Survivor has been on the air for more than 20 years, having put 40 seasons under its belt. Close to 600 castaways have competed in those 40 games, each one hoping to be crowned the final Survivor. While it’s a hard thing to accept for fans of the show, some of those contestants have unfortunately passed away in the intervening years since they competed in the game.

Some of them, like B.B. Andersen and Rudy Boesch, went on to reach old age before passing away. Others came to more tragic ends, in some cases not long after they competed on Survivor. It took ten years for the first cast death to hit the Survivor family, when Jenn Lyon passed away in 2010. But since then, seven other castaways have died from various causes.
The families of some contestants, like Dan Kay and Ashley Massaro, kept their causes of death private. While it’s hard to avoid rumors when someone well-known passes away, there isn’t always a definitive answer to why it happened. Other contestants, like Caleb Bankston and Jenn Lyon, met tragic ends because of things outside of their control.
In this video, we’re going to pay tribute to the Survivor castaways who have passed away since playing the game. You’ll also hear some of the heartfelt words shared by Survivor host, Jeff Probst, after these much-loved contestants died. It’s clear from his words how much of a family the Survivor cast really is. As fan, we’re lucky to be able to consider ourselves part of that extended family.
If you’ve been a fan of the show since the beginning, some of these names will definitely stir up some good memories of many different seasons. Those memories will continue to live on with the fans long after these castaways passed on.

I feel bad for calib and his family but I find it very hard to have any empathy for colton, I know that sounds bad and I dont usually feel that way about others but he just struck a deep nerve that I cant get over...

It’s fucked up because somebody he loves, died….if you can’t have sympathy for him in that regard then(no offense), you’re missing something in your heart.
rudy was so strong for his then age at 72 and 75.
Even living till 91 is really strong, my grandmother pass on before 50 due to diabetes:*(

@@AlexG-pt2zs Rest in power is a term used most recently as a part of the BLM movement. It's used by black people to show support for the black people killed by police brutality.
(If you're white, you should not be using it. If you're using it about a white person, you should not be using it. "Rest in (black) Power" is a term used by black people to show solidarity and support for other black people who have passed. Using it in any manner other than that drastically diminishes it's original intent)
Edit: People use it because they're ignorant of it's meaning. Most people use it because they see it trending on Twitter and think it's a cool new way to say RIP. Which it's not.

I am not a regular Survivor viewer. But I am a 71 yr. old, 10-yr. breast cancer survivor, and I am always saddened to hear of younger women dying from this horrible, and chronic, disease. Jen, the young woman who died of breast cancer, was a stunningly beautiful woman, and seems as if she was a beautiful person inside as well. May she, and all the other contestants who have passed away, Rest In Peace.
My mom too have breast cancer but she is young, she have it for 5 years now. She seems happy everyday, maybe putting a brave face for me and my brother.

Caleb's death got me when I found out. He was so humble and likeable. Poor Colton, nobody deserves this.
I literally just finished the season with Caleb with my boyfriend last night. can't believe it.

I didn't know she had a daughter. At least Alexa can carry on her name and tell Ashley's story to her grandkids like she wanted.
Cook Islands was my favorite season, watching Ozzy Yul Becky and Sundra run that game with half the numbers was amazing. Rip to all contestants that have passed god bless

Wow, I grew up watching this series. This really makes me realize that life is short and precious.
Feels yesterday when we watched them play and today some are gone.
Wow, I didn’t realize half of them died, the Cliff one hit me particularly hard.
On the bright side, at least it has only been eight out of a 600, was expecting more...but I guess the typical Survivor player is younger and healthier than the average North American is more generally.
Cliff is the only black player to have died. The others were all caucasian.

I didn't know who all from survivor had passed away. I remember watching the all star season, seeing Rob and Amber getting together. When Rob Purposed to Amber that brought me to tears. That was my favorite moment from survivor. May the former contestants that have passed away, R.I.P
another loss happened as of today Ralph Kiser from Survivor Redemption Island has passed away from a heart attack at 56.

