Always loved this show.
It sometimes had variable quality scripts but the most memorable thing about it was the characters. They were brilliant and carried the show. They really stuck in the mind.
I'm 70 and I love this show! I STILL watch it!!
No question about it are you been served
was one of the all time great British comedies , the cast were great .
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Decades ago, I had the pleasure of meetin John Inman. He was totally delightful, very charming and funny.
Like Paul Lynde, Liberace, Elton John, and I might add Rock Hudson?
did you bend over first or did he?
@@virginiaconnor8350 Oh, yeah!
Best opening lines ever :D
Mr Harman, cleaning with a hoover...Something gets vacuumed..
Miss Brahms "OOO! Ear, wot d'ya think your playin at?.."
Mr Harman "What you goin on about, I bet that aint the first time you've lorst your knickers in the tube!"
Captain Peacock "Mr Harman.. Would you please hurry about your business and get back to the store room."
Mr Harman "You've got no authority over me, so get stuffed!"
If only us shop workers could get away with that today 🤨🤣
I wish the cast were looking down upon me re-watching their hilarious antics which bought smiles and laughter to millions worldwide xx God bless them all xx
So, we get a load of characters/actors that were in it once, maybe twice - but no mention of Mr. Rumbold, Nicolas Smith!!!
got a picture of some random black guy and several ai fake-a-likes
@@contour157 That were the characters in the US version of the show.😉
Not US but Australian @@trovey02
What about Mike Berry aka Mr. Spooner who replaced Mr. Lucas ???
Not what I watch here in Texas. The only black guy that appeared more than once was Mr. Harmon's young assistant.@@contour157
Where was Nicholas Smith aka Mr. Rumbolt, Penny Irving as Young Mr. Grace's secretary, Vivienne Johnson as his Nurse, Doremy Vernon as canteen worker, Candy Davis as Miss Belfries, Mr. Rumbolt's secretary,Mr. Harmon's young African-British assistant, Diana King as Mrs. Peacock or the 2 cleaning women ???
wasn't there also 1-2 cafeteria staffs shown in 1 episode???🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲
@@warbunny13203 Doremy Vernon was the cafeteria/canteen server that was in several episodes
@@robing9364 ahhh, thanks, been so long i must have forgotten there was multiple showings of her, also being as old as the 1st season of the show doesn't help the memory🤔🤔😳😳😁😞🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲
@@robing9364 Some of the actors and actresses are still alive. The video states the cast that has died. Although you are quite correct to ask after Mr Rumbold, Miss Belfridge, Mrs Peacock and possibly the two charladies. Penny Irvine, Vivienne Johnson, Doremy Vernon, Keith Hodiak (Seymour, Mr Harmon’s assistant) are all still very much alive as of September 2024.
@@warbunny13203 yes, you are quite correct. Whereas Dormey Vernon was the canteen manageress in several episodes, there were other staff shown too. Most notably in the episode Anything you can do (I think) there was a delegation of several canteen workers assembled in Mr Rumbold’s office who resigned en masse and Mrs Slocombe et al had to take over the running of the canteen.
Where's old jug-ears? No Rumbold.
That AI voiceover is awful.
Wendy Richards ACTUALLY died from BREAST CANCER get your DAMN FACTS RIGHT🤬😡😡😡
I was just about to say the same thing.
Also, aside from Wendy Richard NOT! committing suicide, Frank Thornton did NOT! fall downstairs, but died peacefully in his sleep.
@@lesmoody2444 they said the same about julie andrews on another page who is still alive !!!! scandalous. they should be sued
It did say breast cancer
@@BBSYDmom no
Loved British humor of the 1970s.
I love this show and watch the reruns routinely. It was so funny and goodhearted.
That said, how could you leave out Mr. Rumbold? He was very important to the show.
Frank Thornton ton didnt 'pass' tragically. He died of old age.
Tragically died? It is called old age.
You have to be young to say that. 😂
Loved this show I watched it all time my favourite was john inman as mr humphies
I still watch it on Britbox.
Can someone teach the muppet reading the script English
It's an AI bot
Started watching with high hopes, but was forced to stop after hearing the AI narration. Pathetic.
"Dear sexy knickers, I don't half fancy you." Forgot the rest, but never will forget those lines. Probably not even correct after forty plus years.
Gram and I used to watch this show!!! 🤗❤️
Well the actor may have died - mostly of old age - but their character lives on forever.
The Frances Bennett images are wrong. The image on the left is Fleur Bennett, from “Are You Being Served, Again? “ or, as it is known in the UK, “Grace and Favor. “ She is still very much alive.
Also, you did not cover Nicholas Smith, “Mr. Cuthbert Rumbold,“ passed in 2015, the longest surviving cast member.
Another interesting video ruined by its’ narration.
Interesting... The actor that played OLD Mr. Grace was 20 years younger than the actor that played YOUNG Mr. Grace
Great actor! He was also the grandad in Bread!
And it showed the makeup on Old Mr Grace was terrible
That was the joke
"Old Mr. Grace doesn't get about much anymore."
I was very young when this show was on and I loved it. Mr Humphrey was my first exposure to homosexuality and I saw it as funny and I loved him no matter how he was. The gayer the better😂😂😂. True slapstick comedy. this amazing group of actors were before their time. They are missed.
I was going to watch, but I was hoping for positive and fun stories. So I’ll just go outside and pick apples 🍎.
❤ I love this sitcom I like English humor
Frances Bennett was not Mavis Moulturd, as pictured above. Mavis is Fleur Bennet and she is still alive.
