    I will say the tragedy of Rosemary Kennedy (JFK's sister) is what led to us getting the Americans with Disabilities Act. While Rosemary's trauma never should have happened, her siblings took it very seriously and the work was done to try and protect others.

    36:01 yes, I can attest that there are some valid reasons why you would build a case without your partner knowing. My mom had been in and emotionally abusive relationship. When she brought up wanting to get a divorce, it got worse, and she became scared for her safety. After that, she stopped discussions, but recorded all of his arguments with her that were unwarranted. And secretly filed for divorce with a lawyer and later served him the documents. In those circumstances, I think it is more than appropriate to build a case, and file for divorce without the partners knowledge.

    For the first story, im the older sister and we're 5, 10, 20 years apart with my sisters. Since i choose my friends based on the values (i value) i know them long and well enough to know that they're good people hence would not think bad of my friend being in a relationship with my 5y younger sister. I would be mad if they hide it to me but whatever goes on my sister bed or my friends bed IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS.

    Honestly, it's so weird to me to date your friend's sibling. It seems like such a bad idea, especially considering how messy it can get. What happens when you're fighting and you want to vent to your friends? You likely can't talk to that friend without making it weird. And if you two have a bad breakup, you're putting the friend in a position to have to choose between you and their sibling.

    My best friend sleeping wanting to date my younger sibling or slept with my younger sibling with out telling me we’re not friends anymore. The fact that OP kept it secret for soooo long tells you she knew it was wrong otherwise why not say anything from jump. That immediately changes the dynamic of any friendship you had with her, and possibly the relationship she has with her brother if it ends poorly.

    • @brett8259
      @brett8259 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I also want to add that I feel like some of the story is missing because the friend accused her specifically of using her brother. I want to know if something's happened in the past that made her lifelong friend say this.

    • @babytooty04
      @babytooty04 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I agree. It's very wrong all around. The friend had a right to want to be with whoever, but with a 20 year friendship is involved, you have to really think about the consequences.
      Plus I think the whole babytrapping is valid. OP is 30 and her babyclock is ticking. If she truly falls for friends younger brother she will want baby and more with him because of time span

      @@SunBeeSmokedIf you're close to your friend or sibling, it definitely is your business. Advice will be asked, stories will be shared, and secrets may be dropped. It's the exact same situation as any other time a close friend or sibling get into a relationship, but in a situation like this you now have to weight which person is more important to you. It can work but just like when two friends get together, it can get extremely messy.

    For people in smaller cities its actually common for friends to date their friends siblings. Smalller social circles/ smaller dating pools often create this dynamic.
    They are all adults so the 30+ year old friend needs to be more mature, and give space to the adults in her life. The friend is giving main character vibes.

    my old friend started dating and then married a guy who was friends with her older sister who knew her as a child and was 8 years older than her. To put it into perspective of how the first one is weird with the age gap with the relationship is like, yeah their current age gap isn’t weird BUT she would have been around him when she was 20 and he was 14, when he was 16 and when she was 22, and so on.
    My old friend got with this dude when she was 22 and he was 30, which isn’t like the worst age gap but the fact that she thought he was cool when she was younger and he was around her a lot as she grew up. The type of relationship dynamic where you watched this person grow up and were around them and then when they hit adulthood you start dating them is very groomy and weird. The imbalance in their relationship was also very evident even though she didn’t share much until she divorced him.
    If it was like the brother was like 2 years younger than them I do not think it would be as weird

    I didn't really expect John and Seans responses to the first story tbh. You wouldn't "allow" your (hypothetical) sibling to date some of your friends? Like Josh said, your sibling is their own person, but also, why are you friends with people you wouldn't trust to treat your sibling right? Maybe that's too black and white of me to think like that, but it just really rubbed me the wrong way.
