It bothers me that the girl said her head was throbbing but it's worth it. Too many people have this beauty is pain attitude about braids/cornrows. I want more stylists to realize that the way to get a secure braid is not by pulling the hair as tight as possible. You do it by picking up very small sections of hair. Braids should never be painful. That pain is a signal that it's too damn tight but all too often clients and stylists ignore this and then wonder why people's hair is thinning over time or they have traction alopecia. But the practice of braiding tight is widely regarded as the only way to do braids in the black community. Even tho people don't have edges or their hair used to be hella thick and now it's finer than a baby's. I'm just like ugh! Wake up!! I literally know someone this happened to. I explained to her that her braids were always too tight and she kept insisting she thought it was because she switched hair products. No Boo, all that tension on your poor little hair follicles is starting to take its toll. 😑 But don't mind me lol I'm just ranting.
Hope Wiley I had an adopted auntie (who was born in Jamaica) who would braid my poor little hair so tight all the time. Im white with thick ringlety hair and woooo did it hurt sometimes. Im also extremely tender-headed though.
I can’t stand long hair, and my hair is already thick. I thought to myself, “I’d get the opposite of a weave, what would the opposite of a weave be?” And then I realized, “a haircut.”
In all seriousness you can ask them to "thin it out" with thinning shears. In high school a friend was self concious because she thought her hair was too thick and when braiding it at night (because she kept it pretty long) she told us she felt she had 2 bricks on the sides of her head. My mom used thinning shears on her a week later and she loved it because she always wanted "daintier" ponytails/braids, etc.
Weaves are universal, yes, to only Black women. No other race of women literally sew in another race of women's hair onto their heads and walk around with it for several weeks and even months, often without even washing it until they next visit the hair salon. This unfortunate, self-hating fuckery is exclusive to Black women.
She is. Seeing her hairstyle makes me want to go back to loose curls soon. Planning on changing mine to turquoise turquoise but I think I'll stick with red for a bit longer.

I love how the comments section is so triggered. Half is outraged over the title having 'White' in it, the other half are proclaiming 'Lots of white girls get weaves! ITS A NORMAL THING FOR THEM." Ya'll. Chill. It ain't that serious.
They are specifically talking about the three girls in the video never having weave/extensions. No one ever said white girls don't Get hair extensions/ weave done. most of you are just finding anything to complain about.
+Stay in Your lane How does calling someone pretty make them gay. If you're afraid to be called gay or afraid to acknowledge someone's good looks, you're probably not comfortable with your sexuality 😕😕

+knowledgeiskey the fuck lol what about us natural, it takes time and money to have beautiful curly REAL hair, but we're nasty broke bitches because we're black lol? You're probably another ignorant black male 😂
Lee Flemister extension yes, weaves only if for some reason they going bald. Why would white women want to wear weaves? Oh I have beautiful long blonde hair! What can I do. I know I wear a weave as a protective style. Hahaha hilarious.
Javier Cooper Well I can assure you that most Caucasian celebrities get weaves to make their hair appear fuller, nothing wrong with that. People are aloud to do whatever they want. It's their life.
mugshot goals I think that if those young girls want to ruin their hair and come to a point where they are practically forced to wear wigs/weave, or cut all their hair off and start over, than that's their prerogative.
+Latoi Kelly No.... No it is not. Especially not for "all ages". The sudden tension, and weight of it, will almost inevitably cause alopecia, over time. If it doesn't, then you're an exception. Not the rule.
She's a really good stylist. She was personable and focused and made sure to tell them when it may get uncomfortable. I wish my past hair stylist were more like her
If you have a shit ton of hair, you don't NEED a weave. It really only comes in handy to avoid heat damage... and the hassle of styling your hair for the girls with curls
class of 2016 :D Well this is my opinion. I have a lot of hair, but weaves help me avoid styling my 3c hair. I just feel like the girls in this video with long hair don't have much need for weave...
CupcakeLove You'll be surprised there are white women getting lace units or wigs because they don't like the way their hair look or are too busy/lazy to style their own. The world is so focused on black women and their hair; if they only knew. Hairstylists can write books.
Learning to love what you have, and yourself first, is such a good message. The hairstylist is dope. Love her chilled demeanor and the results looked great.
Why do people call you "tenderheaded" like...you're literally pulling my hair as tight as you can....there would be something wrong with me if I DIDN'T find it painful..
well some people have extremely sensitive scalps. like its ridiculous sometimes so they'll call you tenderheaded. after a while tho you get so used to it. I used to fall asleep when my mama braided my hair and she would literally dig her knuckles into my head so hard I couldn't think straight😂
+AfroDollBabe I can vouch and say every time I get my hair braided it doesn't hurt at all. Like me and my friend will get our hair done by the same person and she will say it was painful, but for me its painless. So I guess it depends on how much you can handle pain.
Lol hairdressers' stories are the best. When ever I go to the salon to get my hair done I'm not like "time for a hair do!" I walk in like "STORY TIIIIIIME!!!😀"
And I hear extensions have been in the white community for quite a few generations. Idk how true it is, but someone told me that white women were wearing extensions before black women were
Only women who could afford it. I got perms to pump up my straight thin hair as a kid. I've had full cornrows but no weave or extensions ever. I would love to try box braids to help my hair grow, but feel like a fake wearing fake hair. Plus most synthetics are made from chinese drain hair and plastic anyway.
Definitely all famous people do, but also white girls in general also wear extensions. I'm not sure if that counts as weave necessarily, but still. I'd say the majority of white girls that I know wear or have worn clip-in extensions at some point, myself included (atm I'm wearing something called a hair halo lol). Weird that people stereotype black women only as wearing weaves, wanting to change up your hair is pretty universal
Peyton Avery I was thinking that ! like I wonder if she did all the girls one after another or if she did each girl a different day hahah because damn that's a lot of effort
Did is what we do.. Those who did it are use to it.. We can do it back to back.. Our sensitivity to touch is a bit stronger... as we are use to handling strong tasks when it comes to our hair..lol

