Hey everyone. I had this video ready to be uploaded for a while, I just had so much Advance Wars content I wanted to do, so it kept getting pushed back. However, I think it's time to give the Fire Emblem fans some content, you guys have been very patient. If you didn't catch it, I did a similar video rating the Black Eagles students a little while back: tinyurl.com/643d5utx 🕑 Timestamps: 0:00 Intro 0:50 Dimitri 4:10 Dedue 8:57 Felix 14:39 Ashe 17:28 Sylvain 21:59 Mercedes 25:26 Anette 28:02 Ingrid 33:24 Outro
@@nahte123456 I think he’s just poking fun of the fact mangs is disliking a character type that’s on the complete opposite end of the edgelord spectrum
Tbh, I prefer assholes to nice guys in writing. They tend to be a bit less deceptive than the nice guy at times, and being honest aint a bad pro to the character either.
My take on Felix and edgelords in general is that they instantly suck if every character acts like the edgelord is the coolest guy out there. Felix works better for me because characters like Ingrid will get angry at him for being edgy, or other characters just kinda roll their eyes a bit at him, making interactions with him feel like how people would actually act around someone like Felix
Felix's attitude makes perfect sense in the context of his past, and he softens up the more you get to know him (particularly if you're Bernadetta or Lysithea). I didn't like him at first but now he's one of my personal favourites.
I really like his relationship with Sylvain and Ingrid. They're a fun trio. I found his relationship with his father pretty interesting too. Felix clearly places value in his swordsmanship but because of the way his father talks about his brother's death he clearly hates fighting. At least fighting under a cause. He wants to be strong enough to survive and protect his friends but doesn't buy into the idea of glory or honor and sees battle as just a matter of skill and survival.
@@goatslayer3160 Liking women who can sing doesn't make you a simp. Giving favor and gifts to a woman who will lead you along but never give you anything is what makes you a simp.
@@darkwatershadow Well said, although my immediate reaction to Sylvain was so negative that I killed him off in the first battle and haven't used him since.
No interpretation needed, he's clearly a male tsundere and not an edgelord. Most of Felix's attitude comes from his desire to avoid closeness with others. Either because he finds other nobles buying into the idea of honor and glory to be stupid or because he wants to distance himself emotionally to avoid getting hurt like he did when he lost his brother. None of that's really an edgelord thing, it's just good characterization. His tsundere tropes play into that a little since he presents a colder exterior to most people, but he clearly warms up to others while denying it just like a tsundere. His supports with Lysithea are especially notable that way too. He eats the candy but doesn't want to admit how good it is until she overwhelms him and basically forces him to try a ton of new stuff. It's cute.
He is surrounded by people who glorify his older brothers death, and worship a beast(Dimitri) of course he'd be like this. An exception being Annetee who doesn't do that and happens to sing beautiful which he loved in a woman. Finding comfort in someone who doesn't pester him about the things he hates. Id be the same way if I were in his position. He isn't Deen or Lonqu levels of edgy
30:52 Ingrid loves food, but she also has many other things going for her like her relationship with her gang, her brother, prejudices, and the duty/passion dilemma, so it doesn't become a mono-character trait. I find her a very rich character by modern FE standards to be honest. My favourite food moment is when she seeks Byleth's advice post-timeskip because her favourite meat stall closed down due to the war and she doesn't have 'anything to live for anymore'. She's my spirit animal.
That’s what I really love about ingrid she isn’t super one note. She has many things going for her that actually make her feel like a person instead of some over the top troupe
She's great. I feel like the only one note character in this game is Cyril. Everyone else is very well realized and fleshed out with maybe a few minor exceptions (never warmed up to Lorenz). Most of the characters who seem to be defined by one trait or joke end up being a lot more complex once you start getting into their supports. Even people like Lindhart and Bernadetta who clearly have a gimmick are more than just the one joke. Some of them even change a bit post timeskip to show that they've matured a bit. It's definitely become one of my all time favorite fire emblem casts, which is funny because coming into the game I wasn't really drawn to many of the character designs. My only gripes are that after the timeskip Mercedes loses her awesome braid and Constance's hair style isn't as cute. You can put them in their old outfits but it feels weird because they're shorter. I like a lot of the timeskip outfits too since it's more personal style and less of a uniform thing but those hair styles were perfect.
Another time the trait pops up is with Felix when he says "Whenever food becomes the topic, Ingrid gets this weird look in her eyes", it's so wholesome.
@@TheGamersState also when you talk to them during exploration, Felix says that food is all she thinks about. When Ingrid insists that she thinks about all kinds of things, Felix straight up goes "oh, like tomorrow's menu?". Cracks me up every time.
9:00 Fraudarius sounds really funny to me, because in Portuguese, Fralda means diapers, and Fraudario means a room where you can change your baby diapers.
@@waddledottz This. Being able to lockpick is just a non-skill in this game lol. Hell you don't even need to buy keys if you play with Online enabled. You drown in door and chest keys if you stand on the purple tiles in battle and use the amiibo gazebo.
