I was 4 when this movie came out but I saw this movie around 10 and I was such a fan of I Love Lucy, and I was mad watching this. I remember hating seeing her like that. I appreciate her performance now that I’m an adult.
This movie is one of the best I have ever seen, with comedy legend Lucille Ball in a rare dramatic role, displaying great versatility as an actress. This was also one of her last roles before her death in 1989. This is something everyone should see, when given a chance. It really gives us all something to think about.
Grande luculle la sigo desde q hacia yo quiero a Lucy Pero acá ella interpreta auna sin techo y lo hace tan real Lucy quedarás para siempre en mi memoria 🙏
It is too sad to watch, to see Lucy cry even not for real, is too heartbreaking after all the joy she imparted to folk watching her old shows; shows that taught good manners and well-meaning. .
I remember this movie when it came out and how I cried through the whole thing. She gave such meaning and dignity to that character. We will never see another one like her!
Yeah, and for me it was like Lucille Ball as we never have seen her before-By the way-I met her daughter at a Barnes and Noble bookstore,in New York City, back in 2010-Her daughter Lucie Arnaz was there to perform songs from her new music CD-Her son was with her-I took photos with them-I am in those photos with them-Such very nice people!

I just watched this movie on Christmas Day 2023 and it's the only one I ever watched that made me cry throughout the whole movie. I wish I knew about this movie when I was a kid in the 80s. This movie is a classic. It was sad because I felt Lucille Ball was washed up by this point and the times had changed because of the crack epidemic and high crime waves of the 80s. I thought Lucille was fantastic in this movie. I hope there is a 4K version in the future.
I once heard from somewhere that when they were making this movie people who didn't know that Lucy was playing this part would walk within a certain distance of her and nor recognize her. They thought that a homeless woman had somehow gotten onto the set and nobody bothered to kick her off of it.
I became homeless with 3 small boys, due to an ex boyfriend, getting me evicted. My oldest one taken in by family, but me and the 2 younger were homeless for 2 days in the streets, sleeping in a cardboard box, i lost my car, home and 2 jobs all in the same day, friday the 13th, 1996, we were sheltered for 10 months, i got a job and we got a townhome. It was a scary, lonely destitute time, but we 3 stayed strong and today we are doing great, one son in college the other a notorious DJ, me i had some college in medical, but am physically worn down, but my kids, all 3 are fine, and like money.
I've loved Lucy since I was a little boy who just happened upon an episode of I Love Lucy airing on Nick @ Nite, and it's been a romance ever since. But in all honesty, I cannot say I had even heard of this film until today. I don't know HOW it went under my radar. I loved it - in spite of a little shoddy camerawork and editing, and a few mediocre performances on some of the other actors; but I am so glad to have seen this. It really pulled me out of my bummed out woe-is-me attitude today. We take for granted how blessed and privileged so many of us are. That we have roofs over our heads, food to eat, warmth, shelter and a safe place to sleep. I am glad Lucy took up this project, if only for that take-away... To give more insight into the often hellish waking-nightmare lives countless homeless people are obligated to deal with simply to survive on this planet. They deserve better - shelter, food and warmth should be fundamental rights, not privileges.
I saw this film not long after Lucy died and I shed a tear or too, it was a wonderful farewell film from Lucy thanks for sharing it with us its 5 stars from me.
I loved Lucy even more when I saw this movie. I loved watching the interview with her about filming this movie and she said she was actually able to walk down the street without people recognizing her when she was in this costume. Such a humbling part for a magnificent actress too.
Great performance by Lucy. I remember my first time in New York getting on a subway and sitting down next to a bag lady just as a man was throwing her box full of stuff off I remember her smiling though and I smiled back at her. She seemed used to people treating her bad. So sad I wish I could I could have helped her.
Thank you for uploading this movie with Lucy in it. Stone Pillow is a movie that showed Lucy at her finest serious dramatic works. Most younger fans did not know that Lucy was first a gorgeous model, dramatic actress and finally the crazy red head that we all love to this very day. Cheers for Lucy. I miss her so much.
The part in part 7 where she wanders out of the homeless shelter in the dark and has that flashback to when she lived on the farm, happily watching Sonny play, and her husband sits and reads the paper was so bittersweet. :(
The NYC of 1985 was a lt different from the NYC of today. Back then it was crime-ridden, dirty, and very brutal on the streets. Homeless people faced a very tough road -attacks, lack of services, police harassment and so on.
Boy are u right. I visited quite often...to Manhattan. Times Square was all Porn Shops. Lots of Homeless. But most of us had money and things were cheaper. I just moved to a wicked nice Rooming House after having lived at the Shelter for 1+ years in Worcester,Mass. My heroin addiction made me think it was great because I worked so I had no bills and could keep all my money. With the exception of a couple of incidents it wasn't THAT bad. I survived. It is IMPOSSIBLE to go hungry or dirty in Worcester. But because ppl cared I am now on the Clinic and in a great Rooming House.

For anyone interested, I came here from watching Lucy interview with Joan Rivers on the tonight show 85. She tells a few stories about making this film, very interesting and funny. I implore you to check it out.
I watched this movie when it first came out and I was amazed at Lucy's performance. I later found out that the movie was not considered good and therefore Lucy was robbed of being nominated for a Emmy !!!! I guess too many people can't handle having a actor or actress step out of their comfort zone. The idea that the homeless situation is no better than when this movie came out can't be ignored.
Irony alert: The opening scene her "corner" is of her homeless, sleeping and washing herself in front of what is now Magnolia Bakery (made famous from Sex in The City) in the West Village on Bleecker Street, now the wealthiest residential neighborhood in NYC.
She was not under appreciated at all in her time. Are you kidding me? And she still.isnt. who doesnt know her name? No one. She is beloved by millions dead and alive.
Its beautifully played really. She is always so gifted with working with Props is was one of the most important parts of her comedy: here she is again using this gift.. important aspect as well to her acting. I think she is a little rough in terms of classical method acting kind of thing but as little as I do know, she plays the part perfectly with her ability to change on a dime from internal to extreme shortness with others. I saw her talking about it on the Carson Show with Joan Rivers as the host, and she talked about how people would pass her by, and never look at her, or how she had forgotten herself and tried to get into a fancy restaurant only be asked to leave... as she did. I think is pretty awesome that a woman that every one knew in the life here in the US and elsewhere, people just passed her on the street and refused to look at this person that had fallen though the cracks. If it has been of anyone of faith, same on them, shame on us; these are the very people we need to walk with.

there are lots of poor out there and there are them that turn there backs on them and that is a dam shame that people do not care no more then they do
that's for sure and there are them of us that can help and make it just a little better for them
