I know I need to "git gud," but I'm definitely struggling more with this game's combat than I did with Elden Ring or even the original Dark Souls. Then again I've been playing a lot of casual and easy games for the past 2 years or so, so I'm a bit rusty. This game's art style and world building is so beautiful, I'm definitely looking forward to getting more into it. I appreciate the informative video, I will have to try and get this build together at some point and see what havoc I can wreak! :)
I was rusty too, and I still think i'm kinda rusty (been playing a lot of casual and survival craft games in the past year), but the more I play, the better I'm getting with the melee/parry combat loop. I made this build to get out of the melee combat, lol.
you need to play it more like a diablo game rather then a souls-like game, trust me, this game is more about spamming 1 powerful rune and obliterating anything with 1 button then dodge/roll/think. You just need to figure out what combo works best for you!
I can tell you exactly why, because typical for moon studio games, enemies predict where you will be based on your movement direction. instead of attacking to your current location. this was also the case in Ori, enemies were always shooting projectiles at the spot where you will be if you kept moving the same direction, and not where you are right now. So if you dodge too early, the enemy will change his attack direction and hit you.
i have a very hard time timing parry. I suck when i parry, so i just roll around until they are done attacking then attack, or just shoot from afar with bow and arrow
my archer build: get yourself around 10% Focus gain on damage dealt (achievable with one handed weapon+gem, preferably on dagger since its the lightest), 300 Focus and use Cone Shot. Slot in Buff skills into your dagger to use it as a buff stick. the main hand weapon Focus gain on damage translates to your Bow, same goes for Buffs. you can do infinite volleys of Cone Shot because it shoots so many arrows at once that it almost refills your whole Focus bar on damage dealt. thank me later.

@nicolasm.bronner2747 use a dagger that is white and not enchanted and put 3 Runes into it to Buff your Bow. For example i use Damage Surge, Stamina Wellspring and Cold Enchanment Runes on my dagger. put this dagger into second main weapon slot to mainly use it for Buffing your Bow/Stats with those Runes. you can also use a second bow instead of a dagger to use it as a Buff Weapon with your Runes Edit 1: to clarify: I Use 1 mainhand weapon with 8% focus gain on damage + 3% from gem, and 1 Bow as my main Weapn (with Cone Shot Rune (you can get this from a bow that sawmill guy sells)). then i have a second bow and a second mainhand weapon to use buff runes to buff my main bow, then switch back to my main bow and main weapon to have the buffs up for those Edit 2: oh and use a Channel Rune on one of these secondary weapons to get 100 Focus on beginning of fights where you dont have any Focus. Then you can use a Cone Shot right away with these 100 Focus and fill your whole bar up. you basically dont need any Focus flasks or buff food then

Than you switch to your bow and you are rdy to go :) But not everything transfer to bow, if i remember correctly, the additional dmg dealt on hit doesnt. Like for example 21% chance to do extra plague dmg (or something like that). There is also a good alternative for dagger. Buy the cheapest sword from blacksmith and put there cold dash rune. You can almost 1shot every minion or freez bigger one so you have time to refil your health/focus on normal hits. Have fun boyz. btw. good content! keep it up bro :)
Hey great build ! It seems like the "Focus Regeneration" passive you have on your gloves doesn't actually work. At least for me it seems bugged and it doesn't refill alone like the "HP Regen" one. But i think that even if it worked, the gains while attacking would be enough to already have infinite focus :) Im actually cruising through the Crucible with a Strength/Faith weapon and a semi-Focus build. Its a 2H sword that have no charged attack and a really fast moveset, name is sthg like Sting (sorry i play in french). I think this is actually one of the best 2H sword in the game because of its moveset. I equipped the Rune attack "Lightning Assault" which is truly busted and really satisfying to play cuz it doesn't whiff ahah. I also think it's one of the best Rune attacks. Both together make the weapon incredible and the crucible really easy. I can one tap even the biggest mobs with the Rune attack which deals roughly 250+ damages. Of course the Echo Knight is still a challenge but the Lightning assault cancels any move he does, and destroys him. So seeing a build that is the total opposite of my build makes me think that the game has a lot to offer build-wise.. even if its a bit random in this state ahah. Well, its not totally opposite since we both abuse Focus attacks ahah. Anyway great video again :)
Yes, the focus regen passive on the gloves appears to be currently bugged and doesn't work like the HP regen passive. I kept it in hopes of when they fix the bug. Your build sounds amazing. I will try that out on my main character. Thanks for sharing.
Bows act like a shield. You can get up close block and then fire off an arrow directly after block. Block whether bow or shield is underrated by most people.