What I like about Sylvain is that he's the kind of character where you don't agree with what he does, but understand why he does them. And that's just inherently interesting, cause that's how real people are sometimes. He's kind of like Berkut in that regard, which makes you think cause maybe if the other Blue Lions and the professor weren't there to keep him anchored he could've become a villain
@@silversword404 Ingrid has 35 str growth. Also, Ingrid has a lot more gimmick supports when around out-of-house allies. I think the writers do that to an extent for most characters. There are like 1000 supports or something and at a certain point you just have to pump out filler supports for uncommon teammate pairings. Like for example, if you are playing with both Raphael and Ingrid on your team(probably like 1/300 players will have this happen), they _DO_ have very, very foody supports.
I love Felix. A support convo with Ashe stuck with me, where he says "Be more moderate with your passions!". When he rants I feel like its cause he cares not just to be mean. Okay maybe I also just like the edge that he brings ^_^
31:13 Yeah, that trait was in several supports. What's more, all her supports in FEH are based around entering club of funny eating girls (Ilyana, Effie, Rinkah, etc.)
Mercedes as a healer is one of the only two who get Fortify at A-rank faith, which makes her stand out even more. She also gets physic and Restore, making her very versatile, and she gets Fire, Thunder and Bolganone all at only C rank Reason, so she always has something to do. Only thing she is missing is Warp utility.
You’re seriously underrating the insane value that Dedue brings to the Blue Lions in the late game in the form of Vengeance. His HP is already so massive that he can easily start hitting for over 100 damage after miracle.
@@Emi_Tempi First of all it's rating in the context of BL so Bernadetta obviously doesn't apply. Second of all at least Dedue doesn't have to sacrifice his character to such an absurd degree to get viability
Only problem is that it's unreliable. Miracle can't be relied on because it's luck based, and most characters have at most 30-35, which means only a 1 in 3 chance of a proc. And I find there tends to be quite a bit of magic coverage in 3H maps, so your armored units are basically corralled until your mage killers clear the way. Deduce is an unfortunate victim of this as he doesn't have the Res to survive more than two large magic attacks. He can definitely work as a physical tank, but using him can be hard to justify when he goes missing for half of the war phase and you've probably got better bulky offense units like Sylvain already well developed.
Mangs Character ****, his support conversation are pretty slick. Design ***** who doesn't love an egg who lost weight post time skip? Power ***** i mean, fire emblem and advance wars It was top content.
To be fair, he has had a pretty rough childhood, his older brother Glenn, who he was pretty close with, died in the Tragedy of Duscur when he was 13, and his father Rodrigue always treated it as if it was some noble sacrifice to the king which Felix hated because it made it seem like he didn't care about Glenn to Felix which in turn caused a bitter rift between them so that's probably why he's so cold to those around him, but he does have some supports with people like Annette, Dorothea, and Lysithea that make him seem a lot warmer, he also does genuinely care about making sure his allies don't die, especially in his defence, deep down he is a good guy, he just doesn't like showing it.
I had the opposite experience with Dedue, where he became one of my strongest units in the second half. It's very easy to level him up in the extra missions, as his defense stat is so good that you can just put him on a heal tile and have him solo it, and is great for leveling up underused units, as you can just adjunct them during a Dedue solo.
Regarding Ashe in gameplay: Ashe gets a lot of flak for being "generic, average, with a useless personal in Locktouch," but he has a few solid attributes that can make him very good. First off, he has an Axe boon, meaning he can very easily get Death Blow from brigand quite early on (or at any time with little investment), making his player phase pretty strong. This combos well into putting him as a sniper (for hunter's volley) or even a Bow Knight, which he can reach fairly easily thanks to his hidden talent in Lances. Ashe is also one of only two units to get the Deadeye combat art (the other being Bernadetta), and Ashe can use this to great effect as a Bow Knight, sniping out key targets like bolting/meteor mages or enemies on ballistas. He needs a lot of +hit to get the job done, but with a +40 hit battalion and the +20 hit Archer mastery skill, you can see some decent hit rates even at 8 range, and then you just shoot and canto away. Or you can just make him a Wyvern Lord with a bow, that always works too. Ultimately Ashe doesn't have a ton of unique stuff about him, but the builds he does have available to him are just solid. The deadeye gimmick is the only real unique thing he has over most of the rest of the cast, as his other combat arts are just 1-turn debuffs which don't end up being that useful most of the time, though Shatter Slash can help with cheesing certain bosses as it's a -def debuff. Ashe was mediocre for me up until I got him into bow knight, but then after that he was taking MVP every map due to how much there was for him to snipe down. Naturally that's just my personal experience, your results may vary, but he does the Deadeye build much better than Bernadetta (the only other Deadeye-user in the game), at the cost of not really having any other big gimmick to fall back on.
Ingrid is just so cute, I wasn't sure what to think of her when I first saw her since I hadn't played that much FE at that point but she's just so fun to use and seeing artwork of her with Sylvain just warms my heart, easily my favorite character in FE3H and probably all of FE.
