- Back in 1985, The Washington State Department of Transportation drove East on SR-908 and recorded video to document the highway. This was part of a project that photographed/videotaped the states highways every couple of years. This video now resides at The Washington State Archives who were kind enough to share it.
Living and driving in Redmond and Kirkland, I could see some similarities between Kirkland back then and now, but Redmond, I hardly even recognize the street layout between then and now!
2024 - 1985 = 39 years ago. LOL!
That’s so interesting, I grew up around there and was 7 that year
2:57 wouldnt this have been where Kidd valley was? (now Ivar's) on the right on that corner? Does anyone know if was built after this time? I thought it would have been here way before this even.
it was just a corner filled with trees and bushes at this time. hahahahaha
Super 24 @ 3:45
This is the Kirkland I remember!
❤
The town of Microsoft!
Moss bay days was the best
I remember watching the “Moss Bay Monster” emerge from Lake Washington! Did you watch it too? Good times!
the small carnival that would show up, the biker gangs, and all the night time partying - was a blast!
wow...what a throwback. The boulve...the gas stations that are still there,...the army navy store! The definition of the video is amazing...wonder what high end camera they used. The commentary is pretty hilarious...like the OG Google Maps!
And to think after all these years, I STILL live along this route through
Kirkland.
This was my drive for 15 years.
I miss those days
Wow this is crazy growing up here. The difference is night and day
I was born in 81, this brought tears to my eyes, not sure why. I guess reminiscing on how wonder Kirkland was as a small town, and the charm it had before the wealthy took it over.
I understand. I had a great time during my childhood in Kirkland in the 80s ❤
Where do you live, now?
Big ol' station wagon on the right
flakey jakes on the left at 14:25
I remember Flakey Jakes and Braziers Broiler before it changed to Billy Mc Hales. All gone now.
