The Esperanza Court provides transitional residential support to individuals enrolled in the Bexar County Human Trafficking Court. This Bexar County Specialty Court began operating in May 2014 with the aim of interrupting the cycle of prostitution, arrests and addiction that devastates the lives of women and men. Shortly after the court’s inception, Crosspoint agreed to add its proven model of transitional residential services to the court’s resources. Crosspoint’s Esperanza program provides a safe and secure residential experience for clients.
The program is co-located in our Residential Reentry Center where that program’s structure and accountability rules provide clients positive support in their challenging transition. Esperanza clients who lack positive supports in the community need time to establish a stable foundation for independent growth and success. The Crosspoint program provides a safe haven from which Esperanza clients can take time to build their skills and resources as they prepare for a new life

Judge Boyd is extremely tough, but she is unbiased & fair! She is the very definition of equal justice & the only reason she is so tough is because she cares & she wants these people to do better. This is extremely rare in a Judge, much less a court. Most Judges are not fair, equal & unbiased, they also tend to view the defendants not as people but lost causes & a waste of resources. That is just wrong on so many levels & why so many are repeat offenders. Judge Boyd should be training other Judges on how to properly execute the duties of their office!

Well with some people you can't get them to take the help being offered, for whatever reasons. It's kinda like with alcoholism, and drug addiction. Until the person admits there is a problem and they need help, nothing is going to change. Don't know if she refuses to see she has a problem, or is in denial and doesn't think she even has a problem. So she isn't going to seek help. Then you have those that do seek the help but want it on their terms, and by their rules, and it doesn't work that way. If you are going to accept the help offered, you have to abide by what the doctors are telling you and follow all instructions.

No, I really agree with this with Judge Boyd. I don’t always agree with everything that she does, but I certainly agree with this. I mean, this is a tough case. And she approached it with fairness, but also understanding that this person has problems but she wasn’t gonna let her use that to manipulate her way out of something either. And that’s what I really liked the best, everyone brought this case even Mr. Munoz, did a beautiful job. I imagine it’s easy to want to give up on people that have had a bent history, but they’re still a living breathing human and we just like those hopes so maybe this is the opportunity she needs to get it together and have somewhat of a remainder of life left. She’s a tough old gal, she can do this

I picture them as a new born baby and God only knows what she went through - I would bet sexual abuse by a relative, dysfunctional "family", probably no family at all, certainly no guidance. Ok she's had psychiatric care since the age of 9, did 20 years in prison, and has done this that and the other. In other words what she is trying to say w/out saying it, is she has been under some sort of doctors care since she was 9 and has been around the block, and with her experience there isn't a doctor out there that can help her. She knows what's best for her, and doesn't want a doctor telling her what to do, and if needs to be medicated, has to take her medicine, if ordered.
Now after I said all that, here we are 6 weeks later, and that is exactly what she tried to do. She wanted to do the program on her terms, and not the way the court laid it out and told her what was going to be expected of her. But she didn't want to do it according to the court, she wanted to do it her way. Exactly like I said above. She don't need no stinkin doctor, or medication, she knows better than they do. So here we are....................I knew she was going to do this after hearing her from the first court case, and the statements she made in regards to her psychiatric care.
Now here we are 1 month later, wonder what she has done so far??? I am betting she hasn't completed one thing the court ordered her to do!!!!!! Why is it these defendants don't try to do better and be better the first time around?? No, they fool around, they skirt the courts orders, and try to get away with anything they can. Till they are caught, again and again. Then after multiple chances, took it for granted got caught and go in front of the judge 2, 3, and 4 times. Now they want to be better, and do the right thing....................