I’m not really sure what you mean calling Mercedes airheaded? She’s the most sympathetic and empathetic character in the game and is always thinking about how to help out the other characters
An airhead can also be somebody who's forgetful and absentminded. Which Mercedes is both. Also known as somebody with their head in the clouds more often than not
The ashe section was really funny to me ngl because he HARD carried my first BL run alongside Dimitri lol I think I just got hella RNG blessed but its still so funny to hear people complain about him as a unit when I've always had amazing results w him
I eagerly await the Golden Deer and Church/Teacher versions of this set of opinions on characters... partly because the Deer have some of the more interesting characters, and because the church/teacher is basically the catch-all for everyone-gets characters (and probably could be bundled with the Grey Wolves if you've got the DLC). Below this is my comments on certain students. Felix -- forever benched for me for a) the whole edgelord thing, b) the composite party in blue lions gets you a better swordy, and c) he's an edgelord. Ashe -- You're missing out a free door/chest opener (his passive is straight up the thief/assassin Lockpick), Blue Lion's natural bow (like Bernadetta is for Black Eagles), and is always directly affected by the pre-skip plot because his (adopted) father is directly involved in a pre-skip mission. Mercedes -- if you've got the Wolves dlc, it comes with a set of wonderful combat classes for her, two that lean towards healing even; I went for warpriest/warcleric with her, because of the melee skills, she's not got a negative with punching people. Without the DLC, she's more destined to be a healing focused Gremory. Annette -- I used her entirely because I have the DLC, so I could park her as a dark flier and zoom about to burnidate things, and get the heals where they need to; otherwise, she's also a decent gremory, but I basically benched her/didn't get her on the two pre-Blue Lions playthroughs I've done before now. Ingrid -- She's the melee flier that everyone, including Seteth, want to be when they grow up. I've not used her as a calvary, but I'm sure she'll probably do good there too... but she's just so good as both wyvern and pegasus riders, so it's hard, XD
My ratings: - Dimitri - 5/5/5 - An amazingly written character, obviously. However, I do agree they could've done a slightly better job with him. Making him desperate enough to do the things he did without turning him borderline insane with hearing voices and such would've worked better, IMO. The excessive edgyness the writers gave him didn't fit his character and getting out of that state wasn't convincing enough. Which doesn't take away from Dimitri himself, just the writing. Design-wise I don't think there's much else to be said, power-wise - same thing. He does struggle to double on Hard sometimes, but who needs doubling when you OHKO everything. - Dedue - 4/5/4 - Dedue's character is very linear and doesn't have much to offer, but what he does offer he offers really well. The "unwavering loyalty" type isn't anything groundbreaking and I do understand why Felix hates this trait so much, but Dedue isn't only there to take orders, he genuinely cares for Dimitri and will go out of his way to ask others for help calming his liege down or reigning him in. He doesn't always act on his own volition, but he is smart enough to understand that the orders Dimitri gives may one day ruin the future King. Design-wise an easy 5, Dedue looks very imposing standing at over 2 meters tall, and his post-timeskip design is just perfect. Stern-looking giant of a man covered in scars from countless battles. A true general of his Kingdom. Dedue's utility entirely depends on what class you assign him to, since he is one of those characters who only really fit a specific role and don't shine in any other class except the most obvious one - Fortress Knight, in his case. His defensive prowess is unmatched, which he proved in my Battle for Garreg Mach surviving two consecutive crits from Death Knight. However, I have to agree on the fact that the second part of the game is a lot harder for him with the abundance of long-range magic/ballistae and overall big scale of maps with his low movement. But, just like with his personality, if he's good at something - he's really good. The best physical tank in the game, without a doubt. - Felix - 2/5/4 - Pretty much everything Mangs said applies here, Felix's personality is not something I'm too fond of. I understand the occasional need to be left alone, but at times he really goes overboard insulting other people. Constantly repeating "I don't care" and "only training has meaning" gets very annoying over time. Yeah, I get it, you're mad at your father and blame him for your brother's death, but all these students didn't kill Glenn. Jeez. And people think Leonie is annoying. Which, by the way, Felix's support with Leonie is one of the few that doesn't make me wanna toss my Switch across the room. But that's hardly thanks to Felix. Design-wise - again, 5, he looks great, no complaints from me. Utility-wise -interestingly enough, he has never really turned out all that impressive for me. Yeah, sure, he hits like a truck, but his survivability leaves a lot to be desired, his defenses aren't great without the Aegis shield, but that thing slows him down and hampers his avoid, so it's like you either don't kill everything or you do, but then immediately die. A weird combo. Strong early-game, lackluster late-game. Therefore 4/5. - Sylvain - 5/5/5 - Same thing as Felix, Mangs has pretty much covered everything that can be said about him. Sylvain is much more than what he seems, and to see that you have to dig deep, but digging is well worth it. He's very handsome, so 5 stars for looks, and he's a great unit. I usually assign him to Wyvern Rider class to have him paired up with my Falcon Knight