roads - and enjoy the views on the amazing mountains that surround Lake Como
- I have stayed in several different hotels on the lake - but whenever I visit Como now I make sure to stay a night at hotel Darsena. It’s a down to earth hotel with one of the best views on the lake - and has a fantastic restaurant
- Instead of heading to the busy town Menaggio, start your trip at Griante and take the ferry to enjoy Lake Como from the middle of the lake
- Visit Bellagio! Bellagio is often referred to as the Pearl of Lake Como and probably it’s most famous town. It’s colorful old town and majestic villas are worth a day visit - but it can get quite busy with a lot of tourists
- From Bellagio ride up to the mountains direction Civenna and Gemo - and then turn on Route SP44 that will bring you back to Lake Como over a nice curvy road
- Don't miss out on having a real Italian Pizza!
- Take a ferry to Varenna and explore the east side of Lake Como!
- North of Varenna, Right after the ton Bellano, you find route sp66 - small roads, that snake up the mountains on the shores of lake Como in many serpentines
- For some amazing scenery in the Como area head to Route SP62, that turns into the much smaller Route SP64 at the town Balisio and SP25 after Avolasio
- on the way home take the road over Passo San Marco for some mountains with alpine character!

I travelled around lake Como in early 1980, on the way to Madesimo for a skiing holiday. What a beautiful place!

Such a gorgeous lake - tight up there with Tahoe and Lake Lucerne! I enjoyed your musical accompaniment. That hotel, DeSalerno, looks wonderful - right on thexlake and not full of tourists or "the beautiful people" showing off. Some of those roads wouldxreal.y be harrowing in a car. Not sure how much scenery you can take in with all the curves and oncoming traffic. The ferry seems a great objective, and I could laze on it - taking 8n all the views, for hours. I had a postervprint of Lake Co o's shores at a very young age, and always imagined it as the ideal place in the world to be. I think it would be great to live in Lugano and have such easy access to this glorious Lake. Lugano is beautiful in its own right, and a ,ively city to enjoy as well, though CH is so expensive. Thanks for sharing your adventure!

My Wife and I stayed at Lake Como to Celebrate a Friends 40Th Birthday. we rented a villa on Via S. Ambrogio with a balcony overhanging the lake.
A water taxi took us for a birthday dinner at Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni totally amazing! We rented a motorboat for the week and cruised the lake calling at among others, Villa del Balbianello past George Cloony's house {very understated) down to Villa d'Este (overrated).
We have visited 35 countries in the last 30 years and I was stunned just how beautiful Como is.
Your latest video gives a real flavour of the area.
I think it is the most beautiful lake in the world.
Looking forward to the Book coming out in English put me down for a copy.

On top of Passo San Marco you can find beatiful sculptures. On differen places. The unknown artists that make them do come back sometimes to finish another piece of their artwork. If you look around you wil find them.
Hi, maybe are you talking about the artworks made of recicled items by Raffaele Cornaggia of Morbegno?
Check "Scraps World" and you find him. Some of his works in fact are scattered around, like the flowers made of old snowboards

My favourite country, particularly the north. I must admit I prefer Garda to Como but both are beautiful. Have done several trips and ended up living in a town near Milan, Pregnana Milanese. for a year as a base. Love the lifestyle, the people, the food, the wine and the cars. Not the bikes unfortunately, but Aprilia aren't too bad having said that. I loved this video many thanks...............è come sempre meraviglioso seguire le tue avventure. Pleased the fall was not serious!
I like lake como more as a lake - but Garda has better riding around. Best thing is to combine both! 😍

Wonderful.. Wonderful.. Wonderful.. Just loved to trip... You are so luck being on the same landmass... Everything from the (Unloved now) UK is a complete pain in the arse. But, I think that trip will be nearly as good in my Abarth 595 Turismo.. Small car on small roads... Bring it on!!!

Did it in an 850 Mini back in August 1970. We were on our way to a camp site on the Adriatic Coast near Richione, from the UK in the days when the AA would send you a route planner with suggested detours. This was one such detour. Absolutely beautiful and I still love Italy. We returned a couple of years later in a 1275 Copper S and got mobbed at every petrol station ha ha.
I`m jealous of your trip.. I`ve done central Italy tour on a motorbike but plan to do more of Europe (ish), specifically Switzerland, Austria, Lichtenstein and Italy in my Abarth 595 Turismo pocket rocket ( a 2000`s Italian version of your 1275 Cooper S) should be awesome.

I enjoyed re-living this experience. I have visited Italy 3 times as parts of trips to Europe and my favorites in Italy were the Amalfi Coast and the mountain lakes area in the north. My daughter and I did a Lake Como cruise as part of a Go Ahead Jewels of the Alpine tour in 2016 to see the countries of the Alps. Great video. From St. Louis

You are so lucky in Europe to be able to get to nice scenic mountain roads without traveling too far. This area looks beautiful. lake como seriously is still a hidden gem, especially in spring or autumn. i really enjoyed the last part of your video. i did Morbegno - Passo San Marco - San Giovanni Bianco - Dervio on my old Tenere last summer. small rollercoaster roads and great lanscape which put a smile on my face almost every minute.

I think you passed also by Culmine San Pietro and then though Val Taleggio before approaching the road for Passo S.Marco. Those are nice places! I may suggest to visit Oltrepo' Pavese next time, just below Milan. Cheers from IT

This brought back memories of riding my Moto Guzzi from Norway to Mandello del Lario for an engine upgrade. Sadly, I only spent one day there of a month-long vacation.
The scenery is absolutely gorgeous, the film hard to watch because it makes you giddy!!! So I reluctantly had to stop my viewing.....thank you for doing this tho, I would love to spend some time here, but not likely now as I'm now an old bird in the US ! Enjoy your life & this delightful place !!!

Inspiration for my next big trip on my GSA in 2022, great viewing on a wet miserable afternoon in northern England😎👍. I’ve dropped my GSA several times on solo trips, the locals have normally helped me get it back on two wheels, just a few scratches to bring back memories of great trips😀.
