Bottle calfs are work. If you have a good relationship with a small dairy you can have them AI to any bull you choose. They have automatic milk.feeders that work good. I like Jursey crosses I think it's the best beef I've eaten.
Yeah it’s a tough decision. A bigger trailer probably means a bigger truck so then I keep doing the math of 2 people every six weeks and new rig might save 2-3 hours. If they made $30 an hour each that saved time is worth $180. They payback on new investment may not pencil out.
@@tynerpondfarmer6691 Yes, that is some tough math. That equals up to $15-1600 a year in savings, probably not going to pay for the truck and trailer. But figure in the sale of one of your current truck/trailer. Then add in the added profit created by them spending that time doing something else instead of hauling.
