Good video...I had issue with deer destroying my foodplots for few years. Then biologist told me what to do...since no ag around me just pines my food source was in high demand. He had me put two strands of wire around plot...then a third strand 3 feet further out and in between the first two for height. Then put flag tap every 20 yds....and then in between those I put tin foil balls hanging on wire with a tablespoon of peanut butter. Last thing for trifecta was milorganite on fields. Worked like a charm.....milorganite caught attention....and if that did not work the hope was they would smell peanut butter and lick their noses and touch it and get a jolt....and flagging helped them identify wire. Had soybeans waist high for two years....where before they would be cropped off at first leaves and die in field. Last couple years did not do wire as they clearcut around my property so lots of browse in those fields....so last year just did wire and milorganite...worked great other than drought. This year I only did the milorganite. I refreshed it every week for a month.....then I did it once two weeks later and then none at all. IT allowed beans (soy, clay, buchwheat, sunflower, lablab) to get up about knee high and then with heavy browsing stayed between 1-3 feet most of field until recently turned yellow. So while a lot of work the three strands of hot wire worked....it causes them depth perception problem where they cant determine how HIGH and FAR they need to jump to clear a 3D obstacle... occasionally will get a fawn feeding under lower wire and then go crazy...or one run out of woods into it if close to treeline...but after they figure it out you can see them giving it a wide berth walking around. Good luck.

Ron Herman very interesting! I like the idea of the third wire further out. It’s interesting that the 3D effect is trouble for them and works. Did you use batteries and a solar panel or do you have power close by for the electric fence?

Milorganite is actually micro-orbs that eat the waste then they dry them down and heat them to kill any bacteria. It is a wonderful natural nitrogen rich fertilizer. Not sure how well it repels deer I have never witnessed that but a great choice non the less for fertilizer!! Beans look good!!

How’d it work for repelling deer? I’m thinking about broadcasting some myself

It worked well for only about a week. Overall I think it didn’t work. If I ever try it again I’ll invest in an electric fence instead.

How much rain did you get in those 3 weeks

I don’t recall as it was a few years ago however it was not outside the normal. In south Mississippi that’s usually quite a bit of rain.

Forage beans should branch from where the deer browses on the plant producing two new growth stems from the point of browse, or at least that is how I understand it. Good luck

MrOmcif I hope you are right. If so I should be in good shape. We will see fairly soon. Thank you for your input

Should spray, then crimp, then seed. No till MAN!!! Eagle too expensive. Everyone says Milorganite works to repel deer, and they are right. It helps for about 5 days, maybe.
