Everyone’s giving props to Seth about keeping his composure over the Matt and trey Parker thing. However, I can’t believe that he held it together against Howard’s spectacular unpreparedness.
Howard really sucks. Got fame from the shock jock crap. That's all he had. Now he's Mr PC all of a sudden. He's also jealous of Podcasters. Still thinks you have to do broadcasting to be legit.
And THIS is what is bothering Seth… Brian’s voice is almost exactly Seth’s voice for a reason… Seth makes Brian like him for a reason and believes he is a writing hack that goes for the easy (like “Wish it Want it Do it”) laugh, and so when two of his most famous and respected contemporaries shit all over his style as going for the cheap laugh and detracting from plot he feels that knife hitting bone… but once they said it publicly he can’t change the show’s design even a little, or everyone else knows how seriously Seth took it…. Seth is probably his own worst critic, judging by the demeanor, and this hit him hard as it confirms a fear that he wasn’t as great as he wants to be (and no lie, his show is pretty awesome, just not perfect)… people have been talking shit about the cutaways for over a decade, but those people weren’t the closest thing to a contemporary creator who also happens to be a genius… Don’t let it bother you Seth, nobody expects perfection… and we don’t want to read about you dying a comedian’s death alone in a hotel room with an empty pill bottle and an empty booze bottle.
Yeah i think family guy is funny for 1 episode then it drives me crazy. Southpark is much better imo so i don't blame trey and matt for shitting on it when asked.
Only cuz their show was controversial first. Other than that it's a dead show on a channel with nothing but dead shows. It's only still on the air cuz comedy central hasn't found anything as iconic to replace it.
The truth about South Park and Family Guy is South Park actually goes beyond Family Guys limits such as politically incorrect stuff that pisses everybody off. Family Guy when it comes to trying to be funny they just go off being lazy with cutaways. Then they just when it comes to politics they act all politically correct. They don't bastardize both sides in fact they only bastard I'd those that don't agree with their politics. Trey Parker and Matt Stone openly admitted many years I'd have to say early 2000s that they are libertarians. While Seth MacFarlane is a Democrat. Now when it comes to the belief section Trey Parker and Matt Stone they're agnostic. Seth MacFarlane not surprisingly is an atheist
Yeah, that's Howard Stern's schtick. He did it in a RDJ interview once, trying to get Downey to rag on Disney/Marvel. He did that with a Jamie Foxx interview, trying to get him to talk shit about Quentin Tarantino. Dude's like that kid in high school, who wasn't part of any clique, but kept trying to be accepted by stirring shit up between the cliques. "Hey, know what I heard? I heard the nerds were gonna hack the scoreboard at the next football game..... Hey, know what I heard? I heard the jocks are gonna break all the computers in the computer lab!" That kind of shit.
Stern always does that what do you expect lol that's like putting chocolate cake in front of a fat kids face and saying "ok kiddo guard this" he's gonna shove it down.
@@gheller2261If you’re going to interview the creator, it might be useful to know a little bit about the show. It’s not like animated TV is less meaningful than live action lol
Ironically both sets of COMEDIANS are extremely mature in their interviews. When Trey and Matt talk about Family Guy they don't Hate it or the writers. They just don't respect how they try to entertain people.
Stern: ''I hate plenty of other radio hosts, i dont even know them, i just hate them.." Stern less than 1 min later: ''What's their problem, why do they care what you do?!''
Recon47 Howard Stern is a complete hack and a huge asswipe. All he does is stir in things he doesn’t know about and try to start fights amongst celebrities.
That's really the thing. To say one form of comedy is 'better' than the other is silly. Whatever makes people laugh is good comedy. To be fair, the crux of the Family Guy episodes of South Park was that the two shows were constantly compared to each other, and they rejected the comparison because they were so different. They did it by completely shitting on Family Guy's comedy style, more or less declaring it lazy, which...I dunno. Family Guy's humor has really waned on me over the years (even as a fan of absurdist comedy myself), but I don't think it's fair to dismiss it as lazy. People are still laughing, and that's all that matters.