Ingrid and clear half the map just using these two. Ingrid gets rid of any mages, Sylvain deletes everything physically-based, and having a support + spamming Alert Stance just works wonders. He does struggle with hit rates, but nothing a couple Secret Books can't fix. - Ashe - 3/5/2 - Ashe is far from my favorite character, but I wouldn't go as far as to say he is irredeemable at 1 star. Sure, there's not much to say about him except that he's a nice guy, and him nagging about Knight tales also gets old very quickly, HOWEVER there's this thing called the Lonato arc and his following support with Catherine. Damn that shit hits hard. That's the only time you see the real Ashe with all his anger, frustration and confusion, because as much as he loves helping others, he doesn't know how to help himself cope. Him being pretty much the only Blue Lions student openly happy to join Edelgard against the church says a lot. His design is likeable (but I'm honestly very easy to please when it comes to how everyone looks ih 3H, so pretty much everything will get a 5 from me). Utility-wise - I'm sorry, but he's just terrible. By far the weakest student in the game (maybe after Ignatz. maybe.) with shit bases and equally shit growths. The only way to make him viable is make him a Wyvern Rider/Lord, but that class can fix anyone, so it doesn't count. 2 stars from me, and I'm being generous. - Mercedes - 2/4/5 - PM1 would hate me for this, but I'm sorry, Mercedes fans, she is just boring. Sure, just like everyone, she does have her moments like trolling Lorenz and Ferdinand, but every time I hear her "Oh!" I automatically roll my eyes. Yeah, she's kind and gentle and everything, but she tries so much to take care of everyone that she loses herself behind that uncontrollable desire to be helpful. Not much I can say about her, really. Design-wise - have to agree with those who don't quite like her post-timeskip design. Even her portrait looks kinda weird. Her utility is stellar though. Usually turns out a better mage than Annette thanks to having higher Speed and her healing spells are, of course, something a player can always rely on. - Annette - 3/5/4 - Annette's personality leaves me with mixed feelings. I can't particularly dislike her for anything but the "do my best" attitude goes over the top sometimes, because pretty much all of her supports are about doing her best - Byleth, Lysithea, Hanneman, Caspar. There's not that much to go off of when it comes to her supports (and she doesn't even have a support with Lorenz despite him also studying at the school of sorcery, what the hell, 3H?), so for me in certain areas Annette kinda lacks depth. But I have to admit that her dynamic with Gilbert is something that compensates for that, especially if you recruit her in Crimson Flower. Design - 5 stars, she's very cute. Utility - have to give a 4 here. She isn't Lysithea-tier nuke, but she can hit hard and crits quite often being a Wind magic specialist, Excalibur is a nice spell against enemy wyverns. I always failed to make a use out of her prf Relic, Crusher. Most of the time she can do her job well enough from a distance by using spells or even a Bolt Axe. Going in melee for the sake of hitting on the enemy's Res rarely comes in handy. Her downsides are poor movement, which all mages in 3H share, mediocre Speed and far from impressive bulk. - Ingree - 4/5/4 - I like her, but can't say I'm very impressed with her. I can appreciate the fact that she is not a downer - on the contrary, she takes it upon herself to lift everyone's spirits (except Dedue, poor guy), and even when talking to Mercie or Seteth about not really knowing what to do with her life she is uncertain but not fatalistic. Answering your question, Mangs - her love for food is indeed brought up quite often, especially in supports with Rafael (obviously) and Yuri. Also, she has one of the best lines for Byleth after Jeralt's death. Design - 5 stars, nothing to think about. Utility-wise she is very inconsistent due to having shaky growths. She either turns out an unstoppable monster of a unit, one-rounding everything from any range or she ends up not leveling Strength, and then her Speed becomes useless (0x2 is still 0, ya know). It's always been 50/50 from me, but when she's good - she's REALLY good. With that, the rating is over. If ANYONE had enough time to waste reading this essay, thank you and have a nice day!
Overall with Utility Mercedes lacking warp or rescue really hampers her utility for me, all she really does is heal, heavily prefer Marianne for Aura and Silence or Linhardt for warp. Also with Felix War master is his best path and it gives me a lot more bulk and the auto doubling with gauntlets is even better for him with his crest. Let's him double squishier units for the one round and quad bulkier ones also for the one round and he stays a 5/5 all game long, just make sure to grab death blow. Overall I agree with you for the most part other than I just really like Annette personally. To each their own of course :)
@@twigz3214 True, but stuff like Warp or Rescue isn't something mandatory with other ways of increasing units' movement, the main one being Stride gambit, of course. Sure, different playstyles have different requirements, but I never really use those spells anyway, so Mercie not having them isn't a big issue in my book. I prefer to use her as an offensive unit, melting down enemy Paladins or Fortress Knights. War Master Felix is something I never tested out, so thanks for the idea, I'll give it a try on my next playthrough! Haha, it's all good, no worries. It's not like I dislike or hate her at all, tbh. And if nothing else it's another compliment to the game for making so many likeable characters for so many people with different tastes (:
While I do think you were too hard on Ashe (he's my baby and that will never change) it is nice to see someone not bashing on Ingrid so I say it balances out. Great vid!