So many mistakes.
gordon kaye car accident happened in 1990 not 1999
It's Alfie BASS not BASE
AI go figure.
I just like to know why they skipped Mr. Rumbold Nicolas Smith. He played a very prominent role in the show as his role as department manager being on scene way more than Mr. Grace and way more so than the minor characters who only made one or few appearances snd maybe as background characters. He deserved more respect in this video.
This is what I call real comedy 😅
❤I love it for ys mrs slocombe was funny and Inman John wonderful and peacock all was funny 😁. Rip team actors!!
Sooooo, you telling me that Mr. Rumbold is still alive? 😅
He passed away in 2015.
@@organrick yeah I know. And he wasn't mentioned here.
One video stated that John Inman was almost removed after the pilot. Another said the show was intended to be centered around Trevor Bannister. He was put in a supporting role and later out. I think that I saw Alfie Bass in "The Long Way Home". A WW II movie. An uncredited role. John Wayne and Ward Bong\d were in it. Before they were famous. The way that Arthur Brough spoke, I suspect that he was the voice of Churchill's radio speech. The one with "fighting on the beaches and in the streets".
When 'Are You Being Served' was being pitched to the BBC, the head said 'Ok but the poofter goes'. Either Croft or Lloyd said 'If the poofter goes, then so do I.
And that is a direct quote seen in a documentary on 'Are You Being Served'.
@@jace19691 Watched it.
@@leondillon8723 And James Hater (Mr Tebbs) was the voiceover
for Mr Kipling cakes too.
This is probably one of the most best shows that's ever been on television! It's been there for me in lonely times, hard times, and good times, I wish I could personally thank each and every one of these artists that helped me and continue to do so. I found this back in the mid 90s then some years later I found the spinoff Grace & favor also known as, Are you being served again, which has also been a delight and a great show in it's own right. Unfortunately this video doesn't do much for their memories. If you can't do something right just don't do it. What a beloved cast lighting in a bottle.
Wow...they ALL Looked Older then their actual Age when the show was on...Most by at least 10 plus years
Interesting information about these beloved character actors, but the AI narration’s mispronunciation and lack of consistent punctuation detracts from the presentation.
Mr. Rumbold (Nicholas Smith) Is Still Alive!
i 1st seen Wendy Richards as Ms Fowler on East Enders, a great brit soap drama, tho i was unable to watch it after Ms Fowler was all but gone from it🤔🤔😁👍😞😞🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲
Alfie BASE.. give me a fukin break..
Not sure why you didn't research a bit more there are many glaring mistakes in this video. At least you could have tried to get two of the actors names right Alfie Bass you prounced as Base as used in the musical version,it's prounced as its spelt,no e just Bass.Arthur Brough is prounced Bruff. There are many others including Live used as to be alive and Live as in happening now,you got that wrong.Do you know the English Language,if not learn it before you spoil another presentation.
Another ridiculously bad voiceover spoiling an interesting video
John Inman died on my 36th birthday
And what about Stephanie Gathercole, who narrated the spiel over both the opening titles and the closing credits?
Does SHE live still?
As pointed out, cast members for 1 episode were included, but not some that were in multiple episodes. It would have been nice to hear why some of them were replaced partway through the show. Also, this computer generated narration should be banned.
That's not Frances Bennett. That's Fleur Bennett from Grace and Favour.
Is there no English voice willing to recite this script for a few bob?
😅😅😅 exactly
ARE YOU FREE (MR HUMPHRIES ) IM FREE 🤣.
What about jug ears I didnt see him. They all made the show worth watching every one doing the best they could.
So many mistakes....... " was always active with fans on sociale media " ......dead in 1999.....????? 🤔🙄😮💨
What about Mr Rumbold and Mr Klein? Also, the secretary Miss Belford?
Is Nicholas Smith still alive., I must confess that I do not remember a lot of the actors shown.
Clickbait.
26:06 That's Fleur Bennett in Grace and Favour on the left. Don't know if they are related but they look similar. 38 years age difference.
What happened to young mr graces nurse....
Full of cheeky humor 😅
Captain peacock was not the floor manager ha was the floor walker. Mr rum old was the manager
John Inman what a name 😂
What is your point?
@@jenniferhughes6057 John in man the clue is in the name
@@neilgilbert6798 How puerile.
@@sandypatience just a funny name John Inman had a sense of humour
Did i.miss the nurse?😮
Studying and reporting on the deaths of people - what an incredibly foolish and frivolous waste of your precious time which you can never get back.
Whatever happened to Penny Irving?
well, she didn't survive Mrs Wakehurst now, did she?
@@tayachting6345 Who is Mrs Wakehurst?
@@fwlawrence8670 You''ve never seen the classic horror film House of Whipcord?
Hogan's Heroes
Fake
so fake. mr.mash photos aren't even of the same person. same with me. peacock. eyes change from brown to blue? uh no.
Mr Nash
it was quite good when it started but really over stayed its welcome. goinng into an awful pantomie with dressup entries by the end. cast clearly enjoying vewiers not so much.
Cant fault most of the essays
That show was trashy garbage in the model of Benny Hill.
It was full of titty and homophobic innuendo.
A one set cheaply made act, to punch down on the simple viewers.
The narrators shallow praise of this show almost nauseating.
You didn't like it?
This like all British Comedy was my favourite. BTW, You gave LARRY MARTYN'S CHARACTER'S NAME AS MR MASH. IT WAS IN FACT MR NASH!
WRONG on "Francess Bennett". Her name was Fluer Bennett and she is still alive
Fleur
