I’ve been adding more and more lava rock to orchids that need a quick wet/dry cycle because I always error towards overwatering no matter how I try to mend my ways. I’m glad your hand is getting better even though it probably feels like it’s taking a while. Slow progress is still progress! 😊

It's beautiful Phragmipedium Ed. I have a Phrag. Peruflora's Spirit for the past three years. It was in bloom at the nursery and did not sale so I bought it after the bloom fell off at 50% off. I have not yet gotten it to flower again, but it did put on one new growth. I have it in fine bark, clay pebbles, and grow stones. I only give it distilled water, MSU fertilizer, and now just started giving it Cal-mag. It's also under a grow light in a ventilated plastic pot. Hopefully, fingers crossed I will be able to get it to flower one these days. Happy orchid growing from Kentucky and take care, James

It sounds like you are doing the correct cultivation for your phrag...distilled water coupled with the cal-mag and Msu formula should be fine.......some good growers don't use a high dosage of fetilizer whilst others do..... so split the difference and give them no more than 200ppm and some good flushings. I wish you the best of luck with the plant.......just one other thing Phrags do not like their roots to be wam.....have a good weekend, Ed.
Hi Ed I'm so glad too see your chanel with so many exhaustive information about orchids and phragmipedium of where ai hawe learn so many important things about frags, paps, or dendrobium . Ai hawe 6 plants of phragmipedium and ofcourse Cardinale too in flower now . My plants are outside of March too November, here the problems are the heat-wave, ai live near Rome Italy the summer is very hot. Ai hawe Yelva Mihre of two mouths in lava rock and pumice and seems doing well . Thanks again about soo many practical and good information in your channel and ai wait the next video. Lava rock doesn;t need cleaning the only thing you need to get rid of is the powder which forms from the rocks rubbing together......I just use a sieve and flush the ' sand ' away under the tap...... thanks for taking a look and enjoy the rest of the week.......take care, Ed.