To Seth’s credit he really did handle the entire “beef” like a proper sport. Him saying he’d be an absolutely hypocrite for having issue with them taking shots at his show was something I’m sure even Trey and Matt respected. It’s also respectable that throughout the entire interview not once did he try to discredit South Park’s acclaim and legacy(going as far to acknowledge it).
Because they’re snobs. They think they’re better and try to shrug it off, but Seth did admit that he would like South Park to fail. Matt and Trey are more forward and honest in how they feel.
I've NEVER watched family guy. It's the dad's face. He has a pair of testicles on his face!! Oh yeah, the comedy is...not. Fuck Seth and his dumb offering.
Matt and Trey have confirmed all of this. They do not like Seth or family guy what so ever and have talked shit about it many times. Why are people being such whiny bitches about this?
@@IWantToBelieve1 We know Trey and Matt don't like Family Guy. What we're annoyed about is that Stern is making it seem like that means they hate Seth as well and that Seth should hate them when that's not the case.

@@yungpm I do yes. If you’re going to be interviewing someone about their show you should at least watch a couple of episodes so you have some idea about what you’re going to be discussing.
@@madams989 it’s a reference to the South Park joke about Family Guy cutaway. Peter says that line specifically to intro the cutaways in the South Park episodes
Probably the worst interviewer etiquette I've ever heard. Just trying to get MacFarlane to shit on South Park at every question. Mad respect to him for staying civil
I was thinking about commenting the exact same thing. Parker and Stone seem really petty here, whilst Seth remains incredibly calm when his work is being unfairly attacked.
@@theadmiral3570 How is McFarlane's work being "unfairly attacked"? Family Guy has made a name for itself by being as tasteless as possible and making fun of everybody and everything. What makes it so special that nobody else can mock it? You sound like some mindless, triggered Family Guy fanboy. If Parker and Stone sound petty it's because Stern keeps outright saying that they are.
@@DickChimney I actually like both shows... But for very different reasons. "Family Guy" is definitely the worse show of the two in my opinion, but can be very funny at times (whilst lacking the great plotlines of "South Park"). The only reason I believe Trey Parker and Matt Stone are being petty is because they are attacking a fellow creator in the animated sitcom field - and not just with silly jibes but proper criticisms regarding Family Guy's writing staff. It's their show, so obviously they can do whatever they want with it - but it just seems a bit "self-loving" to me for them to shit on Family Guy as much as they do (whether their criticisms are valid or not - which in my opinion, they ARE actually quite, especially the whole cutaway thing) Definitely not a "mindless, triggered Family Guy fanboy" though, @Dick Chimney - although the image that paints in my head is admittedly quite amusing.
@@joey2765 Ted, American Dad, Ted 2, A million ways to die in the west, The Orville. Team America was horrible. No one remembers that crap and never will again. Everybody saying Seth did A great job with his composure while you're not wrong he also knows the second he says something bad about either of Matt or Trey there's going to be another 3 part episode of South Park absolutely destroying him lol
So what you’re saying is he should just thrash on them to show he doesn’t care? Respectful is respectful and I highly doubt it matters to him either way what they do or don’t make jokes about
@@evanbelisle8464 It really isn't. Watch the first 4 series and you'll immediately notice the difference. Especially on the first 3. It was much funnier.
Yeah exactly. Each radio show host is just pressuring Seth into saying more and more negative things, trying to get him to take a more negative stance. And the only thing it really sounds like he's truly upset about, is some pop media article Matt and Trey interviewed with, where they shit on Family Guy staff writers. I kinda don't believe most of what Seth is saying here, he seems too pressured by the radio station hosts. He's a fucking brilliant comedy writer, just like Trey and Matt. He already gets it. The only thing he thinks is a bit below the belt is the article. But these are all masters of their craft, you can tell there's some mutual respect there. But this is comedy, "showing respect" means "ripping you a new one".
@@generaldirection5123 It's just to get a good soundbite. In other words, to stir up some drama to keep the listeners entertained. But, this is old an old clip.
Matt and Trey care about the story with perfect comedic timing at every scene. Seth cares more about the comedy skits than the story itself... which makes South Park funnier because it makes sense. I enjoy both series, but Matt and Trey are on a higher level.
