“Operation Iraqi freedom” was the saintly title for the brutal invasion of Iraq. “Operation unified protector” was the angelic name for the destruction of Libya.
“Operation enduring freedom” was the virtuous name given to the unjust invasion of Afghanistan. All in the name of democracy

When Vijay Prasad mentioned the US' "provisional principles", it immediately reminded me of Condoleeza Rice's convenient justification when asked why the US didn't follow its stated principle. She said, "The equation has changed."
No wonder Lavrov said the US was agreement incapable, and there's a worldwide stampede to dedollarize.

It's not about profits. Yes, the MIC has a powerful lobby, but this is about much more.
This has to do with American geopolitics. The US fears that when it and China get embroiled into security competition (and possibly war), Europe and/or Russia may become the laughing thirds. This is why it seeks to embroil Europe and Russia into a war with each other. Why else would the US seek to remove the key to eastern European stability: a neutral Ukraine, and do its utmost to boycot any chance of a peaceful or diplomatic solution?
It's cut in dry, folks. The US has been using these methods for decades, and they're described in detail in works by Mackinder, Wolfowitz, Brzezinski, etc. - divide et impera on the Eurasian continent is the key to US hegemony and with the US global position under pressure, this is what it will aim to do.
Blaming it on the MIC is easy, and basically turns you into a 'useful idiot' by not recognizing the very real geopolitical struggle that underlies it all.

I've posted this elsewhere, but on the topic of Russia's "invasion":
Let's stop calling Russian movements into Ukraine an "invasion": it was the USA that invaded the Ukraine and violated its sovereignty (after several attempts, finally in 2014, with Victoria Nuland electing her own government for the whole of the country).
The actual people of Donetsk and Lugansk, after finally having declared sovereignty--and after having merely asked for autonomy--from the Ukrainian government, asked for Russian assistance.
What Russia is doing now is actual liberation, unlike what the Americans do, as in "Operation Iraqi Freedom."

The USSR ethnically cleansed Tartars from Crimea, and colonized it with Russians. The Holdomor hit the Donbas region hard, genociding much of the population, and they brought in Russians to colonize it. Both the Empire and the USSR also pushed Russification in Ukraine. Putin has just come back to finish the job, and you're supporting Russian Imperialism and colonialism.
Russia has been violently interfering in former SSR countries since 1991. Putin thinks all the former SSRs should belong to Russia. He has been trying to expand Russia's borders back to meet the NATO borders, so his claims about not wanting NATO on his border are ridiculous. He just doesn't want NATO in countries he wants back.
Ukraine's president had said he would support Ukraine joining the EU. Putin then blockaded trade to Ukraine, until he flipped his position. When he did, people protested. One American diplomat, with a plate of cookies, didn't cause what happened. Putin's blockade did.

That's easy, If you could convince people to lend you money to pay them for their goods and services and someone who lives in the neighborhood provides them with a product, that you are not even competing with, but you get jealous anyway, and so you feel "compelled" to bomb their warehouse (oil pipeline) tell your friends to not buy from them (because it's making you look weak and insecure, you're not the center of attention any more...) then you decide that you want to supply your friends what they are selling but you can't do it as cheaply so you have to convince your friends they pay an extra 300-600% higher cost because you are secretly buying it from the very people who were selling it to them directly, but you still manage to convince them anyway... then you pay a local "tough" guy to try and beat up this very source of your product because you're now feeling humiliated and embarrassed (since you can't compete fairly) and if you could do all this by paying money that was loaned to you (treasury bills) the only question would be: Then why wouldn't you? especially if you're used to be the local "big shot" and can't stand to see anyone else get a great deal without your involvement... !!! Please, you guys are intelligent people, so please, before you say that Russia invaded Ukraine, think of the reasons why there was no war declaration, think of why they call it a special operation, there is a technical reason. The US pushed Russia in, threatening the missile installation there, so they used their old strategy to turn Russia into illegal, moral and passive retaliation of all kinds. To old strategy and every time we go with the flow and say invasion, we will be unfairly agreeing with the real warlords, who want to see the world on fire, so they can have their smores as they wish. Russia stepped in to protect his country against a 2-minute warhead over Moscow.

I must disagree with Mr.VJ on several points. I'm writing from the perspective of a person raised in Poland when it was still under USSR influence. And I'm currently living in northern Poland, quite close to the Russian Exclave.
Russia had tactical weapons close to the NATO border (i.e. Poland and Lithuania) many years before the invasion of Ukraine.
Russia's attitude to its neighbours was and is hostile (i.e. Georgia).
The EuroMaidan movement, even as its name suggests, was seen as a more pro-European step by the Ukrainian society. It might have been influenced by the USA, no one is dumb enough to argue that the whole world is under some kind of influence of either the USA, Russia or China.
Putin was and is planning of controlling the whole of Ukraine! Why would he attack Kiev and the north? He still is planning to control the whole. Just a couple of days ago he sign a document suggesting the future administration controls...
Most Europeans don't like the influence of any other country but if we need to be in a relationship with one of those three mentioned, then the American economy is currently the best choice.
It seems, with the latest decisions in the EU and its individual countries, we are shifting towards a Union separated from the US.

      Must disagree with your portrayal.
The distrust and disagreement with Russia is conditioned by the Cold War mindset & outlook. In Europe.
Under Putin Russia has changed & is unrecognizable
Much more accommodating, peaceful, and prospering.
Solvent, getting richer, the5th largest economy in the world now from a broken down country 30 yrs ago.. it is not just a vibrant powerhouse. That looks for respect & expects to get it
Not the snide remarks from certain US puppets in Europe - that try to say, Russia Is not even European !
As the brilliant, wise, insightful, knowledgeable famous & modest astrophysicist astronomer, scientist in USA Carl Sagan .once observed..
      ....
Carl Sagan, the famous US astrophysicist was once interrupted & questioned by a facetious audience member & interlocutor .Asking ...
ABOUT excluding Russia from Europe saying it was not European❗
He, Carl Sagan, replied on the following lines... by a counter query, thinking aloud.. Something like...👇
How do you exclude a people from Europe .. who have created & contributed more than 50 % of its art, philosophy, music, literature, culture, dance & ballet, science, scientific ideas, theories, mathematics, ideas & theories, technologies, inventions.. and overall contribution.. to the continent's progress, standing, achievements & prestige, ..
      etc etc
      ---
      And He was RIGHT ❗
      Spot On.!
      ---------
Absolutely. The Russians are a very gifted, imaginative, talented, inventive, mentally strong, independent, fearless, bold, intrepid, explorer people.. as a culture & civilization. Eurasian.
      ___
      Vis-à-vis
      Carl Sagan,
Carl Sagan had a deep abiding admiration & appreciation/ love for the Russian motherland or fatherland..& its people, history & traditions.
His father & family. emigrated to USA from Russia early last century.. And Carl was born & brought up in Brooklyn, New York, USA.. and achieved success & fame - for his acumen, wisdom & insights.. and his well balanced personality & unbiased mental faculties..
      Great observation.. by Carl Sagan..❗

I concur with Mr Picard assessment on the ‘Division of humanity imperialism & colonialism. Unfortunately the U.S. politicians & their MSM along with EU leaders continue to endorse it despite massive opposition from their constituents.