Mangs: Ingrid probably has the most attractive voice in FE3H. Me: Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well. And then when he said he preferred her pre-time skip design to her post-time skip. Bruh, same!
I know he’s technically not a student, but why does everyone leave out Gilbert when talking about the Blue Lion units? He’s only available in the Blue Lions route post timeskip and before Jeritza became available to use in the Black Eagles, he was the only route exclusive character in the whole game that wasn’t a student.
"He is literally a unit designed to delete other units" to add to that Dimitri is the only unit with a unique crest effect and that effect literally gives you a miniature critical hit when using combat arts that can stack on top of a critical hit. Plus he has the highest stat cap for str within the entire cast of characters and the highest str growth
Dedue is amazing post time skip. He does fall off with the amount of mages late game, but he's solid, especially if you give him Warmaster mastery and keep him as a tank, he's terrifying against physical dmg enemies.
You know what I can accept the the treatment you gave to Ash. I feel very much the same with that guy from the golden deer who is obviously obsessed with the color purple. I do have to note that he's voice can get tiring quickly which is a bummer. However, you did miss a cool nugget of backstory. More than likely it's already been mentioned or even fully explained, but he did go from rags to riches. He grew up on the streets stealing to survive into lord lenado found him and adopted him. Its because of the one act of kindness that drove him to show others the same kindness. Food for thought.... or not.
I made ashe an assasin and he was pretty good. Took a lot of grinding though. He is definately on the weaker side early-mid game. I dont use him in my new playthrough that much bc it takes a lot of effort to build him well, in my case at least.
@@catfish8716 he was a really good unit for me when I put the effort but it was hard mode and hard mode in FE3H is alright. I like Ashe especially in his supports with Petra and Sylvain
I think he's better as a wyvern He does have advantages with axes And the class fixes a lot of his growths problem Since He has high dex He Will crit a lot
@@kendjacedric8813 Yeah, he really shines most as someone that wields a bow while in axe classes, shoring up his Str while still having enough Dex to not miss as he relies on axe weapon might and use Deadeye on occasion. Wyvern pairs well with his utility applications and makes him a mobile artillery/mini Claude, so best all-around pick. (Honestly, he'd make a lot of sense for male Pegasus Knight, with the good Res. Gotta hate gender locking.) Although, if you really want to be extra on a given playthrough, you can train him to be a War Master just for the non-weapon-locked crit bonus. Or, if you want to be a bit silly without going against strengths and weaknesses, make him a Great Knight (higher Res units in Armor can be surprisingly more usable than you might expect, probably want to certify Fortress line for the base stat Def bonus while playing Paladin line). All he wants to do is be a great knight.
My best use of Ashe was he was a flying thief, and one of the post timeskip fortress maps, the one Dedue returns, has a ballista where the archer spawns later. This archer does not move so if a wyvern rider is in that spot you keep the ballista and no other enemies are in range to attack him. Aside from that I used him like Wolt, just chip until he becomes an adjudant
Correct me if something like this exists in fe, but I have a concept for a game/map that in my mind sounds really cool. You would control two armies akin to gaiden/echoes, but they would be at war with each other. In one map, you would control both armies at the same time, and the two groups are capable of harming the other. No other enemies. The map would be complete once X amount of units were killed. Essentially, you would get to know and love these characters before the game reminds you “this is war bitch” and you have to pick and choose who kills who, sad dialogue about regretting having to fight and not wanting to die along with it. The big bad demon prince or whatever could interrupt the battle as part of the narrative. Just a thought I had :)
10:10 when Mangs said he had 2 reasons to warm up to Felix I was surprised. Surely the egg did not just understand a character better than the most superficial way to look at him. Surely not did Mangs truly grasp how Felix acts, what made him that way and the sheer amount of love this character has for the person he (understandably) lashes out to the most. The point. "He likes girls that sing and I like girls that sing :)". Never change Mangs, never change
I would really like to see this kind of video with the characters from the remaining three houses (...you know what I mean) from you :) I also sadly can't put into words why, but I really feel the exact same way with Ashe (with minimal exposure to him in my experience with the game so far) as you described.
31:12 oh yea bruh they do show that ingrid likes to eat a bit when she talks to Felix in the monastery also at her interaction with male byleth at the goddess tower pre ts.
Ingrid Does show up some interest in food sometimes, I recall mostly an interaction she has with Felix in the entrance hall in the mid pre time skip (can't record exactly the chapter, but Felix kinda "bant" her for eating up a lot). A good support with her is also with Dedue, has she resent hatred toward Duscur people who killed Glen (I think? Felix older brother and as I record her fiance), that kinda actually put here on a "Jill PoR" position in term of developement, which is by no mean a bad thing :)
Ashe is the most vanilla character. I did like him but he was pretty generic. Also Mangs reaction to Ashe is the same one I had with Anette. Found her way too bubbly for my tastes and benched her immediately.
