- 8th Place: Prelude Op. 11 No. 9 in E major by Alexander Scriabin…hope the animations don’t strike you as too weird. 😂
This one strikes me as a sort of love story. I've recorded this one before in my old "top 4 Scriabin" video, but this is a new performance with different commentary, better mics and mic placement that give a more natural sound and wider dynamic range. And maybe I played it better? In any case, let me know what you think! You can find the other one here: • Top 4 Easier Scriabin ...
With romance in mind, here is a love letter from Alexander Scriabin to Tatiana Schloezer:
“I am breathless, I feel blessed, I compose wonderfully. From time to time I feel torn from my work to think about you and to mentally communicate my thoughts to you. […] I write for you, my dearest joy! You will understand all, you will apprehend all! Like nobody else! You will understand every turn of my mad fantasy.”
(Letter by Alexander N. Scriabin to Tatiana F. Schloezer dated 24th November (7th December) 1904, in: A. N. Scriabin. Pis‘_ma [Letters]. Moscow 2003, p. 326)
I should write my wife a letter in that vein. More interesting info on Tatiana Fyodorovna de Schloezer and Alexander Scriabin here: mutor.hfmt-ham...
Stay tuned: Next episode comes in a week!

Bio of Tatiana de Schloezer
------
Tatiana de Schloezer (1876-1922) was a Russian pianist and music critic, best known for her close association with the composer Alexander Scriabin. Born in Moscow into a family of intellectuals, she demonstrated musical talent from a young age and pursued formal training in piano. Tatiana met Scriabin in the early 1900s, and their professional relationship soon evolved into a personal one, with her becoming his muse, companion, and the mother of their children.
Schloezer's influence on Scriabin was profound; she inspired many of his compositions and provided critical support and insight during the creative process. Despite not achieving widespread fame as a performer, her contributions to music were significant, particularly through her interpretations of Scriabin's works. Tatiana's life and career were closely intertwined with the avant-garde movements of early 20th-century Russia, and she remains a figure of interest in the study of Scriabin's life and music. Played with such intensity, that’s wonderful 👏🏻
Everytime i hear this piece it reminds me of two lovers having to say goodbye to each other but knowing it will be okay at the end
Another lovely Scriabin, Marc :). It sounds so rich, I really love those moving lines.
The LH counter line sounds goooood
Yeah! When I Koji Atwood play the piece ages ago, he brought out the left hand really well, and that made me want to learn the piece. Scriabin often likes to write melodies in the bass/tenor rather than the straight bass lines we’re used to hearing.
This is 8th place! Next, see 7th place here: th-cam.com/video/lTKltdKLmaQ/w-d-xo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB8AUB
This piece was actually composed when scriabin, was with another woman, Natalya Sekerina one month before they broke up :(
Ha, I didn't know it was just a month prior! In that context I imagine the push and pull of romance was on his mind when he wrote the piece. Sad story between the two of them!