I have LOVED Survivor ever since getting hooked on Survivor Africa--back in 2001, I think. I was touring with an drama group and one of the actresses loved Survivor so we all watched it on Thursday nights. My all time favorite season has to be when the All stars season had a lot of players return: to play the GREATEST SEASON, season 40!!!

Your daughter was a great contestant. She was targeted so much but stayed alive for a long time. She was very likable as well.

She came back a winner having an unbelievable experience that pushed her to be a better version of herself. She made several very close lifelong friends!

@@KevinGetchell She vacationed with Mike, Kara, Alec and Christian to Fiji last year. She has maintained close friendships with Mike, Gabby, Kara, Alec and Christian. Both Mike White and Gabby have roles in her wedding in November. She also is friends and in contact with Natalia, Bi, Natalie, John and Davey. She really likes Elizabeth, Carl and Nick, too, but doesn’t talk to them as often. She actually likes everyone from her season!

Survivor Australian Outback is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SEASON!!!! The contestants were so nice to each other, and great fun to watch!

season 2 Australia or Africa was the best. Back in the days when survivor was all about surviving. The early seasons were tough
Yesss and the challenges were better. There are way too many puzzles or endurance. And rhe endurance ones aren't even fun and long like before
Outback season was my favorite. I liked it better when it was actually about survival! Always wondered why they didn't use locales like the mountains, temperate forests, or colder climates. But I guess that's because they wanted the women in skimpy clothing!

Yes. It is also my favourite seasons of all time. The locations were also challenging to the cast and crew

So I am currently watching survivor, Season 28.. and seeing that cliff died hit a spot for me I was searching to see what happens to everyone after the show, if they get money ? And what possible takeaways did they gain but after seeing this it hurts honestly my heart goes out to all that lost a beautiful life but they can now rest and be healed from all pain. ❤️ Rip to all the loved survivor contestants and their families.

Jenn Lyon died 10 days after the Reunion party.
Thank you, I need it. Diagnosed with 3yr terminal... in 2016. Had promised my wife, back when in 02, I'd never leave her alone. Beat one cancer, fighting another, plus the terminal/incurable and D2. Too many fronts to fight this war much longer. Any more setbacks and I'm finally gonna meet my Granda.
How are you doing now? I’m one year out from my chemo/radiation, it’s a tough journey. I pray you keep that promise to your wife.
@@kellymcdonell9687 bless you for the prayers. You are now, in my daily prayers that you never have to have chemo again!! My "chemo" is a $130K yr Rx. Was 9 pills 3x/day, now 3 pills each day... same 2800+ mg total. I have pulmonary fibrosis, progressive rotting of your lungs. The Rx slows it down, but no cure. Seeing transplant team end of the month. Say a prayer for that, I'm very close to exceeding their age reqs.

@@kellymcdonell9687 spent june, july,august doing a battery of tests, my wife drove me to most of them, had heart surgery in aug -- lge stent put in to cover two 70% blockages in the aorta they found, and had to wait 3 mos to make sure heart was ok -- they moved me up from 3 -- 5 liter per minute O, to 8-10 lpm O I am on Oxygen 24hrs/day, my wife, in addition to ALL the other things she does now that I can't- has to take care of the cat litter, as even wearing a surg-mask cat litter has bacteria that is -- well as ornery as cat shit ;-), and the immune blockers make a person extremely vulnerable to infection. She has been my Rock thru this, and I have never felt so loved in my life.
I hope we don't have another soon. Send all the love to these people and Sunday from mvgx who is currently fighting cancer right now

My favorites seasons are: Armazones , Vanuatu and that season which Aras won Exile island

I have been a loyal fan of Survivor since the very first, when Richard Hatch won. I have had too many favorite seasons to pick one. Many of my favorite players never made it because they're always too big of a threat. But some of my favorites did win, they include Rupert, Boston Rob, Joe, John Cochran and Parvarti. There many, many more who were amazing and made the show successful and kept us on edge. Can't wait for the next Survivor.

Here in 2024 and I will still say I’m deeply sorry to all the families of every member who passed away, but I must say. Keith Nale’s passing literally made me cry. I loved Keith and felt like he was a true genuine smart nice Man. I loved that guy like I knew him even tho I didn’t. Again I’m sad about everyone but Keith hurts deeply.