My problem with Mercedes is definitely the voice. Her VA is very talented having done Rinea before, and honestly they should've gone with the same voice direction. The Rinea voice would work pretty well
Ashe's whole personality is that he's a "gud boi" and while that's fine, that all he ever amounts to; just fine. He kinda reminds me of Tobey Maguire's version of Peter Parker. Gameplay wise, he's an acceptable combat unit with utility through lock picking and an affinity towards Wyvern. Really solid, but not a stand out player.
Ashe for me was a crit machine as an archer and eventually bow knight, I think I got some good stat rolls and I don't think he's on the same level as some other units but I found a use for him in battles with lots of flyers and for using him as a backliner that could use stride gambits to help my team close the distance.
@@blizzfreak245 Yes, Ashe arguably makes the best use of Stride as he's not powerful enough on his own to make great use of it and his access to Wyvern means he'll always be able to catch up and use it again if need be or grab chests more easily. I think he's fantastic for his utility, if nothing else.
33:46 if you ask me, I found that you did a really good job at convaying that this is your opinion and not the fan base's opinion, so no I don't really hate this video. On top of that taste in fire emblem is alwase really subjective. Some ppl hates ingrid, thats fine its them, but if you like her, don't be afraid to say it.
My own thoughts: Dimitri: S. I love that he starts out as the typical prince-charming Fire Emblem Lord and then goes full edgelord post-timeskip. The madlad just ran around critting everything for days! Plus his support with Marianne is beautiful. Dedue: A. Hot take: Azure Moon tackled racism better than Verdant Wind. Claude wants to open Fodlan up and break down prejudices between Fodlan and outsiders, but because Verdant Wind is a copy of Silver Snow, we don't see that prejudice at all during this route. (Remember Petra and Cyril are optional on this route.) The Tragedy of Duscur is a main plot point in Azure moon, Dimitri is haunted and ashamed by it, and wants to reconcile and atone for it. Dedue as a living reminder of that. Even during the school phase, some of the church staff will make scathing remarks about Dedue behind his back. Also, the chad as large enough balls to solo Enbarr if you let him. As a unit, he's good. His personal skill makes him a perfect tank, especially if you set him up with Retribution and Quick Riposte. Felix: D. I'm sorry, but I hate this type of edgelord. He reminds me of those kids who lurk on social media and post edgy hot-takes and shits on his friends at every opportunity. Plus, he has the "I must train and become stronger!" personality trait. Boring. It honestly shook me when Byleth asks him "And then what?" when you talk about his training. Still, he was a great unit. Unlike other crests, his activates reliably often, so even if you're in a class like Assassin, he'll still hit really hard. Ashe: B. If he was a dog, he'd be a Labrador. He's just so wholesome and down to earth! I do find him to be a static character, though; everyone else changes around him while he mostly stays the same. As a Bow Knight or Wyvern Lord, he's great at harassing units from afar with Deadeye. Sylvain: A. Wow, this guy subverted my expectations. I though he was going to be flaky and shallow, but he's pretty deep, cynical and surprisingly intuitive. Paladins as always welcome on my teams, so he had no problem fitting in. Mercedes: C. She's a sweetheart, I love her to bits, but I am tired of the "Precious Cinnamon Bun" Cleric archetype. Similar to Ashe, she is a static character; everyone else develops around her while she mostly stays put. Physic and Fortify are overkill but always welcome. Annette: B. The main thing that upsets me about Annette is her support with Mercedes. The quarrel and breakup should have been a B and B+ level so that it doesn't look like they stewed over an easy misunderstanding for five years. If you recruit Lysithea, Constance or Hapi to Blue Lions, you'll be shooting yourself in the foot because she just can't compare in terms of stats and spells, but she does her job well, regardless. Ingrid. B. I don't know why, but I just found her boring. Maybe it's because she's the more realistic and sane person compared to everyone else. The only thing that stood out to me was the fact that she fires back when Felix talks smack to her in their support. Pegasus Knights are always welcome and I gave her a bow in my playthrough, so it was hit and run for days.
That's actually the first time I've heard you say Ingree myself, and I personally really like that way of pronouncing it. At least to my cultureless American ***, Ingree sounds exotic and thus automatically makes her more interesting to me.
One thing I love about Annette that will never not be funny to me is the fact that her crest weapon is a freaking magic hammer. Just the image of this tiny mage girl running around the battlefield with this behemoth of a hammer always gets a chuckle out of me xD
I tried to use ashe in my playthrough. He got 3 points of strength in a little under 30 level up. I've never been so stat screwed in any of my playthroughs lol.
