honestly the ecu doesnt look that bad, i would give it a bath in isopropyl alcohol or scrub it with a toothbrush and a contact cleaner spray. most of the electronics are coated with a hydrophobic coating, so it is probably fine still. doesnt hurt to give it a try.
@@DGTelevsionNetwork you would be suprised with how much contact cleaner can do. i work on phones and other smaller electronics like that, i wouldnt be able to count how many completely flooded, rusty phones i brought back to life for data recovery just by cleaning their motherboards.
Randy once you replace those two relays that key shall pop out the one relay is for the factory theft system and the other is pretty much an main relay for everything connected to ecu modules
This isn't the Auto Tried a Couple of Things channel. Keep at it, get a computer, expect the fuel pump to be bad, replace relays and fuses. Of course it can run again, any car can run again, it all depends on how badly you want to make it happen. I am not a huge fan of the Eclipse, but I imagine you could get it up and running without going broke, and if it cleans up well enough, you won't even lose money on it, at least not too much.
Randy, I would honestly give that computer and harness connectors a good scrub with alcohol. Yes they look nasty and they have corrosion. Just don’t look bad. I personally think investing a couple dollars in isopropyl alcohol and an old toothbrush would be worth trying. Good seeing Nick involved with your car shenanigans. Hope the kid picks up some of your knowledge. Good trade to have under your belt.
Good to see Mike and Nick in the video!! Hopefully you go further wit da car and bring it to life! I’m still waiting on dat crown Vic I can’t wait to see it even tho it runs😉
Hey hello Randy! Not sure this comment will reach your eyes, but well... I think i may have an explanation for the shifter being free and the key not getting out. When i converted my Saturn SL2 to manual, i had to play at both places. They're actually linked by some wire. As i recall when the wire was disconnected, the key was not going out because there was nothing "telling" mechanically the switch that the car was on Park. The shifter itself depends of the key position to be unlocked too. My Volvo S70 that i converted to manual was not made that way, though, but i guess it's probable that the Mitsubishi works in a similar manner to my Saturn. So it could have 2 wires at the shifter. One for the PNP switch in the engine bay and the other to interract with the ignition switch.
If you are going to keep working on flooded cars, you may want to think about getting an ultrasonic cleaner to see if you can save these modules. Even the cheap one from harbor fright could do the job. Just be sure to get the bigger one so you can use it for more parts than then small one
Another good one. It’s a great day when you and Mike are together lol. Really like to buy that EXP had a 1982 my dad bought it for me my junior year in 83.loved that little car.it was great on gas and was a great date with the seats laying all the way back lol
I've brought saltwater soaked controllers back around with a dip in the ultrasonic tank. It won't fix units with pins that are completely corroded off and ICs with terminals that are corroded completely off. I't's also made boards that were in pretty rough shape look physically worse but they didn't work when I started and they still didn't work when I was done. Nothing ventured nothing gained.😅
Hi Randy Mike & Nick, what a great video together you guys are amazing together I can’t wait to see this car running and driving, please wash the undercarriage of the car and clean it out before you send it to auction it’s disgusting inside and out
Hey Randy, I just saw your video on the eclipse. I hope you can get it running for us and running for you guys. I can’t wait to see the next video on it. Tell Mike and Nick I said hi and I’ll be looking out for your next video on the clips I’ll talk to you soon buddy see you
I feel like you all should go all out on this vehicle and give to Nick as a gift when finished. Let him keep the Saab, but this would be like his starter "Special Car". Something that he would take out on the weekends or something along those lines. Just a thought. Of course do what you believe is best, but looking forward to seeing more.
This was a great video as always and I enjoyed this laot and always love when mike is in the videos love when you two get together and also love seeing nick hanging out with ya and helping work on the car. And cant wait for the next video and i onow u can get her running again i love the flood car videos. Anyways thanks for sharing keep up the great work much love to ya have a good one take care god bless and I will see ya on the next one
I told you a while back that car haulers chain the rear control arms to the rollback bed and pull the winch tight and bend the control arms. Most of them hammer right back Yours have to be replaced they ;look like they have been forked and lifted up and drug very roughly.
Yeah Mike, when you turn your hat around and wear it backwards or off to the side, it does make you look a little younger, but it also drops your I.Q by about 100 points.
Good morning Randy and Mike aka Monkey Wrench Mike. Working on the 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse that was a flood car. Let's see if you can get it running. Hello Nick.
I’ve seen the damage to the control arms before on other vehicles it’s from a tow company hooking the hooks to the arms when they pulled it on a flatbed it’s what happens when tow operations get lazy or just don’t care
Randy just looked up on google and other forms. The computer should be in the same spot that you just got your computer out. That should be the engine ECU.
Randy, that was fun to hear that “coming back at ya with another lit video.” I believe it’s time to do a collab video with Luckys Wheelz N Dealz… Yup I would pay to see that one.😂
While waiting on replacement parts just for shits and giggles hose down corroded modules and connectors with contact cleaner or break cleaner as there might be some life left. I've salvaged more than a few flood damaged computers over the years and so long that nothing is eaten completely through they do come back to life with some effort.
I don't know if I'm not seeing it correctly or you have to be there in person but when looking at it head-on through the camera view (which may be backwards or whatever that's why I'm mentioning it) if you remove that sensor or got it out of the way there's no way you could slide that starter to the left away from the CV axle joint more towards the middle of the car and it wouldn't slide out or is that catching above or something that I cannot see???
You could probably let the circuit boards soak in some IPA(Isopropyl Alcohol) then scrub them good with a toothbrush to clean the corrosion an stuff off.
Randy and Mike together are amazing 😂😂😂
Yes i agree
I agree I thank some of these are more awesome with monkey wrench Mike and Randy's son nick
i wish more people could get along like this, i agree they are amazing as friends!!! fun to watch em bounce ideas off eachother
Facts.
The best duo! The yin to his yang lmao
I love when Mikes in Randy’s videos. You guys make me laugh 😂
The button on top of the shifter handle that is the shift lock it has to pop up for it to release the key
Randy I love seeing Nick wrenching with you and Mike. Can’t wait to see the next video on this car. Really been enjoying the flood cars.
15:52 ‘dad’

