I have about a handful of different edc flexing bit ratchets now, and when I saw this one a few weeks ago I knew it was going to be my new edc. I keep it stored in the slots of one of my pocket sleeve organizers with a bit holder connected to it for a longer handle. I always love when tools are compatible with double sided wiha bits.
I don’t have a Leatherman but I do have the 711L mini ratchet (with the driver on the end). I’ve coupled that with some Steinwhale double ended stubby bits (2cm long for two bits!). The mini ratchet, extension (that came with the Steinwhale bits) and 16 bits all fit inside the 711L tin!
I'll go offtopic for a second. As far as edc is concerned, would you consider making a short video about edc measuring tapes? Would that even be a relevant topic in your opinion?
Although do not use rachets with my Leatherman Tools, this is a VERY informative video on the topic, and if I ever did go to this system, I'd have a big head start on the way things work... Thanks Dom.
I got my pivoting ratchet on pre order. It's so good and paired it with my skeletool. Just need to figure out what bits to fit into my Leatherman pouch
Heads up, 711L is releasing a Leatherman style in-line ratchet this month per their FB and IG posts and comments thereto. Looks cool. There will be a way to store it on your keycain, it will fit the Surge, Wave, Signal, Skeletool bit holders, and there will be a bolt where you can use a pliers wrench as a t-handle. Price unknown.
@@maxlvledc They dropped the the first batch of forty the other day at a thirty percent discount off the list price of 49. I got one - should arrive in December. No key ring hub, just the ratchet. Looks like it accepts Leatherman double-sided bits and regular bits with a locking mechanism, but time will tell. Leo says the key ring hub is still in development. They are also working on a website for the product, and eventually it will be available at the Bezos store.
Love the content, but it seems in my case it's always for a collection. Looking at my leatherman and my tool bag with my Knipex tools, I always choose the tool bag :)
Great info as always, that idea to reverse the shaft 90° is great, personally i don't like the Leatherman bits i prefer normal size ones, that's why i carry adaptors! In my place i can't buy that ratchet, but i have the one from Victorinox which is pretty good.
I was actually thinking the same thjng about building the ratchet so that it’s turned 90 degrees to make it an in line driver! That would be huge reason to get a leatherman instead of a cheap knockoff!
Good question. I’ve been tempted many times to buy it from one of the eBay scalpers but I keep telling myself self that they will try-stock it at some point. It almost seems like LM likes loosing money lol
I wish another company made an inline mini ratchet driver like the leatherman ratchet. I only want a small pen sized driver like these but I'm not a fan of the 90 angle
Thoughts on the Leatherman brand pouch? I have a Surge and the XL case with bit kits but am thinking of adding one of these ratchets and some bit kits. Is it well made and is there a better option pouch with additional storage compartments?
I used to carry a Skeletool and was looking around for an upgrade but just couldn't justify the price of any of Leatherman's higher-end multitools. Your channel turned me on to the OT Multiforce and I have been loving it, so these particular accessories just aren't for me anymore. Does this company make things for full sized hex bit drivers?
Thanks for your thoughts on this. I’ve had one in my online cart but haven’t committed to it yet, was wondering how good the quality was for the price!
I had the 711l ratchet flex (the articulation head version) in my wish list since it was first shown here by you, but the pricing up here in Canada through Amazon was $115 CAN$ per so I passed. It’s now been a month plus and they seem to have disappeared, do you have any idea what happened or am I wrong and you guys are swimming in them down in the United States? P.S. leatherman says their glass breaker bit should only be used with the Skeletool rx since it is stronger and more in line when used according to them, I imagine turning these ratchet tools sideways would break the bit mount or at least loosen them quickly, IMO.
I noticed you're using one of those mini-carabiners you showed in one of your Shot Show vids. Are they available now, or were you only able to snag them because you were at Shot Show? The carabiner looks much better than a standard keyring.
Does anyone actually use this format of bit holder for screw driving? It is fine for sockets or other drive types that hold themselves in firmly without downward pressure seems to me a barely functional way of undoing a screw. inline ratchets like the leatherman are the only truly useful form factor and while the one you showed being twisted 90 degrees would make it more like that, your not going to be able to press on it with any real force so its back in the same boat as the leatherman. I would argue that the leatherman ratchet is strong enough to cope with the level of force appropriate for a multi tool. If you need enough force that it would break, take it off until the screw has cracked or get a better tool.
At this point isn’t it better just to carry a poplock ratcheting bit driver? Sabrecut do a flex head bit driver with extension bar. Both would be far more useful and practical than faffing about with an extension to a leatherman bit driver…
Why would you even use a miniratchet WITH the LM? Sure, you get more reach and torque, but I'd rather use the ratchet as a standalone tool. I don't think multitools are an ideal platform per se, but a compromise. I'll still get all the add ons, naturally. Just take my money!