I guess but either show is weird to watch for the “story” South Park is better now because family guy just isn’t funny now but the first 5 seasons of family guy are as funny as anything South Park has done imo
@@MsHomofiel honestly, i watch family guy for the story. sorry to say but trying to make a storyline out of a joke can't always work (at least for me). it's just so complicated at times, while i can just chill watching the adventures of brian and stewie either going back in time, or travelling through multiverses. south park is great, but sometimes i get confused and just lost interest on the storyline sometimes. family guy can be unfunny at times (specially peter, he's not funny at all) but some characters have funny elements on their own while family guy most of the characters are quite funny to watch, it's just sometimes too chaotic to watch.
@@Rowanbossart agreed… I was a diehard fan of Family Guy for years, but Seth Macfarlane has seemed to “move on.” and it’s just not the same. The old episodes are alot better then the newer seasons.
@@MsHomofiel disagreed… Family Guy was funny for the most part in the older episodes. At least Family Guy is somewhat “intellectual” with their humor, unlike South Park crap
Trey and Matt are mastercrafters of story. Seth fills in half of his 24 minute time slot with cutaways, which does remove 10-12 minutes of storytelling. I enjoy both shows but I prefer the way Trey and Matt write their scripts.
Seth is the more talented voice actor and singer .plus it's been known he focuses more on the Orville and american dad now. American dad is loads better than South Park and family guy.
There's no way that the cutaways fill half the episodes lol. There is an average of about 7 cutaways per episode (I looked it up) and they are on average like 20 seconds (just an educated guess, even highballed it). That's less than 3 minutes of cutaway time per episode.
I feel like seth was trying to be respectful and diplomatic, but everyone wants to transform this in a super mean and nasty fight that seth doesn't want to fight
Vicente Ortega Rubilar I know, right? The host says "if I'm on your side, we should hate them?" And Seth is just trying to avoid talking about them and move on.
It's a rediculous argument to begin with, no one wins, arguing over an interview about the subject is doing the same thing one is arguing about isn't it?
@@BillehBobJoe it was. And he didn't like it because everyone was saying he does the same thing. He's the stand in for the South Park writers. It's them acknowledging that they're being a bit petty and ridiculous.
@manfly I think the issue is that Howard Stern is asking some pretty dumb questions most of this interview. If he doesn’t even know what a cutaway is than he clearly hasn’t done much research going into this interview. and wants to stir the pot when in reality, Seth while doesn’t appreciate south park for nagging on his writers, doesn’t really care at the end of the day how Matt Stone and Trey Parker want to run their show. Plus their show is mostly all satire
manfly OandA were a million times better than Stern his interviews are just stupid cause he knows like a a bit of knowledge of his guests and it shows. OandA was always more of a hangout which felt more genuine than an actual interview
@@corneygeez7346 Howard Stern (and radio in general) hasn't been relevant for the last decade. Especially outside the US. Not everyone under a certain age will know who he is or why he's important
Both shows are great, each one goes for something different. Family Guy is like the "one-liner stand up comedy" of shows, and South Park focuses more on the story. Both are hard to write (one you have to stay dedicated to a story line and the other you have to continuously come up with transitions and jokes you've never made before and make them work). It really only, and I mean only comes down to viewer preference. Trey, Matt, and Seth are all incredible creators. There, needed to be said
I’ve never really been a huge fan of Seth but he handled this interview really well & answered each question very maturely & respectfully. The interviewers & others in the room were the real garbage. They really were just trying to get Seth to say something against them but he maintained his composure really well.
South Park is so fucking stupid. They jokes are ass. They not even funny. The jokes are for 11 years old. But Family Guy joke is mostly for adults. Family Guy is not my favorite show but I watch both Family Guy and South Park and I think South Park needs materials because they use the same jokes they use before in each episodes and it gets old that why they are losing ratings
James Smith, I didn’t like South Park until the newer seasons, and I liked Family Guy in the older seasons, but I have seen a comedy series that’s better than both South Park and Family Guy called God, The Devil, & Bob.