That doesn't treat the electrolysis damage to the integrated circuit transistors.
@@DGTelevsionNetwork you would be suprised with how much contact cleaner can do. i work on phones and other smaller electronics like that, i wouldnt be able to count how many completely flooded, rusty phones i brought back to life for data recovery just by cleaning their motherboards.
You can't hit a grand slam homer every time. Good to see Nick hanging in there.
so great that nick loves to hang around and work with ya 👍
Mike has always had that high energy level……like he just finished running a marathon!😂
Nick is low-key like a insert character but he brings some young energy to the videos so love to see it
I like the cliffhanger. This is a significant car. Many people love this car.
Shout out Randy, Mike & Nick 👍. Looks like the tow company dragged it on the truck by the rear suspension arms 🤔. Would be my guess. 🎬🚘🔥✌️🫡
MR Mike is the man for this job ha ha good luck boys have a great day ?????
Randy once you replace those two relays that key shall pop out the one relay is for the factory theft system and the other is pretty much an main relay for everything connected to ecu modules
Anxiously awaiting the new parts. I want to see this thing run again.
You two are hilarious 😅. Love seeing Nick hanging out with you
Yes another video off this car, great video and work guys😀🔥
I love to see this iconic car! Don't give up on it! The cylinders were ok and a whole ebay wiring harness might be out there.
Hey there Randy the gear shifter has a button that is not popping up to let the key to come out
Respect when not every repair is a success. May the next video show progress with that Mitsubishi.
Glad you didn't give up on tje Eclipse

From Memphis and I love both of you guys channel…. real fans are waiting for the ..MIKE & RANDY channel
Randy nice video! Just curious when we will get to see your 11k mile aero vic I’ve been so excited to see it! Happy new year!
I love the Eclipse, @mitsubishi give us back our coupe

I've brought printed circuit boards back to life with this method.
Good to see Mike and Nick in the video!! Hopefully you go further wit da car and bring it to life! I’m still waiting on dat crown Vic I can’t wait to see it even tho it runs😉
Randy and Mike show are great to watch