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels on TH-cam! Thanks for all of the great info you are much appreciated
I'm so glad i couldn't get the original ratchet they made for the leatherman. Who am i kidding? I'd still use both!

2:49 a really small design of the Wera Zyklop heads would be nice 😂

id love to see a mini 4mm bit adapter for electronics work

holy shitballs!

Congratulations on hitting 200k !
Hard earned and well deserved 👍
I think the hole is for the Skeletool locking mechanism, although does seem to work nice with a keychain.
Thanks Dom! Excellent review
you can put the bit that doesn't fit in the 'wrong way' and then use the rachet backwards, with the smaller bit in the 'back side'
I love my 711L ! Very tempted to get the flex head one
more tools from 711L
so far I like the tools I got from them
seem to bee really good quality
now there's more on my to-buy list...
I’ve had the non flexible 711L without the handle hole for a long time.
Love the content, but it seems in my case it's always for a collection. Looking at my leatherman and my tool bag with my Knipex tools, I always choose the tool bag :)
I have the little one. I haved used it by itself more than once. Would love to be able to put it on my keychain. Not spending for the new one though.

I would like to see a true second source to the Leatherman ratchet.
Question…. Why doesn’t Leatherman have the Ratchet in stock? What is the problem?
Good question. I’ve been tempted many times to buy it from one of the eBay scalpers but I keep telling myself self that they will try-stock it at some point. It almost seems like LM likes loosing money lol
Now im curios if and how it would work with my centerdrive on my Gerber dual force.
Could you do a video on the Nextool multitool that works with the leatherman bits?
Great video as always...do you know if the wiha double side bits will fit in a big idea design bit bar 2
I wish another company made an inline mini ratchet driver like the leatherman ratchet. I only want a small pen sized driver like these but I'm not a fan of the 90 angle
I would like a potato/vegetable peeler and a fork.
Luv your vids !

Heres an idea? What about a LM bit adapter with a male and female ends that swivels so you insert it in the bit adapter and can rotate it🤔
I'm going to just reach for a real ratchet when I need one lol😂
Very nice
Nice Whia bit holder for the double sided bits. Where can I purchase one? I have the bits already but could not find a nice holder anywhere. Thanks!
is there something like this that you would recommend for multitools that have a quarter inch driver instead of the leatherman driver?

get the lolipop driver as well if you need something chonky
@@lesslighter Oh my...how did I never know this existed before?? Thanks for the tip!

Can i get a link to the Bits?

It looks like a Nite Ize locking S-biner.
locking S-biner from Nite-Ize. You get 5 of them with the bigfoot keyring
@pratikpramanik7782 Thanks for the info. I thought it was from Nite Ize, but I couldn't remember the Bigfoot name.
I want the 90 degree version. 711L make it!
They need to make the leatherman Crunch tool again. Such a successful vise grip tool and they quit making it. Alot of pissed off people!

Please stop I’m running out of money
😂😂😂😂
A 1/4" to micro adapter.
I prefer just carrying the Vim HBR3 - smaller, lighter & cheaper
for all you click buyers hold out .. prime day and black friday will be huge savings if we don’t boost the logarithm

Just add 1 to 2 inches on the ratchet and you have yourself a fully functional tool without the need of an expensive handle
Stop all these silly leatherman aftermarket doohickey addons.
If i need a bitdriver im reaching for my Chapmann tool co. Bitdriver
Do you accept gifts? I'm not affiliated with the company, but I think the PC Doodle Volty Switch deserves more love & would love to see you demo it.
Very nice