“I feel like you gotta love what you have first” 😍😍😍can you be my mom🥺👉👈
"is it gonna hurt?" "probably" . if that isn't me
The results: Almost identical to their natural hair, totally worthless. I would've picked a fantasy color and really long extensions lol
Also learn how to spell 💕
lol you got some serious issues dude. Get yourself some help.
Kadeja Mccutchin you’re so illiterate it’s hilarious
Jesus Christ. Could you fill out any more shitty stereotypes Kadeja? I'd say don't breed, but it looks like that ship has sailed. Your poor kid...
The goal is for it to look natural.

Forest Lover nobody needs weave I’m black but i love my natural hair and weave
Roasting Mmmm..🤔. No🥴.
I can hear my grandma now: "A good hair dresser always gives their clients gossip, advice, a life lesson, and great hair."
that's cute!
I swear that one of the girls needs some fake hair for her eyebrows.
bruhh😂😂😂
that first white girl
Why you do that bruh 😂😂😂
She looks unique
God shut the fuck up
I'm slightly offended that we're pretending like white women don't get weaves and extensions ALL the time... Moving on!
Lee Flemister extension yes, weaves only if for some reason they going bald. Why would white women want to wear weaves? Oh I have beautiful long blonde hair! What can I do. I know I wear a weave as a protective style. Hahaha hilarious.
Lee Flemister !!!!
Of course you’re offended
Lee Flemister “I’m slightly offended...” yeah, no surprise there. 😂
Javier Cooper Well I can assure you that most Caucasian celebrities get weaves to make their hair appear fuller, nothing wrong with that. People are aloud to do whatever they want. It's their life.
This is so beautiful.
I love it when we embrace white people.
We are all one human race♥️
Nice messages at the end.
This is very lovely both on black and white
When you thought this was buzz feed
Regan Melton omg same
Regan Melton wait this isnt buzzfeed? omg i was watching it all the way to the end and then saw your comment.
Regan Melton I read your comment looked up and my mouth dropped
Regan Melton
it's black feed
Regan Melton i know...I thought too that it's a l buzz feed video but the girls are not from buzz feed
I'm glad she put out there that she does NOT think teenagers should get them... I agree!
Jessica B. I've been getting weave since I was like 5
Jessica B. Yall old lady's just mad😂
mugshot goals
I think that if those young girls want to ruin their hair and come to a point where they are practically forced to wear wigs/weave, or cut all their hair off and start over, than that's their prerogative.
Weaves protect natural hair so it can grow and not break. It's less to take care of, so it's a good option for all ages. It means you love your hair.
+Latoi Kelly No.... No it is not. Especially not for "all ages". The sudden tension, and weight of it, will almost inevitably cause alopecia, over time. If it doesn't, then you're an exception. Not the rule.
I love to see these beautiful women try something new from our beautiful culture.
I like when she said that teenage shouldn't get them because you should learn to love what you have first. that was great
Yeah we should all learn from her tbh
I thought this was a BuzzFeed video...
Me too!
SAME
+ahlana ferguson well ppl copying
Buzzfeed would never do something this controversial lol
Same omg
She's a really good stylist. She was personable and focused and made sure to tell them when it may get uncomfortable. I wish my past hair stylist were more like her
3:53 “I LOVE my weave. This is great!” 😂
If you have a shit ton of hair, you don't NEED a weave. It really only comes in handy to avoid heat damage... and the hassle of styling your hair for the girls with curls
CupcakeLove Eh, sometimes girls want something different.
not true! I have alot of hair but i wear weave because i dont feel like doing my hair. Nicki Minaj has a lot of hair and she wear weave and wigs
class of 2016 :D Well this is my opinion. I have a lot of hair, but weaves help me avoid styling my 3c hair. I just feel like the girls in this video with long hair don't have much need for weave...
CupcakeLove and the for the ones who have A lot of hair! Im suppose to get my hair did today for school tomorrow thank god!!
CupcakeLove You'll be surprised there are white women getting lace units or wigs because they don't like the way their hair look or are too busy/lazy to style their own. The world is so focused on black women and their hair; if they only knew. Hairstylists can write books.
1:29 I'm dyingggg😂😂 her reaction
Genessee Cooper yes , her face killed me ! 😂😂😂💀
Learning to love what you have, and yourself first, is such a good message. The hairstylist is dope. Love her chilled demeanor and the results looked great.
“Weaves” “A weave” omg it’s just “Weave” 😭😭
"yeah let me get weave"
Kingdom Come from laughter
@Kingdom Come Are you okay....?
Kingdom Come sometimes but rarely you laugh so hard you cry that’s not being bipolar tho only if your coco crazy like my aunt
@Kingdom Come Who hurt you? Do you need a hug?
I am black and I never wore a wig /weave or extensions lol
I have very long curly /wavy hair lol
bandlupos are you full black?
You can be full black with long curly hair
Julia vO uhm i know that i was asking because of her curl pattern girl
Cheyenne Lorusso it looked like you didn't and you just wanted to hear that she was mixed
Julia vO naw not really i was literally just asking girl calm down
"Just a little bit hurty." Hurty she said😂😂😂