Good to see you, Monkey wrench Mike and Nick working hard to try to get his flood car working 😎😎👍👍
The camaraderie is always beautiful to watch.❤
Yes Mike brings the best out of you... good to see nick too 👍 happy new year too you all
Those old eclipses were great cars they ran and ran
You can try cleaning the old ECU first. Use a ultrasonic cleaner if you have one. But if you don't, use brake and parts cleaner an a toothbrush .
Another good one. It’s a great day when you and Mike are together lol. Really like to buy that EXP had a 1982 my dad bought it for me my junior year in 83.loved that little car.it was great on gas and was a great date with the seats laying all the way back lol
Randy and Mike is always fire 🔥️🔥️🔥
Good to see Nick in the videos.
They are fun cars when they are working though.
The key won’t come out unless the shifter is locked in park. There should be an adjustment screw/bolt under the trim around the shifter….
I've brought saltwater soaked controllers back around with a dip in the ultrasonic tank.
It won't fix units with pins that are completely corroded off and ICs with terminals that are corroded completely off. The damaged control arms are from the j hooks on the Rollback that hauled it. They winched it down to tight.
Once you get it worked out, it'll be a good car again, I can feel it
Appreciation for putting the screws to the the project Mike
Hi Randy Mike & Nick, what a great video together you guys are amazing together I can’t wait to see this car running and driving, please wash the undercarriage of the car and clean it out before you send it to auction it’s disgusting inside and out
Great Work
Hey Randy, I just saw your video on the eclipse. I hope you can get it running for us and running for you guys. I can’t wait to see the next video on it. Tell Mike and Nick I said hi and I’ll be looking out for your next video on the clips I’ll talk to you soon buddy see you
You guys have a great time
I'd say the shifter lock mechanism is stuck on the shifter is why you can't get the key out
Love you guys!!!
Looking forward for the next eclipse video
What about the crown victoria
Keep up the videos, would love to find one of these at auction, my first car was a 98 Eclipse in green
You guys are a team
I feel like you all should go all out on this vehicle and give to Nick as a gift when finished. Let him keep the Saab, but this would be like his starter "Special Car". Something that he would take out on the weekends or something along those lines. Just a thought. Of course do what you believe is best, but looking forward to seeing more.
The shifter release button could be stuck down.
I love this build randy.❤
This was a great video as always and I enjoyed this laot and always love when mike is in the videos love when you two get together and also love seeing nick hanging out with ya and helping work on the car. The thumb button on the shifter could be rusted in the in position? That could be why the key is stuck.
Sucks the episodes are short but really enjoying them nonetheless
Some of the Mitsubishi had a button that lock keys in the ignition under the steering wheel
some times you must push key in and turn
I told you a while back that car haulers chain the rear control arms to the rollback bed and pull the winch tight and bend the control arms. Most of them hammer right back Yours have to be replaced they ;look like they have been forked and lifted up and drug very roughly.
Mike has a great laugh
Yeah Mike, when you turn your hat around and wear it backwards or off to the side,
it does make you look a little younger, but it also drops your I.Q by about 100 points.
I had an 08 Mitsubishi lancer they had a TCM and ECM and a computer for the ac climat controle
Good video 😀
Randy don’t give up on this car.
With that cap on backwards Mr. Wrench looks like a welder. Every inch a welder!
Whay dont you tray to clean it whit alcohol and thotbrush maybe that help
Yall 2 gotta do more content as a pod together and stuff 😂😂
When it´s fixed it would be a really cool summercar for Nick!
Ohhh nooooo
No cap great video yall two😅😅😅
The button on top of the gear shifter needs to come back up in order for the key to come out

That’s from the way they ran the straps on the transporter iv done the same thing before
You guys please be safe and careful 😊🙏
Hi Randy and Mike
While waiting on replacement parts just for shits and giggles hose down corroded modules and connectors with contact cleaner or break cleaner as there might be some life left. I've salvaged more than a few flood damaged computers over the years and so long that nothing is eaten completely through they do come back to life with some effort.
MORE NICK AND MWM!
Amazing video ❤❤❤
Tow truck love strapping cars down with the control arms
It's the Dynamic Duo plus Nick lol
Those relays are most likely for the fuel pump and/or engine control
Ecu looks like a NES cartridge just blow into it and plug it back in😂
A flood car is a done car.
Was the engine computer behind the driver's headlight? That's what I found when searching the web.
To make your life easier you can pull out the intake manifold and you will have a lot of room to work on the starter motor
Hellow Randy an mike good luck buddy's
Look in the passenger front wheelwell inside the car.
That car will run
Hey at least you are trying
I don't know if I'm not seeing it correctly or you have to be there in person but when looking at it head-on through the camera view (which may be backwards or whatever that's why I'm mentioning it)
if you remove that sensor or got it out of the way there's no way you could slide that starter to the left away from the CV axle
joint more towards the middle of the car and it wouldn't slide out or is that catching above or something that I cannot see???
You wont get the key out till you get the shifter lock to work you get that to work key come right out
Looks like the rear arms were bent with j -hooks from the tow truck if it was tied down to hard
She will start in time. 😊👍
You could probably let the circuit boards soak in some IPA(Isopropyl Alcohol) then scrub them good with a toothbrush to clean the corrosion an stuff off.
Wow, are those factory headers on it? Those yard guys need talking to about being more careful with those dam forks.
