Great video, I would add three points: - how to record direct audio and sync it with the video in postproduction - how to shoot different angles and how to edit them together to make the video more interesting and more professional looking - how to frame the video for both horizontal and vertical usages
@@marcus268 I don't need to know that (I already know how to), I just stated the point that it could be cool to cover those aspects as well, for other viewers :)
I've been considering starting my own channel, and find this video to be SUPER helpful. Thanks very much for taking the time to explain the visual aspects! Would definitely be interested in seeing more like this.
Many thanks for doing this video - really helpful. I have a BMPCC 4K coming in the mail today as I plan to up my own video production (or try to) from my iPhone. Trying to find that balance as a musician with music and video. Just love those Blackmagic cameras tho. Time to explore some lenses too! Great advice on the lighting as well - that stuff can be overlooked for sure.
Thanks Federico, it's really interesting to see your video setup, great gear. I'm just starting out on my TH-cam journey and I'm just using my iPhone and the sun, lots of fun though, many thanks! 🙌🎶
I think that you’re a great producer and a great video content creator! Over time I’ve realized that gear matters less and less and it’s my abilities what actually matters. Still it inspires me to watch your videos and I stay up to date by watching your Chanel . Would love to see what you think about the sequentix cirklon in a future video but no pressure ✌️it has changed everything in my hardware setup for good. Have a great week! Cheers
Thank you!! Beautiful work always. This one was excellent. Musical expression with an equally artistic visual element is important. This is good work man. I appreciate it.
OOOOOOH! )) first of all great video, i've always admired you music, taste and aesthetic. i have a 3/4 Sony cam, some old glass (a prime 50mm 1.4f Minolta my dad gave me in the 80s plus a couple of nice and not too expensive SLR Magic primes i love as well) and some simple lighting. i have a background in photography as well. but what really locks me up as far as making educational or performance videos is how to handle the audio.. as a theatrical sound designer/composer, plus some acoustic/electroacoustic guitar, i kind of have SO many audio options that i wonder what would be the best MO; stereo mic directly to iPhone or Sony? a separate computer collecting audio from the air (mics), plus output from a main machine? one machine playing and collecting everything? and the best technique to marry it all together... what's the best ratio of simple to complex doing this? thought for sure you would get into this, and knowing you (somewhat!) i would expect you've tried many different setups and have some opinions about a few of them! and then the 7 seconds at the end where you were like, "oh yeah! i run it all into Ableton! bye!" was sort of delightful, in an ironic way :) well played! sounds like you'll get into it in the future, so looking forward! thanks for the topic. appreciate you. tchau!
Nobody shows this topic and it’s very interesting to me thank you! I wish Andrew Huang or “live” performance ppl gave more info on their recording & editing process.
Hi there, thanks for this video. I looked at your patreon for the tag "video", but there was none. How much video production content is on your patreon?
good point i should have mentioned that. i have the wireless mic that record directly in camera and i record the music in ableton and edit all together in da vinci resolve
Thanks for the explanation of your process! What are you doing to sync the music and your voice with the video? I assume you're recording both in Ableton and not using any audio from the camera? How do you sync them when editing the video, especially when you have cuts rather than just one long take?
I also wonder, if you use the same 6K black magic camera for live streaming. I ask because I want to understand how realistic it is to get higher quality - 1080p , 1440, 2160p quality livestreams. I saw a few of your live streams, one within the last year, which it appears is when you started uploading 4K edited videos, and one from 3 years agi, which appears was before you pgraded from 1080p. And both the older and newer videos appear to have much lower quality.
Hi, I am very interested in this kind of music and I would like to learn. I am beginner but I don’t know where to start. Is your Patreon a good place? Do you have any advice for a real beginner? Thank you for your time!
i have lot of beginner students and i am always happy to help people step by step. Definitely patreon is where i can help best, unless you want to do an intensive one on one program!
For speed of workflow, why not just setup a JPEG profile with the saturation and contrast settings you like? RAW helps fix problems but you’re in a controlled studio environment so you shouldn’t be having problems that require large EV compensation in post.

Zoom Fr3 or Tascam Av , research them, and time code generator

We were inspired by this video to try our hand at recording live sessions. We've already done a few and it's been a great experience! Thanks Oora!

It really is!
Very nice to make a video about this! And your videos look better than any other synth dudes on TH-cam in my opinion so good person to give advice 🙂
Wow, thanks!

but what really locks me up as far as making educational or performance videos is how to handle the audio..
as a theatrical sound designer/composer, plus some acoustic/electroacoustic guitar, i kind of have SO many audio options that i wonder what would be the best MO;

a separate computer collecting audio from the air (mics), plus output from a main machine?
one machine playing and collecting everything?
and the best technique to marry it all together...
what's the best ratio of simple to complex doing this?
thought for sure you would get into this, and knowing you (somewhat!) i would expect you've tried many different setups and have some opinions about a few of them!

Very interesting video as usual, but I have a question: what about audio in your setup? Did you record it from the monitors?
good point i should have mentioned that. i have the wireless mic that record directly in camera and i record the music in ableton and edit all together in da vinci resolve

iiii know!
same questions.
Hi Oora. You are using any kind of audio processing for your voice? Its sounds very clear and you windows are open with the street noise and stuff
yes I use a plugin called Supertone Clear that does miracles!

sadly the BM only streams at 1080... was surprised to know that. But also with 4k streams there is a lot of glitches. I feel is not yet that easy.
We need an OoraVideography youtube channel asap! 😁
ci mancherebbe solo quello ahahah

what lens do you use for your 6k?
i have a 28 , 30 and 90 leica L
Having to much light causes my light emitting pads on the analog rythm to blend with the light.
yeah happen to me too :D