Cool build! I’m gonna try building it myself. Have you considered the cone shot rune? It’s a very narrow cone, and it deals a big bunch if damage in a short time. Handy for when you need to eliminate something in a pinch. Plus each individual arrow procs the focus gain too. I’m currently lv22 with a tier 2 bow and 30 dex and it lets me one shot those pesky mages that the crucible likes to sprinkle in everywhere.
@@robiplays I wanna try out different stats. I never touched intelligence so I was thinking going down that route. Kinda have a balanced build with strength/faith. Then i added dex to try out daggers

@@duckielove2286 Sadly, the game seems to push towards prioritizing stats to get optimal builds. My first character has stats all over the place becuase I wanted to tryout different weapons. Its always good to try out stuff. Hoping that the devs add a path towards respecing. Now my other Characters are prioritizing stats that compliment their build and weapon of choice.
You should trya full hp regen build. The sacrament guardian armor from the blacksmith all of it cursed. With health regen and hopefully item weight decreased. Upgraded to at least 3. I use a sword, a greatsword and a staff. 42 str and 26 int to use some of the weapons that use them both. I get hit in the crucible and 2 seconds later Im already at full hp. Plus the staff has gain focus on damage dealt and i can just spam spells.
The build still works, it's just that the active focus regen (regen through rune skill activation) is not as much as before. Hoping they fix the focus regen passive (the one I have on my gloves) because it is not working like the health regen passive. If they fix that, then we should be getting just about the same amount of focus regen pre-hotfix.
Focus is used but regained quickly, so when a rune attack is performed at full focus bar, it just cancels out the difference, since the amount of focus gained was more than the amount of focus used in the rune attack. Now with the Chipped Topaz gem on the pants, before Hotfix 3, it gave a % amount of focus whenever focus was used in a rune attack. It was nerfed to just give a flat amount now. On the pants, it was giving 7% focus back on focus use even if you don't hit an enemy, with a 53%focus gain (this increases by another 3% focus if you hit an enemy because of the chipped topaz on the bow), which was more than the amount of focus used on the rune attacks in the video. My total focus pool was 320. 7% of 320, with a focus gain of 53% is approximately 34 focus regained without hitting an enemy. The focus cost on the different rune attacks where Arrow: 15, Ice Arrow: 20, Fire Arrow: 20, Evasive Shot: 40.

@@dafera Use the 'Yewn Longbow' sold by Whittacker in town. It has 'Cone shot' rune on it already. Slot in a chipped topaz, and you will be able to regen focus very quickly when you use cone shot.

I say this because I am a person with many daily occupations and I try to dedicate time to playing (I really like doing it) but if you felt rusty, I literally am of no use! I get killed dozens of times in melee combat, I would love to have a ranged combat set asap!!!
Common gear (white weapons and armor), is really useful in this game. It gives one the flexibility to slot runs and gems that compliments one's play style. In regard to getting the rings (or any ring in general), they are unfortunately random drops. Though the crucible is a good place to get them on completion.
Focus regen forks but too slow , i have 110% focus gain and 2 items with Focus regen and get 1 focus every 4-5 sek =) you can infuse yellow stones (2 kinds all give you focus regen) in helmet and get focus regen
I noticed you were losing health every time you shoot and because you were taking damage, you lose stamina as well (from the curse on one of your gear). maybe it was because of your katana?
Yeah, the curse that makes me lose stam when damaged is a pain, lol. I will look to see if the Katana is contributing to the cascading effect. Thanks for the tip.
Your damage per hit is not that good, so how long does it take to kill final two phase boss? I wish you showed that with this build. My mage two shots mobs in the Crucible, so in comparision I'm thinking that the last two phase boss is a long fight?

