    Excellent video , very well explained

    Brilliant video. I don’t think anyone could explain the valve any better than that, and with a sense of humour at the same time. You should be on the BBC although they would probably ruin the whole thing! Many thanks.

    This is a great video; clear explanation, awesome camera closeup and cool British sense of humor. Thanks.

    No other video has shown the micro switch as clearly as yours. Or explained the process so well. Thanks mate. My parents boiler is staying on, and it seems the micro switch is the culprit. Well at least I hope that's what it is and not the valve. Though I can't see how a valve can realistically go wrong.

    Can you cut a lime scale reducer in half as I see plenty on heating systems and the isolation valve under the boiler is scaled up so what do they do what’s inside them.

    Great video as always, did replace the motorised part some years ago, more than likely the valve on your explanation subject to a test.

    useful. i was going to jerry rig one as a remote control unit for washing machine water valve. need a electric method of shutting off the water in case of emergency. now i understand how it works! Thanks

    Love the video. Good work. It was kinda tricky to keep track of the direction of flow. So the springtention is against the flow. But its its wired correctly then no pump can run against it. Spot on.

    Great Video.
    One question, I’ve seen on some 2-port values, if you push the leaver from Auto and Latch to Man, then the Microswitch will be switched (eg Danfoss), on others eg Honeywell, with the lever position to Man, they do not reach the Microswitch and so will not Call for Heat to the boiler.
    Is that by design or just some individual dodgy Honeywell 2 Port Motorised valves ? Or perhaps is there are different variations of the Valves with slightly different operational specs for the Manual override switching for different use cases ?

      I came here to ask the same question! I have two Honeywell valves that were fitted in our house about 25 years ago a and one has the microswitch operate when manually latched open and the other doesn't. There is no sign of excessive wear in either of them. I have not (yet) crawled into the loft to check what the ones up their do but I have a non-Honeywell spare head and that one does not operate the microswitch when manually open (and its miles off when you look inside). My guess is that it should operate as, in the case of the CH control valve on our setup the boiler won't come on unless the microswitch operates so failure to operate would rather negate the point of having manual operation.

      I’ve found that more often than not the manual lock on doesn’t operate the micro switch on Honeywell units - which is well worth knowing !!

    Most in-depth explanation ever, mine just gone, made a loud clicking noise, How long can I leave it on manual fore as it’s bloody cold otherwise in the house.

    Just a quick question please guys I have a 3-way directional valve when I turn the heating on only I'm also receiving hot water too. When I've opened up the silver directional valve cover I can visually see the mechanism moving for the heating, but if I was to turn the heating off and then turn the water on the valve doesn't move at all.
    Does this indicate a faulty 3-way directional valve & not the plumbing valve itself ?

    Have thought for a while to swap my Y plan to an S plan as the 3 port valve is playing up. I have the 2 port valves so no problem there. My question concerns the need to remove the 3 port valve a fit a copper T piece, mine is done in 28mm. I am wondering could I not leave the body of the 3 port valve in situ, after removing the motor and the rubber ball from inside to save disturbing the pipework, especially that going to the HW cylinder. The empty body would then just be acting as a T piece. Having just seen you cut a 2 port in half it looks to my mind just like a straight coupler, obviously not now it is in 2 bits.

    I need to keep my valve open. How do I do that and stop my system from closing the valve?

  • @stephenpearce3880
    @stephenpearce3880 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good video, however if the 240v is applied to the motor and the valve then rotates to the open position. How is the valve kept opne? because is the power is removed from the motor then the pring with return it to closed and if the power is left on to the motor won;t it burn out or at least just waste electricty being energised for hours?

    • @simonfitter8239
      @simonfitter8239 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. The motor stops turning but remains powered and keeps applying torque to the gears that move the vale. It does this all the time the valve is selected to open.

    Brilliant. I had issue when in winter I wanst getting heating on downstairs but upstairs was fine. Then engineer came n changed heating 2port zone valve, still no heating downstairs then flushed whole system, still no heating downstairs then changed the thermostat n it's main signal box. Slowly started getting heating everywhere. But now I'm getting heating on when I turn water on and getting water on when I turn heating on. I can't get anyone to sort this. As it was winter I never turned water on as I was getting boiling water with heating. But now its summer when I turn water on I'm getting heating and I just need both water and heating to work independently. Last year thermostat for timer has also been replaced as thot that may b the issue. Some one pls pls help and advice me. Ppl are saying the 2port zone valve replaced is faulty?
