    This has been in my Amazon wish list for a while so perfect to see more of the inside , I like the look of it and I could see myself picking a limited palette from there for paintings , lovely thank you Irit x ☀️

    Wow, great to have a look through this book with you! I love seeing combos I'd never try or think of. So interesting how they assign emotions to the combos -- although it seems to have as much to do with saturation and lightness as it does hue.

    Irit, one of my favorite books on color is an older book "The Color Scheme Bible" by Anna Starmer..

    Ahhh, book reviews! This is part of what I do all day, everyday .. I am a Librarian/Acquisitions Clerk. I spend money buying books, waiting for quitting time to go home and paint! 😉 So I super enjoy when you talk watercolour and books. Gives me good ideas! Thanks. 😊 Enjoy your day Irit!

    Hi Irit! I've been thinking of getting this book for many months. I love the idea of having a physical book. Wondering if you've found it useful in your painting and/or crochet. I also appreciate that the author gives suggested ratios as that can be hard for beginners like me to figure out. Thanks for this review.

      Hey Katerina! I do like it. I haven't used it a ton but I think it's really cute and I also prefer a physical book sometimes!

    I have been collecting painting images from net etc (i even buy books if i see images worth collecting).
    The idea is to then make a collection of paintings that i really really loved for some reason. Mainly for their colors.
    Then to study what combinations were used and make a note of them.
    In practice though, i have been slowly slowly developing some combinations that works great and i try to keep paintings using them only.
    In other words i do not use color combis that i am not very sure about .(unlike 99 percentage of painters on net).

    Hi. I watched your review and I’m wondering if this book was useful for you as artist/ painter. A second volume is out since a year at least. I’m hesitating which one could be useful for my art. Thank you

      Hmmm, truthfully, I think it's a lovely book but I can't say I used it a ton. I paint intuitively and so I go with the flow. However I think it's a nice book for color inspiration and sometimes I flip through it. I think it would work particularly well for designing a color scheme for clothes or decor, maybe less art

    How did your use of the bóok go? Did you find use of the palettes for your crochet? I was thinking it might be hard to find the same colours in yarn....

    • @iritlandgraf
      @iritlandgraf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do like the book and have looked through it for inspiration, but yes, sometimes it’s easier to start with the yarn.

    Delicate has this shaby chic vibe to me.
    But.. Retro is a classic that is always coming back from time to time. I think I saw these 70's style shelves on Pinterest. The rounded orange shelves that are having a comeback but with some variety in color.
    I would agree that it's more for illustrations and interior design than painting. But I think this is a good book if you are getting inspired by color schemes more than with photos of something.

    Hello Irit... thank you for the review... nice book, but I wish it opened up flat (arthritis in fingers makes it difficult for me to use books like this)... love the graphics though.. Take care

    Thanks for sharing this lovely book. I’m excited that she shows the ratios of colors too! I can see this book being helpful when choosing color palettes for watercolor. I struggle with color ratios. Definitely going to check this out. Thanks Irit!

    Can you please explain those CYMK and RGB ratio number ... below every pie chart? What are those numbers?

    • @iritlandgraf
      @iritlandgraf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm guessing the numbers for each color, relevant for creating color palettes in different softwares. Some use RBG color system and some CYMK

    • @lynntheuns7823
      @lynntheuns7823 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iritlandgraf Yes this is true, RBG is for screens and CMYK is for print☺

    the graphic designer in me is cringing actually at how the chapter titles are laid out, some are hard to read when opened and i just want to fix them, kerning people, remember kerning when laying out text (the book does seem to be more aimed at graphic designers or even illustrators). the inside pages actually remind me of projects we had to do at uni lol

    • @iritlandgraf

      Lol, I guess then it's better for us non graphic designers ;)