The thing is, even though Trey and Matt don't like Family Guy, they didn't have anything bad to say about the fans of the show in their Cartoon Wars episodes. Hell, Cartman was the villain of that story and he was hellbent on getting Family Guy pulled off the air, while Kyle, the hero, liked Family Guy and wanted to stop Cartman. They even lobbed criticisms at themselves in that two-parter, with characters saying stuff like, "At least Family Guy doesn't get up its own ass with messages and morals."
So stick to South Park then. I mean, Seinfeld had completely different and unrelated shows each given week, Curb your enthusiasm had more of a story line built in for their seasons. There's comedy for everyone and Family Guy has brilliant moments and South Park is very funny.
@@ren2871 I did not say that it's not funny, famliy guy has some real funny moments just the cutoffs are a little to over used. Who doesn't love Stewie.

He doesn’t want to start a war with them because he doesn’t like them either. What he’s doing is called being polite unlike the South Park creators. @@EddieMachetti LOL, a respectful guy that makes fun of people's religion whenever possible. He doesn't have the creativity (or the balls) to make fun of South Park, so he does this passive aggressive interview looking for sympathy.
By making fun of family guy, they made people laugh. Yet they’re saying Trey and Matt can’t pick on Seth because he gets laughs in a different way. Yet they have an issue with how Trey and Matt got laughs?? What sets Trey and Matt apart from Seth is that they can actually get a serious message across through their comedy. I’m not going to sit here and say that family guy is the worst thing ever, but when they try to do something serious it’s usually pretty bad. 9/10 Trey and Matt knock the serious messages out of the park
Interesting. I’m still relatively new to South Park, but I feel like sometimes a good message gets lost in the mean spirited comedy. Don’t get me wrong, I love mean spirited comedy but they take everything so far that it’s harder for me to get any message between the shock value jokes. I think it’s a very funny show and I like it, but to me, Family Guy has more heart. They’ve had some really great episodes. If I had to choose, I’d probably go Family Guy. Do you recommend any South Park episodes that could change my mind? Like I said, I’m still fairly new.
Jamie Venezia South Park has some genuine really touching moments and amazing messages. Family guy has its moments, usually with Brian and stewie, but it also has really messed up episodes like the one where Brian told meg she was brave and mature for staying in an abusive relationship. And it was meant to be heartfelt. When South Park makes fun of something they hold nothing back. It’s usually pretty cruel, but it’s also rooted in accuracy. But when they want to get a message across it’s usually told in an unconventional way that ends up being very effective I personally really enjoyed season 19’s commentary on PC culture, there an episode called the hobbit about body issues, Raisins is about dealing with a breakup, You’re getting older and the episode after are about depression and growing up. South Park talks about very relevant issues. Each episode is only made in 6 days and they don’t start it until the previous one has aired. They go after people pretty hard sometimes, but they also go after everybody which to me makes the show less biased than even stuff like the news. I’ll never argue with someone else about what show they should like over another, because everyone likes what they like and that’s why variety exists. I personally just feel like South Park has always had more of a maturity to it (in between all the gross and shock humor of course 😂)
To be fair, Seth said he thought the episodes ripping on family guy were great. Howard is just over stressing the negatives. Matt and trey also said that the family guy staff had amazing potential and they felt it was wasted on humor without plot.
So narrow-minded. Interviewers mostly ask questions on behalf of the audience, it ain’t just about their own personal interest. Otherwise they may aswell just meet up for a chat and not broadcast it.
That's not what I think it is. It sounds like he's saying: "Sorry, the cutaways!? You think that the only thing they have a problem with is the cutaways!?" It sounds like Seth is ignoring every criticism that South Park lobbed at his show by boiling it down to "They just hate the cutaways. They're the petty ones."
I'll be honest, the only ones who come out of this looking bad are Stern and his people. They were desperately trying to start trouble, and MacFarlane wouldn't stoop. Good for him. Stern and Robyn invited MacFarlane to bash Trey and Matt 15 different ways, and he kept deflecting. I can understand a competitive rivalry between Family Guy and South Park, but Stern and Robyn came off like obnoxious middle schoolers just looking to start a fight to amuse themselves. Pretty lame.
That's what Stern and Robyn have always been. They're simple personalities who are just out to amuse themselves. Though there's not too much inherently wrong with that in the entertainment industry.
