    I actually remember this game from back in the day, but could never remember the game's name! I vividly remember using undead Kyle and his lightning attack rod to beat the final boss; and I vaguely remembered the portrait of the main hero, (although I thought he was called the Lightning Knight or the Electric Knight. Whoops.)
    Thank you for putting this video together. With a little trial and error from a list of Game Boy games, this video helped connect me back to a fun childhood memory! Thanks man!

    This game is known in Japan as Velious II: Fukushuu no Jashin, and was developed by NMK (Nippon Microcomputer Kaihatsu), founded by former Tecmo employees and also the developers of Zed Blade (Operation Ragnarok), their only Neo Geo game.

      Yeah i was really digging it too. What's one of your favorite 8 bit games as far as music?

    • @Skeletroy
      @Skeletroy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      NiggelMyNiggel Some of my favorite 8-bit soundtracks are Journey to Silius, Freedom Force, Castlevania, Mega Man 4, Kirby's Dream Land, Double Dragon, TMNT 2, Ducktales, and Batman.

    • @riggel8804
      @riggel8804 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Skeletroy. Yeah journey to Silius is pretty awesome. Especially the title screen music. I always hoped someone would do a romhack of that game and call it Terminator 2

    • @MissFuzzbottom
      @MissFuzzbottom 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mega Man 9.
      Most of the 8-bit Mega Mans, really, but Mega Man 9 has some great earworms.

    This is one of my favorite games of all time, even though I acknowledge it has no right to be. It just hit me at the right age back when I first got it. I've played through it many times since, including once earlier this year on my RetroPie. Once you get Zold, the bad guys don't stand a chance! Great video, and the flaws pointed out are fair points. Sure wish I still had my original boxed copy, but since it now costs an arm and a leg, my repurchased loose cart will have to do.

    Interesting. I love games that put emphasis on exploration and secrets. This party management aspect is well thought out, in addition of the puzzle game aspect requiring you to choose the right hero. I have never heard about it back in the days. Is it rare in the market?

    at the end of the video he refers to this game as an, "adventure rpg hybrid" game. what classifies it as a hybrid? what is it a hybrid of?

    • @Dhalin
      @Dhalin 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Adventure Games like Zelda are usually top-down games in which you roam around, solve puzzles, pick up items, etc. RPG games are usually top-down games that usually don't have as many puzzles though there are some exceptions (Lufia 2..) and they usually don't have items usable in roaming mode and RPGs usually involve battle segments, XP, and levelups. This game acts like Zelda, but also has growing stats (via the treasure chests) so it's a hybrid between Zelda and a JRPG like Final Fantasy, kinda like Secret of Mana is.

    aghhh this game is so cool. I would have LOVED this game as a kid. 10 year old me would have been so much better off than buying random 2nd hand GB and GBC games in Gamestop based on the cartridge art and if I knew anything about them. I bought so many crap games that were a waste of money and time... this game alone would have given me so much entertainment. Damn it.

      Chip tunes are the best. Can identify hundreds of games from the 8 and 16 bit era from just a couple bars of music.
      Last 10-15 years can't remember anything. The music has been pretty damned forgettable overall just like 99% of new games in general.