I personally found Dimitri insufferable as a human being. My second playthrough was Blue Lions, and I felt sick to my stomach for most of it, and it really took the wind out of my sails in wanting to do a third. Dedue was one of the most wholesome characters to me, just as you said. Absolute hubby material. I think my biggest problem with this toute, aside from a lack of memorable and likable characters, was its lack of power units. I wound up replacing many characters with Church units for that reason. The casters were especially underwhelming, and Sylvain was really only useful as a Dancer. Felix did somehow manage to make the Mortal Savant class worthwhile, but his character was nearly as insufferable as Dimitri until the late game. I totally agree with you about his supports- the good and the bad both. I took Ashe on both my Black Eagle and Blue Lion routes, and I found that he did a lot of kill stealing in a similar manner as you mentioned with Felix. His character was okay to me, but as a raw unit, he trivialized a lot of the game for me, and I especially enjoyed his ability to unlock chests and doors without a key. This really came into play once I put him on a wyvern, and sending him as an errand boy treasure hunter around the map helped to mitigate his tendency to steal kills. Ingrid's power level is a slow burn, but she becomes ridiculous by the end of the game. I really enjoyed your breakdown on Sylvain's personality.
Hey everyone. I had this video ready to be uploaded for a while, I just had so much Advance Wars content I wanted to do, so it kept getting pushed back. However, I think it's time to give the Fire Emblem fans some content, you guys have been very patient.

So basically he has a soft spot for girls who are cute or can sing.
Felix is secretly a simp.

Wait what!?
An actual Fire Emblem video in 2021?!??!?!?!?!
Advance Wars is the better chest knockoff.
In my eyes Felix is a Tsundere rather than an Edgelord
Same. Though honestly that's my biggest problem with Felix as I don't really like Tsunderes. Though if you like him, no offense.
¿porque no los dos?
It's cute.
Those two things are not at odds with each other. Most male Tsunderes are edgelords.
its not like i like you or anything baka.
Wait so Mangs actually made a FE video, what a REVELATION! I sure hope to see what will come out of this twist of Fates.

Felix isn't an edgelord. He just never likes appealing and praising the dead. Yes, he is hard to approach, but he never was a nihilist.
Irritable douche is probably much better way to describe him
He is surrounded by people who glorify his older brothers death, and worship a beast(Dimitri) of course he'd be like this. An exception being Annetee who doesn't do that and happens to sing beautiful which he loved in a woman. Finding comfort in someone who doesn't pester him about the things he hates. Id be the same way if I were in his position. He isn't Deen or Lonqu levels of edgy
I am really excited to see my favorite Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim youtuber branching out into Fire Emblem!

holy shit you just dug one of the forgotten games in my mind
Dedue looks like younger Hawke. Maybe his plan all along to conquer wars world was so he could have land for his people
so thats how Black Hole infiltrated Blue Moon.
This makes too much sense. Faar too much.

Ingrid is very "foody" in for example, her supports with Yuri
She's got a bunch of, dont dare waste food I grew up poor and often hungry.
Along with having a 45 percent strength growth and being racist
Still waiting for Golden deer XD
31:13 Yeah, that trait was in several supports. What's more, all her supports in FEH are based around entering club of funny eating girls (Ilyana, Effie, Rinkah, etc.)
Even her Smash spirit was about summoning food and eating
Mercedes as a healer is one of the only two who get Fortify at A-rank faith, which makes her stand out even more. She also gets physic and Restore, making her very versatile, and she gets Fire, Thunder and Bolganone all at only C rank Reason, so she always has something to do. Only thing she is missing is Warp utility.
Took the words right out my mouth. I made her into a Gremory and with her massive res stat she was a great Bolting/Meteor bait
You’re seriously underrating the insane value that Dedue brings to the Blue Lions in the late game in the form of Vengeance. His HP is already so massive that he can easily start hitting for over 100 damage after miracle.
Bernadetta: "Look at what he has to do to mimic a fraction of my power!"
@@Emi_Tempi First of all it's rating in the context of BL so Bernadetta obviously doesn't apply. Second of all at least Dedue doesn't have to sacrifice his character to such an absurd degree to get viability
@@Emi_Tempi Yeah, more like, the other way around
@@advaithsreeram5634 Sorry, I rather pass and canto than any Armor Knight.

When I first played, I picked blue lions and was surprised how much I liked Annette. She was such a loving character and she just made me feel good.
Thank you for the time stamps, I'll be playing Blue Lions next playthrough.
If Felix wasn't rude 90% of the time, then he would be rated higher. Too often those he's rude to those who don't deserve it.
Isn't he nice to only little girls? Or is he nice to all young people as well (Cyril)?
Thanks for the ratings ♥️ I'll do my best to improve even further 💪🏻
Fire Emblem in MY Advance Wars channel??? Heresy!
Nos devemos conquista esse canal
I had the opposite experience with Dedue, where he became one of my strongest units in the second half. It's very easy to level him up in the extra missions, as his defense stat is so good that you can just put him on a heal tile and have him solo it, and is great for leveling up underused units, as you can just adjunct them during a Dedue solo.
Dedu is someone who appeals to you and is exciting after time goes on… then you play crimson and you really love him
Regarding Ashe in gameplay:
Ashe gets a lot of flak for being "generic, average, with a useless personal in Locktouch," but he has a few solid attributes that can make him very good.