That’s not very accurate. I remember hearing the show live and Stern and Robin literally had no clue who Seth was. In fact, the only reason he came on the show was because a staffer (Richard) begged and won a staff contest thereby allowing the booking of McFarlane. Like any guest they get notes and go off that, no conspiracy...
KevCo174 "Are you secretly happy when they do poorly?" "Does he bitchslap you?" "What is it that they resent about you?" "But Trey and Matt are dickheads and in other words if we are on your team then we really don't like them. They're shitheads." That whole interview was 100% ridiculous and intended to be inflammatory. Seth knew better than to play into Stern's bullshit. There is at least a level of respect between all these parties, but Stern wants to make the conflict seem far bigger than it is because it makes for good ratings. He is the originator of the TMZ style of manufacturing drama and dischord. What a hack of a DJ and terrible human being. Good for Seth for not falling for that shit.
@@m0zric well family guy could easily be written by a 5th grader. SP is mostly based on real human behavior and belief systems. Seth is a classy, articulate, and intelligent. Talented singer, actor, writer and does multiple voices/accents. Both shows however aren’t exactly genius and are simply good fun. To each their own. The difference is that Seth knows Family Guy is dumb because that’s the point. A lot of people appreciate how humble Seth is despite his talents and success. Am I in love with Seth MacFarlane? Shit.
South park = Some episodes funnier than others (Some so funny that you almost die laughing) meanwhile always delivering some kind of message. Family guy = Hey Brian, remember that time where i turned into a pizza ?
It's not that easy, there has to be an actual joke in there. Like "Remember that time when you got drunk off the communal wine at church?" Then we cut to Peter who drinks the wine and says "Is this really the blood of Christ? Man, that guy must've been wasted 24 hours a day"
Pretty sure Trey and Matt don't hate Seth or even Family Guy. In the Cartoon Wars Two-Parter, they didn't bash it totally one-sidedly. There was a character who admitted to liking Family Guy because it was straight comedy and didn't try to preach all the time (which was an obvious jab at themselves). Hell, the whole Muhammad plot was poking fun at their own show's gall for religious insensitivity, and they merely projected that onto Family Guy for story's sake. Seth is amazing and talented. I respect the hell out of him. It's understandable that he would be ticked off about his writers being made fun of. But that's just what Trey and Matt do. They don't hold back. I'm sure Seth understands that deep down. The only shameful people are Howard Stern and his crew. What a load of a-holes.
@kr tu But Matt & Trey only said that the writers weren't working hard enough compared to their potential. They said the Family Guy writers have talent but they just don't use their full potential when crafting together an episode

@Fred the Fish the Seth McFarland stan’s can calm down. “How are they better?” How do you qualify better? Because from how I see the scoreboard they have one of if not THE most successful broadway plays ever, an Oscar nomination, directed actual good movies, have a longer running more respected show, and are considered gods by ALL of their peers. Which of those things does SM have over them? I really like Seth, love his voice & brain. But quit capping he’s not in their stratosphere
Love both shows for what they are. Trey and Matt are easily more creative/come up with wittier jokes, but Seth still produces quality comedic content. Just depends on what you feel like watching.
Im actually a fan of both family guy and south park but in my honest opinion south park is Wayyyyyyy better. its hilarious and witty and even after all these years its still fresh. they never got stale and over did anything on that show, they didn't find one funny bit and just rinse wash repeat like alot of other shows. those guys are truly comedic genius' i feel.
A lot of people would agree. For starters, despite all the side stories that happen in South Park, it all ties together in the end. But we all know those family guy cut scenes that distracts you from the whole premise of the episode. Family guy is definitely heavily integrated into pop culture of the late 90s and early to even late 2000s. Especially the early 2000s, you would see the commercial for the new family guy season dvds and all the family guy merch
@@mhm6 I agree with both but there is a lot of old 70-90 references in FG . Also there is references related to the UK. People that say they get distracted by the cut always don’t really understand the humour and parody. With that being said nothing makes me roll out laughing like South Park
Seth is a genius too. He's not as comedically genuis as Matt stone & trey parker, but he's a superior animator and voice actor. They probably are on par musically.
