Your explanation makes sense! Physics 101- contrast, reality, illusion, speed, slow, absence of, weight change, rotation, line of dance. It all transforms into beautiful movement.

So glad you enjoyed it. I guess we could have just told people to “twirl real fast”... but that wouldn’t have been much of a lesson. ;-)

Like always, this is a great video! Thank you for the tips to practice and improve turns, also for me as a Competition Line Dancer. This year I want to do more Couple Dance, because I love Country Two Step and West Coast Swing.....😊

As a rule of thumb, in most turns, when you are on the left foot, you turn left and on the right foot, you turn right. With the spiral turns it is the opposite. On the right foot, you turn left and on the left foot, you turn right.

    • @countrydancex

Sort of. That is partially correct.
You do typically begin rotating to the left around the left foot … IF you are facing forward (and the same for turning right around the right foot). BUT it is just the opposite when traveling backwards (turn to the left beginning around right and vice versa).
The same is true for both pivot turns AND chaine turns. Spiral turns are rarely used in two step, but you are correct about those.