Yes, unfortunately, for each build I make, I have to create a new character and level them up. At the moment, there is no way to reset attribute points. Devs said they are working on adding this to the game.
Well, your gloves are actually awful, great build though. Right now, Focus Regeneration does not work, so it's a dead stat and you regain focus by shooting anyway so I'm not worried about your focus situation, health regen also isn't so great for you as your goal is to stay as far away as possible. I'm sitting on that legendary bow and I now absolutely need to try myself a build like this. Thanks for the inspiration
I am so confused. I saw a build from someone yesterday with 250 armor just face tanking enemies. I have 1.1k armor and 230 life and get 2-3 shotted by everything in crucible. Now I see you with 300 armor and not even 100 life, taking hits like a champ. Something is bugged
world scales from main story bosses killed it seems, crucible mobs are the strongest, also armor stat by itself does little to nothing, health is the way to go rn if u want to be a bit tanky, i hope they fix armor stat.
You have to balance your weight ratio, the heavier you are the more penalised you are on defence. Everything is slower, your mitigation to avoid a hit or didge is compromised. I have an alt tanking with a shield but you have to invest into poise and weight stat to reduce your overall weight. Get your weight under normal. Most people go all out in either stamina or focus and ignore the last 2 stats. Next chapters you will see harder enemies and all those dump my points into one or two stat builds will start dying really quickly.
You want to make sure that the bow is selected as active on your weapon bar. Once it is active, you want to hold down the 'rune attack' button (it's the Left/right bumper on the xbox controller, can't remember the key on PC), and then press the corresponding attack.
@@robiplays extra fire damage means add fire element to the weapon? I didn't know that... I thought the weapon should have the element magic, and the gem gives extra damage....
My equipped leather pants is slotted with a gem that grants a 'Gain 7% Focus on Focus Use' perk, and my bow is also slotted with a gem that gives 3% focus on damage dealt. So since all my bow attacks are focus-based attacks, anytime I use any of my bow attacks, it consumes focus and restores back 7% of my total focus bar even if my shot misses. If my shots hit a enemy, i get the 7% from using a focus attack + 3% from damage dealt, which totals to 10% of my total focus bar regained if I hit a enemy. This scales with the total amount of Focus your character stats has. That is what makes the build insane, because I will never run out of focus for attacks. This also frees up my stamina, since I don't use it for attacks, and can then use my stamina mainly for dodging.

The build does not work anymore with hotfix 3, the changed focus on focus use to flat amount (unless hotfix 4 reverted it)

True, focus regen is bugged(not working) and I can do a lot better with other build complementary stats on the gloves.

I have seen that too. There seems to be some kind of scaling involved. Trying to figure out how the scaling (if there is one) works.

You want to make sure that the bow is selected as active on your weapon bar. Once it is active, you want to hold down the 'rune attack' button (it's the Left/right bumper on the xbox controller, can't remember the key on PC), and then press the corresponding attack.

how you make your sword on fire?
I added a gem that gives extra fire damage.
@@robiplays extra fire damage means add fire element to the weapon? I didn't know that... I thought the weapon should have the element magic, and the gem gives extra damage....
@@AbdullahQumper Yes, any gem that adds extra elemental damage to a weapon, the game shows the effect on the weapon.

How was your focus regenerating on shot?
My equipped leather pants is slotted with a gem that grants a 'Gain 7% Focus on Focus Use' perk, and my bow is also slotted with a gem that gives 3% focus on damage dealt.
So since all my bow attacks are focus-based attacks, anytime I use any of my bow attacks, it consumes focus and restores back 7% of my total focus bar even if my shot misses. If my shots hit a enemy, i get the 7% from using a focus attack + 3% from damage dealt, which totals to 10% of my total focus bar regained if I hit a enemy. This scales with the total amount of Focus your character stats has.
That is what makes the build insane, because I will never run out of focus for attacks. This also frees up my stamina, since I don't use it for attacks, and can then use my stamina mainly for dodging.
Where did you farm that yellow gem?

No. The Rune abilities from the Bow uses the Focus resource.
Try multishot rune. I can one shot most enemies with it and I'm lvl25

As of today, you currently can't respec in the game.
Doesnt work anymore since yesterday, cause they nerfed the %Focus gem
Still works, it's just that you don't get as much regen as before.
I wish there was a crossbow because this looks ridiculous even though its my build as well