Superior animator? You realise Seth doesn't actually animate the show, South Park is stylised the way it is because they had no budget and then kept the style, also unsure of the better voice actor claim, he's better at impressions and probably has a wider range though, either way Seth, Trey and Matt have different comedic voices and the shows have different intentions so comparing them isn't really the best idea
Matt and Trey are just geniuses. I think Seth knows it. Hit songs, movies, a show, and a Broadway play.. A fucking Broadway play.. They're on a different level. Seth isnt talemtless, it's just he can't compete. And I'm really loyal. I've been watching them my whole life.
Seth has done several movies, more successful than there's, and he does have classical musical talent over them (but not the Broadway bonafides, which I'm sure he would love), as well as many multiple shows. The problem these days is that he has delegated even Family Guy to new writers and showrunners and South Park has been pretty firmly controlled by Trey Parker (and to a lesser extent, Matt Stone).
@@TimThomason ok but family guy is so unfunny compared to South Park, the cut away gags make up like 90% of the episodes and they usually aren’t that funny or clever, South Park is consistently funny while still remaining relevant to current events and even critiquing then which is a difficult thing to do without coming off as corny, but South Park succeeds at it
Family Guy hasn’t been good for years, neither has The Simpson’s. South Park continues to be relevant and funny. I do still love the older Family Guy seasons though.
South Park has done more for comedy than anyone is willing to admit. Without Matt and Trey, there would not be the freedom of expression we have now. These guys set precedent for freedom of speech simply from fighting so many bloody law suits. Seth has nothing on them. Absolutely nothing 😂
Both are great shows but I’ve gotta give Seth credit the newer family guy seasons have actually been great and easier to watch than the earliest seasons.
I agree with Artie. South Park, Family Guy and American Dad are my favorite animated shows. Matt/Trey and Seth have different humor styles and their shows are very different but to me it's all good I laugh no matter what
Matt and Trey literally make the point in the two parter that people enjoy Family Guy for what it is, and that's okay. They don't hate Family Guy, they just think it's garbage comedy that they wouldn't watch, and South Park shits on EVERYTHING! Even things that Trey and Matt LOVE!!
Exactly. This whole interview comes across as Howard Stern encouraging Seth MacFarlane to take this WAY more personally than it ever was, and Seth seems to be very easily pushed in that direction. I've heard that "feuds" are very profitable. Fortunately, Matt ad Trey don't appear to be interested. I guess their various projects are fulfilling enough for them :-)
I am team South Park all the way. I used to like Family Guy and I wouldn't say the laughs cheap, but I happen to think the cut aways are the better part of Family Guy. They are two different brands of humor. You have to admit that Seth MacFarlane is a force to be reckoned with just by the sheer output he is capable of. It really is Apples to Oranges with the two shows.
yeah but family guy also has a lot more episodes and stricter guidelines. and there are family guy moments that are on par with the best of south park like the Disney parody plus seth is a way stronger voice talent just by the amount of unique voices.
how many successful broadway shows has seth created? video games? and then he has that one family guy movie that they love to split up into episodes. there is no contest here.
MacFarlane hasn't been involved in the writing of Family Guy for 20 years. He hasn't been involved in American Dad for at least 10. He was never really involved in The Cleveland Show. Go look at how many writing credits he has across all of his shows. He's an ideas and concepts man. I don't particularly care about any of the shows in this feud but from what I understand, Matt and Trey do a lot more to earn their paycheck.
@WackyD bad comparison. So trey and matt have the book of mormon great. They have one show, at one point seth had 3 shows out of 4 in foxs animation primetime. He made a family guy movie to equal out the south park movie. Then seth has ted, ted 2, million ways to die in the west as a writer, actor, and director. Did voice acting in hell boy 2. Has the orville, helps seth green with a lot of robot chicken, hosted the oscars, several roasts, cosmos, and made 3 family guy video games. Trey and matt have south park, basektball, team america:world police, and 8 video games, book of mormon play. I love all 3 of them but while I enjoy south park more, and trey and matts comedy more seth is definitely the one with a wider range and puts out the most production
I think a big difference here is that Seth is actually a fan of their work. Matt and Trey just think Seth and his staff are lazy when it comes to the writing. Family Guy has a huge staff of writers and Trey pretty much writes everything for South Park himself.