"My left eye is watering" LMAO BITCH TELL ME ABOUT IT 💀💀
That one girl lowkey offensive af 😂🤦🏾♀️
Deandra... Anyone else think of MPGiS??? 👀
YES
+Aletheias YEEESSS
omg..yesss 😺
+Aletheias Yes
That's my name 😳
Why do people call you "tenderheaded" like...you're literally pulling my hair as tight as you can....there would be something wrong with me if I DIDN'T find it painful..
No, not really, you just don't feel it after so many times...
if you massage your scalp more aggressively in the shower your head should become less sensitive
well some people have extremely sensitive scalps. like its ridiculous sometimes so they'll call you tenderheaded. after a while tho you get so used to it. I used to fall asleep when my mama braided my hair and she would literally dig her knuckles into my head so hard I couldn't think straight😂
+Nilana River yea that true but massaging tour scalp can definitely help because it makes your scalp more flexible
When ever I go to the salon to get my hair done I'm not like "time for a hair do!" I walk in like "STORY TIIIIIIME!!!😀"
lol I love your way of looking at it 😂😁
When she said her eye was watering I felt that 💀
90 % of Hollywood actresses wear weaves Gtfoh. Why do people front? Lol
And I hear extensions have been in the white community for quite a few generations. Idk how true it is, but someone told me that white women were wearing extensions before black women were
Jamia Joy Johnson n they were
Are most white women Hollywood Actresses though?
Weird that people stereotype black women only as wearing weaves, wanting to change up your hair is pretty universal
does her fingers not hurt after all of it?
Peyton Avery your fingers do hurt after doing all that but you get used to it after years of braiding.
The salon I go to has braiders who only braid and then stylists will do the actual sewing and styling for that reason
Yeah but when clients are paying up to $1,000 you gon learn how to ignore the pain in your fingers lol
Did anyone think this was a buzzfeee video
*Buzzfeed
yes!! I didn't even realize it wasn't until your comment
Yes. Then I saw the channel name halfway into it. I was wondering why it wasn't funny. It was borderline offensive.

“How much can a WEAVE cost?”
LMAOOOO CORRECTION....
*how much can weave Cost?*
Lol look at 1:26 at the text bubble then. Correct them too.
It’s going to have to be a weave or weaves because weave by itself is a verb