15:00 All I can think of is "Flying lockpicker" unfortunately

Ingrid is just so cute, I wasn't sure what to think of her when I first saw her since I hadn't played that much FE at that point but she's just so fun to use and seeing artwork of her with Sylvain just warms my heart, easily my favorite character in FE3H and probably all of FE.
When I did Blue Lions, I made Sylvain a dancer and he was incredibly tanky. I feel it was a good choice for his personality, too.
Give ingrid's supports (especially with raphael) another look, you'll see the food thing there.
I’m not really sure what you mean calling Mercedes airheaded? She’s the most sympathetic and empathetic character in the game and is always thinking about how to help out the other characters

The ashe section was really funny to me ngl because he HARD carried my first BL run alongside Dimitri lol
I think I just got hella RNG blessed but its still so funny to hear people complain about him as a unit when I've always had amazing results w him
I eagerly await the Golden Deer and Church/Teacher versions of this set of opinions on characters... partly because the Deer have some of the more interesting characters, and because the church/teacher is basically the catch-all for everyone-gets characters (and probably could be bundled with the Grey Wolves if you've got the DLC).
I feel the same when Annette says I'm your girl. Gets me every time 😍
God your editor is amazing
I thought it was obvious that Ingrid has an affinity for food. She mentions it a lot. Just not to the point of it being overbearing like Raphael.
My ratings:
- Dimitri - 5/5/5 - An amazingly written character, obviously.
That s why I love Ingrid S2.Thanks for the amazing Blue Lions review Mangs it was amazing too watch
Bruh, same!
will you do this with golden deer?
The only thing I'd say bad about Felix's it's really hard to setup lower level characters for kills with him
Ashe makes me wanna steal his lunch money and put him in a locker
Stuff him in there with ignatz
from the first few interactions i had with Annette, i knew she was gonna be my S-Support in my first playthrough
He is a knights of seiros character when you first meet him.
I love using him. I point him in one direction and everything dies
How about a student that can cap with tanks and drive battleships on land?
Food for thought.... or not.
I like Ashe but I’m really curious on the reason you don’t exactly.
Ingrid's food love definitely shows up. You just missed it.
YOU FORGOT TO SAY NO HOMO WHEN RATING DIMITRI
Ingrid is 5/5 all round, she has consistently been one of best units, especially as a Pegasus knight.
When mangs was talking about Dimitri's power I was disappointed that he didn't say Dimitri will kill every last one of them
The 4th video could be about the remaining playable characters and Byleth.
I made ashe an assasin and he was pretty good. Took a lot of grinding though. He is definately on the weaker side early-mid game. I dont use him in my new playthrough that much bc it takes a lot of effort to build him well, in my case at least.
Ashe is my favorite Blue Lion, so i always make the effort to use him. Same with Wolt when i play FE6. I guess mediocre-at-best archers are my type.
@@catfish8716 he was a really good unit for me when I put the effort but it was hard mode and hard mode in FE3H is alright. I like Ashe especially in his supports with Petra and Sylvain
I think he's better as a wyvern
He does have advantages with axes
And the class fixes a lot of his growths problem
Since He has high dex He Will crit a lot
@@kendjacedric8813 Yeah, he really shines most as someone that wields a bow while in axe classes, shoring up his Str while still having enough Dex to not miss as he relies on axe weapon might and use Deadeye on occasion. Wyvern pairs well with his utility applications and makes him a mobile artillery/mini Claude, so best all-around pick. (Honestly, he'd make a lot of sense for male Pegasus Knight, with the good Res. Gotta hate gender locking.)
Although, if you really want to be extra on a given playthrough, you can train him to be a War Master just for the non-weapon-locked crit bonus.
"Took grinding" at that point I stopped reading. But I liked him as a servicable von knight
Dimitri Spotlight when? We haven't gotten it yet
Where´s the golden deer video?
Ingrid Does show up some interest in food sometimes, I recall mostly an interaction she has with Felix in the entrance hall in the mid pre time skip (can't record exactly the chapter, but Felix kinda "bant" her for eating up a lot).
A good support with her is also with Dedue, has she resent hatred toward Duscur people who killed Glen (I think? Felix older brother and as I record her fiance), that kinda actually put here on a "Jill PoR" position in term of developement, which is by no mean a bad thing :)
Golden deer when?
However, put a bunch of criticism stuff on him, and the guy hits like a truck!
My own thoughts:
Dimitri: S.
I’m now imagining Mangs and Bethany fighting each other for Dimitri’s love.
That's actually the first time I've heard you say Ingree myself, and I personally really like that way of pronouncing it. At least to my cultureless American ***, Ingree sounds exotic and thus automatically makes her more interesting to me.
It would makes sense to have a 4th of these for all the remaining characters. Ashen wolves, teachers, etc.
You're making me wanna play this game again
Wow... perfect timing for my Blue Lions Rest Only Iron Man (as in “Main missions only”)!
Edit: nvm... Death Knight landed a 13% Crit :^)