The thing about the cutaways is its a crutch. Its like the laughing track in sitcoms to help the plot be funny. Some of the best episodes of family dont need cutaways. Road to (barely use any), the ones that were meant to become movies, they dont rely as much on it.

Matt and Trey mentioned in one interview that they think Seth and the FG writers are smart and can do so much better... thats what they want... for Family Guy to write better episodes.

Way better here than when he was on Bill Maher
And THIS is what is bothering Seth… Brian’s voice is almost exactly Seth’s voice for a reason… Seth makes Brian like him for a reason and believes he is a writing hack that goes for the easy (like “Wish it Want it Do it”) laugh, and so when two of his most famous and respected contemporaries shit all over his style as going for the cheap laugh and detracting from plot he feels that knife hitting bone… but once they said it publicly he can’t change the show’s design even a little, or everyone else knows how seriously Seth took it….
Seth is probably his own worst critic, judging by the demeanor, and this hit him hard as it confirms a fear that he wasn’t as great as he wants to be (and no lie, his show is pretty awesome, just not perfect)… people have been talking shit about the cutaways for over a decade, but those people weren’t the closest thing to a contemporary creator who also happens to be a genius…

I love both shows. Different kind of comedy entirely 💯
Exactly

They even lobbed criticisms at themselves in that two-parter, with characters saying stuff like, "At least Family Guy doesn't get up its own ass with messages and morals."
I agree with Matt and Trey family guy is one giant running joke. It's always "you remember that one time" thats my issue with it.

Bro went from brian to stewie in the whole interview 😂
But when they want to get a message across it’s usually told in an unconventional way that ends up being very effective
I personally really enjoyed season 19’s commentary on PC culture, there an episode called the hobbit about body issues, Raisins is about dealing with a breakup, You’re getting older and the episode after are about depression and growing up.
Get it? "PARK" huh? Haha
It’s not about South Park being deep it’s about being funny who tf cares about which cartoon Is deeper
“What do you mean by cutaway?” Has Howard never seen Family Guy in his life?

So narrow-minded. Interviewers mostly ask questions on behalf of the audience, it ain’t just about their own personal interest. Otherwise they may aswell just meet up for a chat and not broadcast it.
That's not what I think it is. It sounds like he's saying: "Sorry, the cutaways!? You think that the only thing they have a problem with is the cutaways!?"
It sounds like Seth is ignoring every criticism that South Park lobbed at his show by boiling it down to "They just hate the cutaways. They're the petty ones."
Howard always tries to side with the interviewee, to get them to spill more beans. He’s one crafty Jew

It really is Apples to Oranges with the two shows.

how many successful broadway shows has seth created? video games? and then he has that one family guy movie that they love to split up into episodes. there is no contest here.
Family guy is quit witted fast paced gags n 1 liners ...south park os satirical...i prefer south park because it's so deep and jokes work on multiple levels and you are more likely to learn something or think deeper but both shows are funny. And comedy is subjective.
ThaGodWeCreate : true, I like that more about South Park too. As far as macfarlane, American dad is my favorite of his shows.
I’m sorry but do you watch South Park. The constant hate on the Jews, they even say the N word quite a bit. How bout an entire episode on the election. Clearly you don’t watch it
"you can laugh at Johnny Knoxville and Woody Allen"
That pretty much sums it up
But does it really?
yup
SignorValmanoVEVO Was scrolling through the comments & as soon as yours comes up Seth legit says it. Haa.
pcbgatlas brilliant point
He never pointed out which one was which. Family Guy humor isn't genius or next-level but South Park humor isn't nearly as transcendent as some people like to say.
Love them both
But I feel South Park has more intellectual humor
Girlslovechocolate lmfao really? Stfu 😂
Dax an it's true. Family guy is just random jokes that don't make sense with the plot
South Park tackles modern problems and pop culture references and demonstrates that most of today’s problems could be solved if everyone got their head out of their asses.
Yes, a talking Christmas poop is very intellectual.
Girlslovechocolate South Park is for dumb people who think they’re intelligent but I love it regardless. Same goes for Rick and Morty
